Fish looked very weak upon arrival. It’s recovering but very slowly. I question the quality. I requested more on the larger size bc they said between 4-6 inches. I expected 5-6. If you cannot a comod... See more

Ich-sick pleco died within a week and dead plant
I ordered a candy stripe pleco and super red ludwigia plant. The pleco died after seven days of receiving it and infected with ich all the mollies I added to the tank at the same time as the pleco— I know the mollies were healthy because they came from another tank I own that I know is ich free. Also, the ludwigia had lost all its leaves. I had paid for overnight shipping but the order was instead sent USPS priority and took 3+ days to receive. No doubt this stressed the pleco and largely killed the plant. Bad experience and no response to my emails—they took my money and left me with a mess.
UPDATE:
Petzone did get around to responding to me and re-sent my order making sure to send it overnight this time. The pleco this time is doing quite well and the plant I also ordered arrived very healthy with all its leaves. I take back my negativity as these folks did everything to make things right. Thank you Petzone! You restored my confidence in ordering from your business!

Recieved a dead fish and another was in dire straights. I work nights so when I got the shipment it was past my bedtime.I opened the bag to see if I could save the one that was barely alive. Due to the fact that opened the bag to try to save the dying fish I was basically told to review their policy and tough crap.

Even though my order didn't work out the store was in contact with me during the whole process. I appreciate that and will take that into consideration when ordering again.

Missed crab arrived DOA
Missed crab arrived DOA. No response in 48 hrs. Basically I placed 2 orders and those arrived safely albeit the 1st was missing a crab . The 2nd had an additional crab plus shrimp.
So I basically paid for my missed one.
Correction order missed 1st time was sent by petzone and spent 7 days in shipping instead of 2-3 as my paid orders did. I planned to place another order but I’m not so sure now

Packaging was horrible
I purchased the fish for my mom. The services were great however, the packaging failed to accommodate the fish. When I received the package, water had spilled out causing the fish to be exposed to drying out due to lack of water. Also because of the heat it was warm nearly frying my fish.

I love Donald and Jawnald (My red tail and Silver tip). They arrived fine and seemed healthy, just a little hungry. The only issue I had was the price. It was a little high, but they arrived alive like the guarantee said.
Fish arrived healthy
Fish was well packed and arrived healthy. Communication about shipping status was on point and helpful.

Frustrating inaccurate stock listings and lacking communication
Neither species of fish I ordered (listed as available) actually were actually available at time of order.
I received a wicked fast update that my order was confirmed, was surprised at how fast it was, then got an email that my order was updated now to “shipped” (Monday May 27). I was even more surprised, and wasn’t sure if I believed it yet. A few hours later I get a text message that says otherwise: that both kinds of fish I ordered were not in stock, and asking if I was okay with a substitution, which I replied that I was not, and so requested either an order hold until it was all ready to be sent, or a refund. I was told they could do a hold, and it would be about a week hopefully until they received more to send out. I asked if I would receive any notification when it was ready, and did not receive a response. Alright, I guess I’ll assume probably yes on that front(?).
About a week passes, and I reach out asking for an update, because I’m sitting on my hands waiting for an order I honestly would not have made if I’d known it wouldn’t be able to be fulfilled. I sent the message itself on a Sunday, so understand if it takes a day or two to respond. I can see a „read“ receipt on Tuesday, and never receive a response. It’s Thursday now, I’ve still not received any further update. The website still has both species of fish I ordered listed as available and are able to be processed for further purchasing even though they’ve not had them in stock for at least a week now. The stock being a day or a couple days behind is an understandable oversight. The stock being over a week without changing, and continuing to allow people to pay for fish you don’t have without being properly communicative, feels more and more scammy as time goes on. Add to that your rigid bordering on hostile DOA policy (I’m a pacifist and would be made really upset to have to literally cut up dead animals), it overall doesn’t feel like a good shopping experience.
Not to mention, I have no concept of timeline—you receive the fish in a weekish, do you quarantine them? Are they going into a store tank, where someone can come in person and decide to buy them before they’re shipped out? How long have the fish not been in stock, now that I see the stock doesn’t seem regularly updated? How many people ordered just like I did and are still waiting on fish, invisible in line before me?
I saw the negative reviews, and honestly I’ve worked retail/food/customer service—I know a lot of time the customer is at fault and either doesn’t know or care—but this process has been incredibly frustrating, and now that I’ve more closely examined your policies while ringing hands, it doesn’t even seem like ordering from here was a great idea in the first place. Your guarantee basically doesn’t cover anything, in spite of requiring the highest shipping cost. If there’s damage on the fish—visible in the picture while inside of the closed bag received from you—you won’t cover it? So if you send me beat up fish, there’s zero room for accountability. Not to mention that it’s only good for store credit, which, if I did have a really negative experience with you, I probably wouldn’t make good on. If it’s a shipping issue, it’s not covered. So you cover…what? A fish dead for no reason? When things don’t just…die for no reason? You require my water parameters, when it literally doesn’t matter, given the guarantee is void as soon as a bag is open. At most, the temperature could be considered…through the bag and all…but even then that doesn’t feel fair, as it’s been in transit and there’s minimal thermoregulation, so unless my tank has an unliveable temperature, none of that should matter. And in what I can only imagine has to be the rare blue moon event someone qualifies, it doesn’t include the high shipping cost.
From what I’m able to observe from online where I’m sitting across the country (regrettably too rural for in person fish stores), is that this seems like a great in person fish store, with a passionate staff, that has spread itself far too thin taking on the online ordering aspect. So…my review is, probably don’t bother ordering online unless you’re *exceedingly* patient (and I literally talk down angry customers all day) or you just have great luck. Maybe my problem was ordering the too near a holiday? I have since found the notice advising you to reach out and ask them about stock before placing your order, which again really reads more as an asscovering policy for you to stumble onto, as I have, after complications with an order. In any case, I ordered, they didn’t have what I ordered, it’s been over a week since I’ve heard from them, I now regret ordering, and I would like my money back so I can order from somewhere else please. Thank you to whomever read this.
