Review for #253 in Oviedo, FL

Spoke with an employee on Sun 3/30/2025 and the owner was supposed to call me on Monday to discuss monthly pool services. I shared my name, cell and indicated I would be working on home on tue, so that day would be a great day to come by and we can discuss the project.
5 business day s later on Friday 4/4/2025... no tel call, no text, no visit, nothing from the owners !
If you cannot call for new business... I have to wonder what your post sale customer services is like.
By the way, this is the second time with this location this has happened. A few months ago I had a major issue with the pool and they were going to come to look at the pool and back them, no show !

I was looking to have my poo refinshed

I was looking to have my pool refinished in port charlotte fl. After speaking to a few pool Companys I did not have anyone that i felt comfortable with to re finish my pool. I called Pinch a Penny in Port charlotte fl 33981. I received a detail quote. The price was fair so i set up a meeting with Mike the owner. They completed my pool within one week. The trade workers where very professional and clean up daily. The pool refinish exceeded my expiations in detail and fit and finish. Mike the owner came out to my home many times to check on the quality of the work. Mike even called a few weeks after the job was complete to make sure everything was up to par with my pool. Being in the construction industry and overseeing many pool projects. I give Pimch a Penny out of Port Charlotte fl near Murdock five stars. Thank you mike A plus job.
Respectfully, Tim Vogler

Excellent Service

I stopped up at the Pinch a Penny on Cape Coral Parkway next to Publix. I wanted to schedule a service call and since they were near me I thought I would just drive up there. They understood the problem I was experiencing but were booked out until the following week. Said they would come sooner if possible. I was home about an hour and the tech sent me a message he was going to be in the area and would stop by. Not only did he stop by but had the necessary part and fixed the problem immediately. I was thrilled!

I used to dread cleaning days

I used to dread cleaning days, but now I look forward to them. Their staff is always courteous and arrives on schedule. They meticulously clean every inch of my pool, and the results are consistently impressive. Not only do they handle the cleaning, but they also provide helpful tips on maintenance and care. I appreciate their eco-friendly cleaning products, which keep my family safe.

As longtime customers of Pinch A Penny…

As longtime customers of Pinch A Penny Pools, we are very disappointed with the recent decline in service. Our pool and hot tub has not been not been maintained to an acceptable standard, and when we reached out to address the issue regarding our hot tub we were met with unprofessional customer service. Over the phone that claimed they only clean if they have time. Formerly, they use to clean and maintain both the pool and hot tub well so we are surprised at decline in quality.Sadly, we can no longer recommend them based on this experience and will moving our business elsewhere. The company location in seven springs Newport Richey.

RUDE IN ALL ASPECTS..

I went on the website and filled out the information for a quote for maintenance and pool cleaning services almost 2 weeks ago, and waited patiently for a response from the location in South Saint Pete. Never got a response from them. So I just called them to be told, "Oh, we're not taking on anymore customers until November." We have over 700 emails to answer and you would've got a response from us either today or sometime tomorrow. "

ARE YOU KIDDING ME???? HOW RUDE THAT YOU TAKE THIS LONG TO RESPOND TO SOMEONE AND THEN I TAKE THE RESPONSIBILITY TO CALL YOU MYSELF AFTER WAITING FOR 2 WEEKS TO HEAR YOU SIMPLY TELL ME THAT YOU'RE
NOT TAKING ANY NEW CUSTOMERS UNTIL POSSIBLY NOVEMBER!!!

As a would've been customer to your store, I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER ITEM FROM THIS BUSINESS EVER AGAIN!!! YOU AREN'T EVEN A MILE
FROM MY HOME AND I DECIDED TO GO WITH YOUR BUSINESS IN ENTRUSTING POOL CARE, BUT AFTER THIS... NO THANK YOU!!!

Met the new manager at Wesley Chapel…

Met the new manager at Wesley Chapel Pinch-A-Penny today. Benny Gespo Rivera. He went the extra mile to make my experience great! He helped me purchase some seals and gaskets for my pool pump and installed them while I waited. Need more people like him.

I don't change service companies…

I don't change service companies without attempting to fix the issues. However, I am done with Pinch-a-Penny after two years. Several times the service received was poor and not the full service I paid for. After 2 weeks of not fixing my suddenly green pool, I am done. I found a new company who went over the system with me, took pictures, showing me the disgusting big filter that they can only guesstimate hasn't been cleaned for a couple months. The filter was almost unserviceable but the tech was able to get the fins clean. Pinch-a-penny lied about what they did weekly. The pool had to be shocked a second time and I am so happy now that the wall stains are gone, the water is clear. My pool hasn't looked this good for well over a year.

Routine service with resulting ZERO chlorine…. after last so-called ‘balancing’.
Company only accepts credit cards for payment & bills BEFORE monthly service.
I can now see ‘why’ with the terrible ratings. They have no intention of returning any money charged to your card whether they perform a service or not.
Therefore, without any contract, if you discontinue for poor service/absence of chlorine you will not be refunded any money.
Guess I’m fortunate my pool doesn’t have algae!

There is a guy named JB in Lehigh Acres…

There is a guy named JB in Lehigh Acres FL. That was clueless. I kept telling him what I was a new customer and he kept asking about my order. I got frustrated and said " maybe I should go get my stuff at Leslie's", and he told me maybe I should. Just plain rude. I went to Leslie's and they were awesome. I bought over $400 of stuff. Thank you pinch anpenny for giving my new store.

Terrible service! After years as a loyal customer I called the store

Terrible service! After years as a loyal customer I was surprised when I called the store and spoke to Bridget. I let her know that my pool is still filthy even though it was vacuumed yesterday. I thought she would be understanding and would resolve the problem. Instead she told me to go to another pool service. I was very surprised as to how rude she was. For years I have gone to this store and thought that she was a very nice young woman. I have a legitimate complaint one time after years of being a loyal customer and she tells me to get lost and not to come into the store! Not a great way to run a business.

The guy that owns this store in Oldsmar…

The guy that owns this store in Oldsmar FL is a joke and will try and take advantage of you, case in point, last month while i was getting my water tested i asked if they had a couple of screws plastic for either a Jandy / hayward ball valve, they young girl came back with 2 of them packaged individually , when i went to pay for them i was asked for over $50.00 i was in disbelief and said no thanks.
Fast forward 2 wks later i was in once again and showed the owner the package below from Amazon, that had 3 pcs for $7.00, and he tried to justify the price difference, and i walked out because of this Woke mentality now i have been going to this store for a decade i get salt, acid, filters etc, so today he starts another conversation actually arguing and still trying to justify the cost, at this point i look at him and told him the conversation is finished, guess he didn't like that and now shouting at me and telling me to get out of thew store, do not ever use this store as they are total RIP off joint and the owner is a total Woke MORON, look at the pics below and please remember they wanted $25 ea.

I cannot believe these people are in business

If I could give this family franchise a “0” for customer service I would. I started with them because the other pinch a penny on Research never showed up. The pinch a penny (Magnolia) started with checking out why my pump wasn’t working then we proceed with the monthly service.
#1. They charge $365 on 06/25/24 for the service then
#2. Charge me $90 on 06/28/24, I guess for the end of the week of June starting the monthly service.
#3. Charge me $256 on 07/01/24 for the month of July when I was told, it would be $226.

I called them to inquire about charges and had the phone hang on me by one of their family employee because I was asking about the charges then I called back and got switch to multiple people who never let me know someone was coming on the phone. I just heard a new voice, there was no introduction.

Finally, spoke to Bob, who claim he was the owner, very rude and unempathetic about my concern. Treated me like I was a nothing on the phone, I called my husband crying about it who was irritated and called Bob who still was nasty and said “you have to deal with her”.

Anyways, there are multiple pinch a penny franchise. I do not know if they are related but this one is in Magnolia ( nasty customer service). And, there is another one on Research, in which we started with but they never showed up and when I called the front desk girl was clueless and couldn’t even find us in the system where our pool was green.

It may be related to the one in Magnolia. All I am saying is they are really nasty and do not want you to inquire about their charges. It seems like pinch a penny really is pinching customers wallets.

We are with a new pool company, very nice gentleman that doesn’t get annoyed or irritated when I asked about a fee and he always call me if the price is off from what he stated.

Please watch out for pinch a penny whoever is reading this, I am saving you the headache of being hung on when ask questions and a man speaking to you like you don’t matter and still expecting $ 256/ a month from you as the customer and mind you additional charges that they are hoping you do not see.

Greedy

Watkins/Hot Springs-Caldera recommended Pinch A Penny who, I learned bought the local Caldera Spa dealer. I needed the special chloride generator for my salt water spa, called to confirm in stock and drove across town to buy the part. Lady says "we only sell in 3 pack." Rings up my purchase and it is $600!!!! This is a $125 part - 3 should be $375. I swallowed hard and paid the price but now will never go back.

Not nice to rip off customers but there will never be a next time. Found a dealer not too far away this is not greedy.

Worst pool company in the United…

Worst pool company in the United States. I gave them 1 star because there was no option for zero stars.
My pool is so bad that I canceled my July 4th pool party because even the iguanas won't swim in it!
My pool lights haven't worked in 5 weeks, I've called 4 times and they lie every time. "Oh I'll make sure the tech is there today" or "let me call the tech and I'll call you right back", 3 days later no call.
Pool cleaner com3s in, throws chlorine tablets in the skimmer and leaves, great service....run the other direction, lower company.
