Have shown interest and sent an inquiry on four different dogs and have not heard back on any until weeks later when the animal shelter sends an email stating the dog has been adopted. Petfinder is a joke. Don't trust them to send your inquiry to anyone.

If you expect anyone to get back to you when you show interest in a dog, think again. I haven’t received ONE response in my dog search. I don’t know who is responsible for such horrible service. I expect the ads are never updated. The ratings pretty much speak for themselves. Barely one star. In their effort to help people find a pet, they lose miserably. Very disheartening and awful treatment of folks looking for a new little one. Preying on your emotions isn’t very nice.

NEVER heard back after sendings 3 requests. And now the dog we were interested in is no longer available. How frustrating and downright rude! I’m done with Petfinders. Will search for a reputable pet agency.

So far, so good, the site hooked us up with a local animal rescue, and we go see the dog this Saturday. I think this site is a great way to match pets to your local area. I will update this review once we finalize the adoption

Terrible. They are shills for Purina and nothing more. The get your personal information and sell it to spammers and God knows who else. I have not received one reply from a single kennel even though the response to my background information was positive. All I wanted was a dog. All I got was email from strangers and spammers. If you support Purina pet products you are supporting spammers and scammers. Don't buy Purina and reward this kind of marketing scam.

I gave my information in order to express interest in 3 kittens.
I did not get a proper response from any of the applications- BUT, I have received a TON OF NEW SPAM, in my email.
This organization just sells your info, AVOID.

As of June 2020, they have banned current and any horse or livestock rescue from putting animals on their site and have even banned them.

how dare people rescue animals from slaughter?

My review is for Mercy Full Project located in Tampa, FL. We made two trips from Lakeland to Tampa to full mercy both appointments the foster people were late. The first dog just was not what we were looking for so they showed us some puppies. We found a unique sweet puppy that my son was going to train to be a service dog. We thought we filled out papers for puppy to be ours but later that afternoon we were told it went to another family. I do not recommend this place at all, we were told the puppy picked its family. I do not believe that bc he was perfectly fine sleeping in our arms. My son is devastated and I am frustrated because this is not how you do business. Then Hydie responded to tell me “they would ensure Wedo not have any other family interested”. Just like we were told the puppies we were looking at had not been posted which again was a lie. We ask about another one of the puppies and we’re then told they were all pre adopted. What a horrible way to do families and these animals. I do not recommend them all they have done is lie, they stated they told us other people would be looking at the puppy, my husband and my son not myself never heard they say anything like that. We filled out the paperwork and walked out of there believing we were getting a puppy in 2-3 weeks when it was ready.

This company is terrible! They claim they are always busy and use that as an excuse as to why it takes them a week to respond to your email. By the time they get back to you, the pet you want is adopted. I don't have the luxury of weekends off and can't attend the Saturday adoption site! Trying to adopt a pet through them is worse then trying to buy a car! I even tried messaging the shelter directly and still nothing! If you have any common sense, don't waste your time with them!

I think this site is great. Everyone else seems to have had a bad experience, but I did not use the site to actually adopt my cat, I just used it to see what was available in my area. I then went to the nearest humane society to bond with the cat I chose instead of blindly ordering one. I ended up getting him and everything worked out!

I have been searching for a fur baby to add to our family. I have found many wonderful dogs on Petfinder. The problem is I have inquired on at least 10 adoptable dogs. I got one response that she was available and then no further communication. My mother even tried calling her to help. No response. I question the validity of the “rescues” on this site. Each one of these request was made to a different adoption agency in the state of Colorado. I believe that people are hanging onto the dogs to get everything covered for them, example food and vet bills. They just keep them up for adoption but never respond to anybody. It’s really kind of sad when you think about it. There are so many wonderful fur babies out there that need homes and so many people willing to take them and make them part of their family and when you have a site like this where you do not even get a response back makes me think it’s a scam. They need to be investigated.

This site is so cute they are saving hundreds of animals lives I have always been an animal lover and this site makes me very happy 😃 you can search by breed for dogs and cats thank you so sweet

This website helps animals be adopted all over the country (maybe the world, I'm not sure). It helps shelters lower their euthanasia rates and find loving homes for every animal in need. Truly an amazing idea executed to perfection.

I used KittyKaretakers on Petfinder and they recommended me an animal hoarder. Petfinder doesn't check organization registries (ny health dept) before adopting from agencies like this. I'm not sure how they do their background check as they claim but it's clearly not as thorough as they claim.

KittyKaretakers is not registered with the IRS as a charity, non-profit, or tax-exempt organization, and had their (previous?) tax-exempt status revoked for failure of filing proper tax forms for 3 consecutive years already. THEY'RE STILL ACTIVE ON PETFINDER. I reached out to them two years ago and they were called "Kitty Karetakers" and now they've removed the space: "KittyKaretakers". I'm not sure if that changes their history or track record but it's all-around shady and Petfinder is just as guilty in giving them a platform.

worst site to find a pet. been on here for a month and the waiting is ridiculous. they treat you like a criminal for wanting to adopt a rescue animal.
