Terrible support and customer service
It took a week to respond to an urgent question about uploading my own music, received an abrupt email from someone 6 days later saying 'how can I help' and not answering the specific question I asked support@pictory the week before. A few abrupt emails later told my paid plan doesn't cover uploading music (even though the free trial allows this....) It's a pity because the product is pretty good (with a few quirks), but I have zero confidence in the support and follow up, so am likely to seek a refund.

Disappointing and Basic
Disappointing and Basic.
I paid with paypal, and from the start I was nagged to save my card details.
Also a few of the 5 star reviews below look more like adverts, rather than genuine user experience.
Pros: Lots of content.
Turns artilces into a video
Cons: Basic interface.
Only via Web. No app
Very basic design, unlike other video editing software I've used.
Support was slow, and like another review mentioned they changed what users paid for.
They changed some of the voice overs to a subscription level above mine, which were avaliable when I originally subscribed and originally paid for.
Yet when I left feedback, the reply was lacklustre.

I use this tool to create my online Bible College courses and it does a great job. The only thing that I would ask is that it provide a slightly better selection of images to go along with the videos they produce. I find myself sending alot of time adding images on my own

Bad platform compared to other AI video makers
There is no way to add pauses in the text and if you want to do it afterwards, you have to do it for every single scene. Most of my videos have more than 40 scenes. It's bothersome. Most of the videos are B-roll and does not match the voice over. But what really got me in the end was that I hadn't used all my credits when my subscription ran out and they just shut me out of the platform entirely, basically scamming me for half the subscription price. I contacted support and they didn't care.

Dysfunctional
their ppt to video function doesnt work, they asked me to send the ppt via email, i did and they said they didint receive it in the attachments (just to save more time i believe) and i shared the screenshot , and they asked me to send it again. I had couple projects in mind and paid the monthly fee for nothing and their response time is pretty slow. They seem pretty amateur in comparison to the amount they are charging per month. They eventually refunded the full amount.

an unethical company who promised…
an unethical company who promised LIFETIME updates to the PREMIUM plan purchased and then decided they could not afford to do so and yet did not refund.
Regarding your reply: I know you just do it so you look like you're unaware of any issues. Contacting support won't achieve anything as well you know. They will simply say that despite my documentation taken from your sales advert which says ALL PREMIUM PLAN UPDATES for Life, you decided to introduce other plans and not have a premium plan, rendering the plan that was purchased useless for any updates. This applies in terms of both your premium ai voices and your more recent ppt to video - and well you know it!
Re your second reply:
Sorry, it still doesn't cut it. Don't offer a LIFETIME deal with ALL PREMIUM PLAN updates and then go and cancel the very existence of that plan if you can't follow through. It's not legal and you would not get away with it had you done it before the 18 month credit card limit on non-delivery of purchase expired. At the very least, you should have offered customers the option of a refund when you noticed your oversight. FYI, I would never give you guys another cent as I see you as nothing but unethical, so offering a reduced price on something I should pay nothing more for doesn't work. Take a look at Taskade who when they released AI "everything", initially added limits, but then realised they could not as they sold an unlimited plan...they now give us what we paid for and gained loyalty...I am happy to recommend them everywhere, but would never recommend pictory.

We understand your frustration with us. We obviously want AppSumo customers to get unlimited access to everything we've created. The issue is that every time someone uses the feature, there is an immense cost to our small company which we didn't predict years ago (when this wasn't a feature on the roadmap).
So we had to make a choice.
Give away functionality that has an expensive, on-going cost and risk not being in business (i.e. laying off the 46 good people we have in the company and no more Pictory for our customers ), or we have to make the really unpopular and difficult decision and charge for features that have an on-demand cost.
With that said, we are working on two things.
(1) a discount for AppSumo customers for features that have an on-going cost (after talking to a few vocal AppSumo customers, this seemed to be understandable and acceptable) and
(2) figuring out a way to make some of the processing (offline) so we can reduce the costs.
Both of these will take a bit more time. We hope you understand that we wish we had a magic bullet that would keep us afloat while giving away everything we have built, but we haven't found one yet.
So please bear with us as we devise the best alternatives that make neither of us completely happy but allow us to continue to deliver Pictory to you.

Faulty videos that cannot be downloaded
I edited the video and finalized it and it keeps giving an error and the video cannot be downloaded even though the background of a scene is black.
I waited for them to fix this for 4 hours in the chat but they sent me a video link that was voiced differently than the video I edited.
The video is not as I edited it.
Scene 13. There is a strange sound after the words select time and it waits.
This video will be translated into 8 more languages.
I can't wait for you to edit and download the videos.
Like everyone else, I want to edit the videos on my own screen and download them without your help.

Really happy with Pictory so far
What an under rated video generator. Right after the trial, I immediately subscribed just yesterday because of the ease, efficiency and quality of video and sounds. As a writer, I don't have time for making videos, but which I love producing. I prefer the Starter Plan, because I don't want the voiceover but just words on the screen and the music background are awesome. Love the way it chooses music automatically and is sync with the mood of my script. And I prefer short videos and even the Starter Plan offers abundance of minutes, enough to produce 1-2 videos everyday. Definitely, opting for annual plan soon. Keep up the good work !

Easy to use
Easy to use, I just don't need it at the moment and cancelling my plan was fairly easy. I will definitely use again in the future when I have more time to focus on video creation.

This video editor does not deliver a professional experience
There are many irregularities in the voices, and some even fail to pronounce the words correctly. I tested the voiceovers in Portuguese. Unfortunately, I subscribed for a month but won’t be able to use it because it is full of errors.
