Rude instructors. Prepare to pay additional £130.

As I entered the facility I knew the experience was going to be unpleasant. Other reviews mentioned polite and patient instructors and I'm very glad for those that experience this but Nick and Shane were 2 of the most unpleasant bad mannered "teachers" I have had the displeasure of encountering. They started the day by berating a fellow student for leaving a helmet upside down despite them not knowing why this would be frowned upon. The rest of the session continued in much the same fashion, with simple mistakes being mocked sarcastically time after time. An example that comes to mind (following the brief introduction mentioning that no one would be judged for their errors) was Shane loudly saying he was judging a fellow student the entire time after he had crossed a curb. At this point they had not spoken to me very much, pausing me to correct my thumb being over the throttle which I promptly rectified. Low and behold at the end of the final off road training section (and not once before!) I was told I had been doing my controlled stops wrong the entire time. This made perfect sense in retrospect given that 1 instructor per two riders is legally necessary for the on road training. They needed to boot 2 of us off so that they could continue, as they had squeezed 6 people into the off-road section. In short if you want to be sarcastically made fun of and arbitrarily denied a CBT certificate so that you can lose £190 in the process this is the perfect site for you.

Thanks for your feedback. We're sorry to hear your recent experience with us didn’t meet your expectations. We sincerely apologise that you felt your mistakes were not handled constructively and we’re reviewing instructor feedback and conduct to address this appropriately.
Student-to-instructor ratios differ for on and off-road training. The earlier elements of the CBT, taken off-road, allows for more students per instructor. Students are never stopped from progressing to meet the on-road riding ratios. If a group has more than two students ready for on-road riding, we deploy an additional instructor or provide further pad time for the students who need a little more practice. This allows time for instructors to become available and for students to benefit from additional practice time while adhering to the legal student-instructor ratios.
Decisions for students not progressing to the on-road training is solely based on their demonstrated consistent safe control and readiness for public roads.
Our instructors provided feedback on your bike control throughout the day and throughout the off-road riding elements. This included specific areas like slow-speed control, consistent gear changes, body position, and safe control at junctions. Unfortunately, neither of the instructors observed consistently safe bike control to allow your progression to the public road riding element. Our instructors have a duty of care to ensure all students are safe on the road, both for themselves and other road users.
We understand that it's frustrating to be told you require further training. We regret that the feedback provided didn't support your rider development. Our "Full Continuation" fee covers the additional instruction time needed to help you reach the required safety standard, but is discounted to acknowledge your previous practice.
We wish you all the best with the continuation of your motorcycle lessons and wish you all the best with your continuation toward your goal of becoming a safe and confident rider.

Phoenix Foots Cray have taken me from…

Phoenix Foots Cray have taken me from complete beginner to a full motorcycle licence holder in space of 3 months passing my final test 4th July 25. The instructors are dedicated, very patient and professional. They made training a fun and positive experience. I passed my Mod 1 with no faults and Mod 2 with 1 fault which is a testament to the instruction and training they provide. I will without doubt be recommending Phoenix to anyone interested in getting their motorcycle license.

Fantastic experience

Fantastic experience - I went to Phoenix to begin my motorbike learning journey. While there, I had a few hurdles, especially considering it was my first time riding a motorbike. They supported and helped me learn through my various challenges, even breaking it down so it was more tailored to me. I appreciate the help provided by multiple instructors. I will be returning to complete my Full license and will share my experience afterwards as well.

Simply brilliant

Simply brilliant. Went for CBT. The trainers are so friendly and supportive and really know their stuff. The course is aimed at keeping you safe as a bike rider and keeping you safe on the road. The course was a lot more in depth than I imagined.. and by the end of the day I had learned skills that will most probably save my life. Highly recommended to anyone thinking about taking their CBT.

A really great experience

I took a back to biking training day with a Phoenix motorcycle supplied. I was not expecting 1-1 training but that is what I got with a fantastic instructor, Steve. I was asked what I wanted from the course, got a small bit of classroom time, then out on the training ground for bike familiarisation and manoeuvring skills practice.
The Kawazaki was easy to ride and control although I found the front brake a bit grabby. A lighter touch required perhaps. From there it was out on the road for a good long time including a stop for lunch. Coaching and instructions were very clear through a radio earpiece. Steve really new the roads and gave me a good mix of town and rural riding including some challenging bits. I learnt a lot and know what to work on to improve my riding.

Back to biking course with Phoenix

Phoenix proved to be a very professional organisation. I had an excellent days riding with an examiner who brought me back up to date with legislation and honed my riding skills, giving me confidence. I would recommend Phoenix to anybody wanting to ride safely and enjoy riding a motorcycle.

Nic & Mark were absolutely fabulous! Great instructors & very patient. They made my experience for my test so relaxed & calmed my nerves when needed. Couldn’t have wished for a better place to learn. Will be back for my next training session as soon as I can. Highly recommended & wouldn’t go anywhere else.
