After Admiral refused to renew the…

After Admiral refused to renew the cover of my Mothers property following her death. I contacted Pikl and dealt with Rebecca. As someone who deals with insurance companies on a regular basis I was really impressed with her professionalism and the speed cover was arranged. I would have no hesitation in recommending them to others and Rebecca in particular.

Incredibly misleading cover levels.

Incredibly misleading cover levels.
When hosting, Pikl only covers the property building and fittings up to a maximum of £30k. The main policy covers this risk when not hosting, but the hosting top-up doesn't, so leaves the biggest risk of all (the rebuild cost in the case of a fire) with the policy holder. For virtually every property in the UK this will be dramatically less than required.
Be very wary before you buy that you understand this risk and what you leave yourself exposed to. Pikl need to make this a lot clearer to buyers. Considering highlighting this to the FCA under their fair, clear and not misleading rules.

**update - 18/05 - Pikl have responded to this to clarify the cover is in fact £1m - however this is not what their colleague told me on the phone so affirming my star rating for the inconsistency of experience. Staff members should know the cover they are selling.

Hi Fraser. We take all customer feedback seriously and would like to clarify the details of our policy. In the event of a fire caused as a direct result of your hosting activity, our Top-up insurance covers up to £1 million in rebuild costs. There are also some cases where the property owner isn't liable for the rebuild cost of a property (e.g., a flat where the host is the leaseholder) and the £30k in cover relates to fixtures and fittings for that scenario. This is usually sufficient for typical flats and apartments. We also cover up to £2 million in liability cover where the host is liable for damage to third party property. In most cases, our cover is enough in the unfortunate event that a host's property catches fire. If you’d like to get in touch with us, we’d be more than happy to discuss things further with you.

Useless in Scotland

No use in Scotland, insufficient public liability for new regulations and no flexibility to adjust.
Reviews are all requested after purchase not when claiming... so yes you took my money efficiently.
Remains to be seen how the claims service performs.

However, in relation to Scotland, the amount of public liability you require varies depending on your local authority, and the liability cover we provide is usually sufficient. Excellent customer service

Excellent customer service. The agent worked very hard to get me the best price for my buildings and contents insurance. I would not hesitate to recommend them to family and friends.

Cheaper quote for Holiday Let insurance and package for Public Liability than I could find anywhere else.
Helpful staff, quick to answer telephone queries and explain everything.

Policy was very clear and professional

Glad to have found Pikl. The process of building a policy is straightforward, the cover terms very transparent and the fees are reasonable.

Contrast this with AirBnb's own cover, which really isn't what it's cracked up to be (I discovered this the hard way!)

PIKI still give out contact phone number

It is So Nice to find an insurance company which still offers a contact telephone number - and which is answered promptly by helpful and friendly staff.
My panic query was dealt with by Emma in a matter of seconds, documents emailed and received, job done.
