Stay Away from this company

Stay Away from this company. They were amazing for the first few years but once my dog became ill, that has changed. Today, Pets Best cancelled my pet's policy. No warning, no contact in advance, just a "dear john" email. I did not request this and would not do so since my dog has become diabetic within the last 18months. Pets Best did not have an issue when she was a healthy dog but since she became ill have been slow to pay and customer service went from excellent to non-existent. BEWARE before you sign up!

Slow and often unwilling to process claims. Difficult to get help

I recently switched from another insurer. I have found pets best to be very slow and unwilling to process claims. They will close out your claim and not pay it if they do not receive the medical records. It is very difficult to get someone on the phone to help. Other pet insurers will not insist on so much documentation to process claims and are easier to reach by phone and email. Look else where, this is not a well run insurance.

Truthfully the best pet insurance i’ve…

Truthfully the best pet insurance i’ve ever had and at a time when I had gotten to the point where i felt it’s not worth having insurance. They’re very transparent, clear and great with communication. I’d say rather quick with the reimbursement. Also I just lost my baby and I appreciate that they emailed me that they’d be terminating his policy and reimbursing me for the month I paid which he wouldn’t need coverage for. It sounds silly but in my grief even the thought of cancelling a service he was using was a little heartbreaking. 10/10 would recommend

Very fair claims settlements

We’ve had Pet’s Best insurance for more than three years. The insurance, by no means, will cover all the pet’s bills, but it covers everything the contract says it will, relatively quickly and without hassle. Especially good for illnesses and accidents. Recommended!

Pets Best is THE WORST pet insurance…

Pets Best is THE WORST pet insurance company. They will NOT reimburse for anything. My husband accidently closed our back door on our fur baby Cupcake. I submitted all the paperwork they requested dating back to 2024, and still nothing. They want to find a pre-existing condition so they don't have to reimburse, but this was something that happened on the day of our claim because we had to take her to our vet, and they will NOT reimburse us, DESPITE they are unable to find anything pre-existing. Insure your fur baby(s) with anyother company than Pets Best!!!!!

I can't log into my account

I can't log into my account. I have called and still the IT dept hasn't fix it. I get "403 Forbidden
Microsoft-Azure-Application-Gateway/v2" code.

Plus it takes up to 25 days to process claims. If they don't get their act together I'm going somewhere else.

Excellent service for more than a decade

I've been insuring my dogs with Pets Best for a decade or more and they continue to provide excellent service and transparency in explaining their decisions--which have been uniformly accurate.

When I got a new puppy a few years ago, the first thing I did when I got home was to enroll him with Pets Best because I was so pleased with how they handled my previous dog's benefits. I highly recommend them.

So many problems since the company was bought out

Charged two times this month for premiums. Customer service is impossible to contact, with wait times > 1 hour if you can get through, and expect to get cut off a number of times. In the past 6-12 months, they have stopped paying the exact same claims that had been paid. I am truly beyond frustrated with what has become of a good pet insurance company.

Run...

Pets Best has not paid for a Wellness, Vaccine, Office Visit in over a year! They get you in, delay your claim, and claim all visits are connected to pre-existing conditions. Save your money and look elsewhere!

Great to work with!

It is easy to submit claims, and the communication is great. Most of the time they are very responsive, and when there is a delay, they let us know. Customer service is great as well.

Awful

Awful. Do not waste your money. Pets best will reclassify your claims under vague categories that do not match what the pet was seen for just so they can argue pre-existing conditions. My veterinarian wrote them a letter supporting my claim appeal, stating he was not seen for any pre-existing condition. They ignored the letter and denied it again. Their phhone lines will leave you on hold for 45 plus minutes and their complaint form is a joke.

Do Not Trust!!!

I recently went through one of the most terrifying and stressful situations and had the misfortune of having Pets Best as my insurance company. First, they took well over a month to even confirm if they would approve or deny my claim. Which, in the instance of finding out my dog had cancer I did not have the luxury of waiting. I needed to move quickly on to the next steps of seeing specialists and get a treatment plan going. I have insurance to be responsible and elevate these stressful situations, but they did nothing but add to them. I was meeting with specialist and going over plans all with the added stress of wondering if this will be approved or denied. I finally find out that I was denied bases on "pre-existing condition". How can this be a pre-existing condition if he has never had cancer, and he has never been seen for "cancer like symptoms"?! Then when you call to speak with someone about the claim they give you no information other than you can appeal. I have never dealt with an insurance company that was so inefficient and untrustworthy. My previous insurance was quick, efficient, and easy to deal with. I would have stayed with them if they did not discontinue my plan in my state. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY!!!

Claim processing time is variable

Claim processing time is variable - some are processed quickly and some are not. The coverage is good. Customer service is very difficult to reach and many things cannot be handled online such as cancelling a policy following a pet's death. Then you have to wait on hold for over 30 minutes to get in touch with someone to explain that your dog died.
