My elderly relatives’s bathroom sink has come away at the wall and can fall at anytime. She cannot turn the taps on otherwise the water goes straight through and soaks the floor. She has informed PfP and told them this is an emergency, or urgent at the very least, but they said it isn’t and have told her they will fix it in 7 weeks from now. This is disgraceful as she is in her 70s and has health issues (currently waiting for a hernia op and can’t bend down to use the taps in the bath).
I want to take this up with someone more local but I can’t find a number for her local Places for People ‘Community Housing Estate Officer’ in Canterbury (Kent). Has anyone got a phone number or suffered similar in Canterbury?

I shouldn't have to wait nearly 4 hours to speak to someone just to reschedule an appointment. Horrific customer service, despite the actual customer service staff being pleasant and nice, it doesn't excuse the abhorrent wait times. Fix it!!!!

Sewage entering the house through the wall caused by a blacked drain. P4P never answer the phone. Been on hold for an hour on 2 occasions. Cannot get though to them.

TrustPilot ask 'what went wrong this time'?! Sums it up really as far as Places for People are concerned.
So....I have been supporting an old man who rents his home from P4P. The mould situation has now gone to lawyers as its a long winded (18 months and counting) story of complete and absolute negligence by P4P to sort out what started out as a small mould patch then relegated the man to live in his bedroom due to mould damage of the main lounge.
The most recent issue is that in the last month his boiler broke down. So we have moved from the category of 'mold and old' - which doesnt generate a LOT of sympathy from the Powers that Be (they focus their concern on young people/babies when it comes to mold) - to 'cold and old'...... now 'cold and old' IS a thing. According to the local Council 'cold and old' is a red flag. So P4P should be in within 24 to 48hrs to fix this.
Dream on as they say.
Little old man is sitting in his bedroom with the electric heater going (and still cold) waiting WEEKS as P4P do their usual rubbish response of not answering calls (he was waiting on the line for 1.5hrs the other day) and obfuscation. There is no email or person one can writ to. Simply a number no-one answers for days. Finally when he does get thro someone in a vast warehouse of phone operators says 'oh dear so sad we'll sort it bye' and of course nothing ever happens.
So at this point the old man is simply handing the problem to the lawyer for Court Case Number 2.
Its truly astonishing to watch how negligent, impersonal and irresponsible this company is.
But no doubt the CEO is swanning it somewhere balmy with his cronies in the Guv.
I wonder if P4P is a front for a whole new initiative in the UK to basically kill off the natives (altho I could be wrong and make no allegations)....sure seems like they dont give 2 hoots about their renters and the only way to get action is to go legal.

Well I'm disappointed with none of the repairs being sorted as promised always an excuse or a cancellation this has been going on for years
I have pancreatic cancer and osteoarthritis and I have asked for help from our housing manager JOEL ATKINS
He doesn't answer his messages and seems to have made false promises he can't keep
The Huntingdon team working for places for people just don't give a damn about it's tenents
I'm not the first person to complain about them

Reply from Places for People
It took over an hour and a half to get through to a customer service advisor. The company’s web site is designed to reflect away any complaints procedures. They have no simple way of managing up issues with their properties. They have company rules for how long a complaint should take to be resolved. experience shows this rarely happens. Perhaps the business is too large and very badly managed and needs urgent action taken by the housing ombudsman. A total disgrace of a company.

Called to cancel an upcoming appointment, due to illness .. took one (1) hour thirty (30) mins for the call to be picked up by a handler... then I had to be put back on hold, to have the cancelled appointment, rebooked. The on hold call went unanswered ... my call was disconnected, with the call ending at two (2) hours thirty eight (38) mins.

Total lack of communication from the company. Almost 7 weeks since asking a critical query on our property while we are in the process of selling our home. Not a single response from any of the relevant departments. Completely incompetent.
Update 24.04.26 - I've emailed you as requested via the email provided in your response to my review. It's been a week & still no response from anyone. What a joke of a company

As I cant give zero or minus, I've gave a one star. since Tuesday 14 October 2025 I've contacted PFP 5 times to request a boiler service that was due on the 12th. I've portal requested in 12 November, phoned December, wednesday 14 January 2026 (1524201) and again through the portal Tuesday 24 February (19472540) but alas ALL the requests have been closed the following day. I've sent another complaint today wednesday 8 April 2026 but alas it'll be ignored.

I am thoroughly disappointed and disgusted at being treated like scum by office staff who accuse me of being rude when calling office after months and months of major problems!!problems are not being sorted! I would not recommend places for people whatsoever as they only care about your money!do not use them as they promise the world and give you nothing in return!! They haven’t even bothered to ring after my request…..says it all!

Constant power cuts and hearing loud threatening voices from strange men next door to my flat. Some very strange noises coming from the other occupants. The area in which it’s located is terrible and people keep harassing me in this area yet the rent is very high. I have constant power cuts that last hours. My landlord has a real problem with ignoring my complaints so I’ll just write them here. Further more fhe next house along keeps revving his loud car in the morning and aggressively racing in the driveway making me fear for my life. Last night as I returned from my night out in bath I saw a couple of large intimidating men burning some kind of insence to try to intimidate me and blocking off the ally way. I want a refund of all the money I have spent here.

I have tried to ring the local office and a.. so called main office about an ongoing issue with a neighbour. I have put in a complaint which is going on with the police. I. Allegedly know about other complaints. That places for People really ignore. An absolute amount of rubbish/ Stolen items. I have photos of his Graffiti. But Places for People and. The police have no interest. Even though I have All the Appalling notes that really prove his appalling Narsistic Behaviour. Beggars belief.

We live in the top floor and have a flat roof. Not for the first time our roof leaked just before Christmas. I just found out last week that the repair work was completed at the end of January. The scaffolding was eventually taken down two days ago some two months after the work was completed. We’ve had teenagers playing on the scaffolding and I phoned PFP to tell them this. Waiting on the phone for nearly one and a half hours made me really angry. You’re right I am not at all satisfied. William Erskine. Ps we are still waiting for a painter to paint the hall and bathroom ceilings that were water damaged due to the leak.

An atrocious company especially when it comes to getting a response to a complaint they have gone against what’s written in my tenancy time and time again and ignore me it’s worrying really they do not upkeep the exterior of homes even their own trades man have a lot of negative things to say about how they just look for ways to charge customers
I have been dealing with a new area manager for a while and I’ll be blunt he has done nothing will not even respond in resolver I have local mp involved and the police and the oumbudsman and still I can’t get anywhere because he I won’t name names refuses to reply

Myself and my partner were first time buyers , had no clue where to start. Places for people at the gwel has made this stressful and confusing process really simple. A big shout out to Louise, she has been amazing.
Definitely would recommend if you are trying to get on the property ladder for shared ownership!

"If I could give zero stars
If I could give zero stars, I would. None of their processes seem to work their repairs service is ineffective and simply does not work. Their trades people are always rushing which inevitably means they do half jobs and have to come back a second or third time.
They often cancel their apts meaning you've booked annual leave for nothing. Their employees will secretly share how unhappy they are with their managers and within their roles with the same managers being there for years with serious attitude problems.
They've recently changed their website log in process and it does not work on mobile phones. By the time they send you a code, they've logged you out again lol. Its easier to log into my bank, any bank than it is to log into PFPs website. I am at a loss as to how any organisation can be so happless as to literally getting everything wrong."
They try and cheap out on everything. Their website is awful.
I am unable to login to the customer portal. It says the password is incorrect again. I cannot reset it via email or phone, it says I am unable to do that YET again.
I have been on the phone for 20 minutes! 20 MINUTES whilst I'm meant to be working oddly enough for a Software Development company, as a developer. I KNOW THIS RIDICULOUSNESS IS NOT NORMAL AND THEY PROBABLY TRIED TO CUT COSTS YET AGAIN BY CHEAPING OUT. And whilst I'm on hold it tells me YOU can help train me on IT (HA!!!!!!) And then tries to send you to the portal. It would be laughable if it wasn't so annoying!!!! Come on places for people, it's pure silliness that in 2026 i cant reset my password!
There are options to offer customers to reset their passwords that actually work, you know. Try one.
I absolutely guarantee no one is hacking my account to pay my rent.
I wish they would.
