Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 226 reviews, most reviewers were unhappy with their experience overall. Many people frequently struggled to reach customer support, facing extremely long telephone waiting times and unresponsive communication from housing managers regarding important issues. Customers also experienced major frustrating delays with property repairs, uncompleted maintenance work, poor communication, and recurring problems such as severe dampness and broken fixtures. Some reviewers were happy with individual staff members, noting that certain employees were polite, friendly, and very helpful during their visits. A few tenants additionally mentioned that specific property maintenance tasks or routine household repairs were handled very well by professional and attentive workers.

Unprofessional

Very disappointing experience. Places for People expects its leaseholders to comply with their lease obligations and policies, yet despite repeated reports, evidence and ongoing breaches by their customers, we have seen little effective intervention. As neighbouring freehold owners, we have been left to deal with repeated trespass, parking issues, verbal abuse and property damage with minimal support. Communication has been poor, complaints have gone unanswered, and the issues have continued.

I didn't think that PfP could get any lower

Places for People are a disgusting organisation. I didn't think that they could get much lower, but they plumbed the lowest depths recently when someone whom I know suffered the loss of his Mother with whom he shared the property. Just TWO days after she died, PfP contacted him to say he had to find somewhere else to live as they claimed he couldn't afford the rent. This situation which was nothing short of bullying a tenant who was grieving for the loss of his mum continued for several months before he was able to sort out the tenancy.

Very Poor

Terrible company!
They Don’t listen to tenants! Every problem is Not solved No vetting at all of new tenants !! Are scheme used to be a decent place to live . Not now !!! All new tenants are either low life drugs users or Ex Convicts!!! these are now being given priority to decent law abiding citizens. thieving at our scheme is now rife there has been that many thefts to even report! The appointed tenancy officer is Not interested in anything that’s reported! It’s all to much trouble to chase up ! As for rents a £200 increase this year alone! PfP think people have money trees! Repairs are Not completed or bodged ! A recent communal washing machine repair took literally 4 months to complete, disgusting ! Were PfP interested No not one bit . I don’t apologise for this report being scathing ! It’s the Truth it’s Exactly how it is as of July 2026 Drastic Change is Needed .I hope Greg Reed sees this rep

The worst housing association

The worst housing association and that's saying something as I was a Derby city council tenant.I call them places for people THAT ARENT FIT TO LIVE IN.PFP put profits before people.Paying themselves huge bonuses Greg Reed you should be ashamed. Raising the rents exponentially but not completing roiyone repairs and maintenance.Basically treating tenants like the scum they think they are.

It's difficult to know where to start

It's difficult to know where to start. A genuinely abysmal company.
From unresponsive customer service enquiries, frequently being left on hold for over an hour, repeated failures for repairs to be carried out on the dates given without an explanation or apology, waiting over 8 months for a 5 week repair, a complete disregard for their own fire safety policies, service engineers arriving without the tools necessary to complete repairs.... Places For People's own surveys show a 40% approval rate for repairs, frankly I'm baffled that they even managed to score that.

My mum lives in what was sheltered…

My mum lives in what was sheltered housing,by places for people, who changed her sheltered housing to no longer is sheltered housing which primarily why she is there. All of a sudden after years of doing her gardening as well as other elderly peoples gardens they just stop and say they can't get through because a neighbour has now has a locked fence and gate. Which means anyone can do what they like. We raised an issue with places for people today regarding her garden being so very uneven that it is a danger to her and their response was that she has to sort it herself.

I can not believe this, that's disgusting...she is elderly and they could not care less.
I've never heard of anything so bad as this from an housing association.

And when you phone them all the automated messages make them sound so nice but they really don't care about people who aren't in better places.

Well I need to find the right people to take this story to as it's appalling!!

I am still waiting for a repair to my windows, as they are in part quite rotten with paint flaking off. I reported this on the 13th October 2024. This is not good. I receive an email from Places for People from time to time, saying they havent forgotten but are not able to repair yet. I find this very unsatisfactory. The windows are getting worse as time goes on.
I wil say that other repairs have been done in good time.

Improve their repairs

Improve their repairs, I've been waiting ages to get a tap
repaired, been let down twice, fed up with paying over £500 a month rent and having to have a wash in the kitchen sink. Disgusting.

I'm not ringing to find out what went wrong with my repair. I've been told it'll be July 29th now. Ha ha ha, very funny.
If your workmen didn't sit in their van for half an hour after doing a ten minute job more repairs might get done. Don't say they don't, I've seen it.

A company with “People” in its name…

A company with “People” in its name that doesn’t seem to care about its tenants.

There is little to no support when it comes to maintaining or improving the surrounding area. The building is not being upgraded or refreshed, and the cleanliness is not properly looked after.

Communication is also very poor. There is no personal contact with tenants, making it difficult to get help or have concerns addressed.
