Not what I had expected and limited overall . interviewed but limited as I assumed it was for a part time position but actual vacancy was for casual hours or as and when needed , which was effectively zero-hours which doesn't suit anyone. Bizarre way to go about recruitment and misleading . waste of time

PLACES 4 PEOPLE - THE SAGA CONTINUES!The front door swells up in the sun…

The front door swells up in the sun -regardless of the season, which makes the latch mechanism within the door seize up. This now creates an obstacle when wanting to get out the front of the house, as you now have to use a knife to lift the latches out - god forbid there's an emergency.
Places for People's pitiful response was a call back within 5 weeks! The suggestion was to use the back door, yes in emergency but not in daily use when you have newborn and a pram which would have go through a bin yard area.
This too is our issue with P4P that having ignorant people fly tipping all the time and dumping rubbish next to our garden - while isn't their fault -needs to be enforced somewhat to deter the troglodyte neighbours from constantly doing it.
3rd issue is that similar to other residents the smoke detection is well out of date and requires replacing.
The common complaint here is that you pay P4P a stack of cash for rent, which somehow covers maintaining the property. And if you have the temerity to raise a complaint it gets shuffled away.

Unsafe and unhelpful

Absolutely astonishingly bad. Incorrectly wired in the smoke and heat detectors on my flat. Contacted them several times, mostly with no response. Refused to help in any way, or investigate further (serious safety issue if this is the case through the whole building). It’s not cost me £3k and counting to resolve. Avoid at all costs.

I have a cracked pipe so when we use…

I have a cracked pipe so when we use the bath the water comes out of the crack and leaves big puddles of water in my garden! I emailed a complaint as was told 5 weeks waiting time for repair, they were meant to come out yesterday,it messed up my work pattern. I was then rang at 3.20pm to be told the workman had to extend his job so need to reschedule. This has happened before with a different repair which again I had to do a complaint and the job was cancelled 5 times which caused me loss of pay as had to take some of the days off unpaid. They have increased our rent but repairs aren't getting done in adequate time,I suffer with anxiety and this has been made worse by the stress. They are quick to take our money but not quick to deal with repairs which are their responsibility. It is very frustrating and disappointing,I did email my local mp regarding the repair before this current one as complaining doesn't really amount to much from this company. Do better

as a company. There have been numerous bad experiences with Places for People staff but the one shining light, who has been amazing, is Lettings Manager, Jenny Wilcock. Extremely helpful with a lovely attitude. Places for People are lucky to have her.

Avoid at all costs

Been in a property for 10 years, always had a mold issue which they keep putting down to condensation. We had a independent surveyor here who told us he came to the propperty 12 years prior to when he came to us for the same issue and showed us photos of the mold then all in the same places. PfP refuse to accept the issue. Our windows are falling apart they declined to replace them saying if we give you new windows everyone would want some. They have others repairs they accept that needs doing but they say 5 weeks when that time comes they say there was a problem and another 5 week repeatedly. I know finding a home in these times is hard with them not being advertised to the public PFP being one of them but I would stay away at all costs there is so much more than I have described here and not just with us on this street aswell.

Horrible company, they take no action or care

Extremely disappointing experience with Places for People.

For over a year I have been trying to get them to properly address a serious tree maintenance issue affecting neighbouring properties beside one of their managed buildings on Brigstocke Road in Bristol. The tree has become dangerously oversized for the space it is in, growing over 5 metres tall in a tiny garden very close to houses.

The issue actually started before that, when one of their own tenants attempted to complain about the same unmanaged sycamore tree because she wanted her children to be able to safely enjoy the shared garden space. According to her, her complaints went nowhere, and because she was battling cancer at the time, she understandably did not have the energy to keep pursuing it further. After speaking to her, I decided to take the matter forward myself.

Since then, I’ve experienced:
• long periods of being ignored
• being incorrectly told I couldn’t complain because I’m a neighbour, not a tenant
• poor communication throughout
• agreed works not being carried out properly
• repeated dismissal of photographic evidence showing clear neglect

The garden they manage is completely overrun with sycamore saplings, including secondary trees now growing dangerously close to residential buildings. The spread into neighbouring gardens has become unmanageable despite residents constantly trying to remove all the seedlings and saplings every year.
Neighbours have already had to pay out of pocket for tree removal because of the spread from this unmanaged site.

Places for People claim annual inspections and maintenance are taking place, yet the condition of the garden clearly says otherwise.
Even after escalating to Stage 2 and providing extensive photographic evidence, they concluded there had been “no service failure”.

I will now be escalating the matter to the Housing Ombudsman.

A very frustrating and exhausting experience from start to finish. And I’m sure they will reply to this with their auto comment saying to email their ‘customers focus team’, as they have with every other 1 star review. But I can tell you now, from the year I’ve spent dealing with them, their customer team do not care, and will not take issues seriously.

Absolute terrible company to deal with

Absolute terrible company to deal with. Nearly everyone on the estate has had issues with the terrible quality windows/patio doors they installed . My patio doors are leaking causing the skirting board to be damp and paint falling off. My bedroom window is entirely covered with condensation between the glass panels. I have contacted Places for people only to be told it’s my problem and nothing to do with them even though many people on the estate have have had their issues sorted although I have been told it was a very stressful process and took months of escalating complaints to get anything done.

Please do not respond with the usual please contact so and so as I know as well as you it’s just a lets pass the buck to someone else and you won’t get anywhere anyway so don’t bother!

Neglectful Management, Endless Delays and Serious Safety Concerns

Ref: SA-870329

In response to your reply asking me to email your customer focus team, I already have contacted your teams multiple times before.

There has been a fire hazard issue where my fire alarm did not go off, a leak that lasted for months before anyone properly attended, damaged flooring still not repaired, walls still needing repainting due to the leak, and windows still letting cold air in.

One operative even stated they could not finish the leak repair job because they needed to pick up their child from school. That completely sums up the experience — nobody seems to have the time or urgency to actually resolve anything properly.

I still do not know my allocated parking space after living here for years, management never seems to know what is going on, and despite compensation being offered, the same issues still continue.

Lying, denial and gaslighting.

Two weeks ago PFP repaired my fence, no problems but a cheap and effective repair. Subsequently the post at the othe end of the fence broke, This time however PFP tell me that they will not repair it as they have changed tenants responsibilites. When? No-one consulted with me or told me that PFP were preparing to shirk their responsibilities? They suggest I contact a charity or consult checkatrade rather than do what I pay handsomely for, namely be a landlord. Very dissapointing.

Yet again no repairs done. Cancels constantly or no show.

Yet again no repairs done, the list is now endless. Finally after waiting you get a date! Not show... Wait ages for another date... Then they cancel...time and time again. Ring and complain, nothing done, not interested. Back on the list for another date..... This new system is terrible clearly!
You ask the customer how you can do better. Is it not clear?!
I am done now and taking it further.

Over and over again this company fails…

Over and over again this company fails in its basic duties and responsibilities as a landlord, you cannot get through on the phone without waiting hours , you cannot report repairs online they don’t get logged, I’ve found the only way to report a repair is to email the maintenance team.
A long list of repairs for my property, constantly get cancelled , most of the time without any notice you wait from 8am till 4pm and they text saying they aren’t coming another wasted day of annual leave from work.
Waiting years for some repairs and months for others, I usually do most of them myself but refuse to do really expensive things it’s their house not mine.
You must be available for gas and electric checks but it’s ok for them not to maintain anything else even if it’s dangerous and urgent.
It’s stressful and frustrating dealing with these incompetent cowboys , when they do repair anything it’s of bad quality.
I pay full rent keep my house to a high standard and this is the service I get , extremely high rent that constantly goes up , non existent maintenance on the property, wasted days waiting for them not to turn up , I’m yet again going to have to go through the complaint process because this isn’t acceptable by any means, how is no one stepping in and seeing that these idiots are not fit to run a housing association, an unbelievable amount of bad reviews regarding the failure to do repairs from this company, i wish I wasn’t stuck renting off them and my advice to anyone thinking about it is don’t do it you will regret it .
This review will probably get the usual contact us to discuss further that is also a fake gesture they don’t respond if you do , it’s a shambles of a company and completely unacceptable and disgusting how they treat their tenants and downright irresponsible to not carry out the repairs needed to keep a tenant safe and secure.

Builders for Places for people forgot power supply to immersion

Im in a Shared ownership property part owned by Places for People.
I had a gas engineer over to look at my immersion heater thinking perhaps I need a new one or it wasn't wired correctly as its never been used. I thought would be a quick fix anyway putting trust in the house builders.
You can imagine my shock to find out the builders did not wire the immersion to anything. No on off switch and no power supply. So how does a house electrical and boiler work get signed off as done? Bodge job.

4th failure to attend repair

Today Fri 1st May 26 I am sitting waiting on hold to speak to a person in the repairs dept. This is the 4th failed attempt to come and replace 2 blown windows. Originally reported a year ago. They came July to measure up but since November they have cancelled on the day of the appointment 4 times. The last 2 failures were promised that i would definitely not be cancelled again!. Pure words to fob off. I was told to stop shouting last time i called after getting a text and email at 12.25 saying operative would be with me shortly, when at 2.30pm realising no one was coming. The person told me the work was out of his skillset, but the manager, when they called later said the operative walked off the job. I would have appreciated honesty at the very least. I have an 'AT RISK' job raised for my garden but still waiting since March for a surveyor to attend as a matter of urgency. This is how all repairs are treated, with 2 plus attempts to attend at the agreed time. The only person who comes as agreed is the nice gas man. Shame others in the department aren't so punctual. If they turn up today I will eat my hat. I must have known they werent coming as I havent moved any furniture or taken down blinds and curtains. I m 69 and moving all these things isnt easy. Shocking service.
UPDATE: I DIDNT HAVE TO EAT MY HAT. NOT ONLY DIDNT TURN UP AND 1.1/4 HRS HOLDING ON THE PHONE, NO APPOINTMENTS AVAILABLE FOR AT LEAST 5 WEEKS.

Such a very strange and secretive process

Such a very strange and secretive company to try to fathom. They bought up around 40 council house bungalows in Wiltshire, and many of us locals flocked to their website. Only to find that they allocated all of these bungalows to a different company called Seaside and Country Homes. Other locals and myself, especially including a very close but ailing 60 year old friend of mine, given the run around, as Seaside and Country Homes then absolutely insist that applications can ONLY be from residents in London, who are on the council waiting list in London. so 40 of our very suitable bungalows for people with mobility and other problems have been effectively taken away, and given to residents from London. Something does not sit right with this whole set up. Their false advertising (on their vans and other places) of FIRST COME FIRST SERVED, is nonsense, and other comments they make such as "no fuss, no deposit, low rentals, no interviews etc. lead locals to believe all they needed to do was to call Places for People, only to be left on hold for hour after hour and then finally told that these properties will ONLY go to Londoners.
