Very poor heating been off for 4 months and still keep saying 5 weeks and 5 weeks later 5 weeks more absolutely worst housing association in the country still waiting

Reply from Places for People
Absolutely appalled and furious with the shocking treatment from Places for People.
We have been waiting **8 weeks** for a simple bathroom repair — eight weeks of chasing, waiting, and getting nowhere. Then when an appointment was finally arranged, it was **cancelled without a single word of warning**. No call, no message — just complete disregard.
We rearranged again and I made sure to be at home for **two full days straight**, only for **no one to show up at all**. After having to chase them myself, I’m then told it had been cancelled — again, without bothering to inform us. The sheer lack of communication is unbelievable.
And now? We’re expected to just accept waiting until ** April** like this is normal.
This isn’t just poor service — it’s outright neglect. My dad is living with dementia**, and he’s been left without a properly functioning bathroom because of repeated failures and incompetence. This is a vulnerable elderly man being completely let down.
The lack of accountability, the broken promises, the wasted time, and the total disrespect shown to us is disgraceful. Eight weeks of delays, being left sitting in the house for days for nothing, and not even the basic decency of a phone call — it’s beyond unacceptable.
Places for People should be ashamed of how they treat their tenants. This experience has been nothing short of a complete failure from start to finish.

Good communication, I’m very polite and very helpful

Only lived here a short time whenever I report a issue they either say it's my job to fix it or the job gets cancelled. All my gutters are cracked got a issue with my front door. They increase the rent then tell you it's your job to fix everything

Absolutely disgusting company. Had tenants move next door to my 75 year old grandmother and caused nothing but problems. Constant noise, banging, loud music and screaming from the tenant and the multiple people she has in the house all throughout the night and into early hours of the morning. Not to mention the smell of drugs which floods the whole housing estate as she lives there with her 6 year old supposedly “autistic son” who is “non verbal.” Even children whom are “non verbal” screech and make noise yet she continues to blame the banging noise onto him. How come it started around 11pm and continues all through the night but silent all day whilst she sleeps all day and lets her kid run riot. My nan can’t even sit in her own back garden and hasn’t been able to for over a year due to the 3/4 large dogs jumping over her fence and even entering my grandmothers property. She conveniently likes to move the dogs elsewhere when she knows a visit is due and then brings them back several days later. This situation is so out of control and my grandmother is living in absolute fear. Cheryl Lock who is supposed to be handling the situation is nothing but a waste of space and frequently belittles our concerns. ABSOLUTELY SHAMEFUL.

Avoid this H/A at all costs, you wait and wait for repairs to be done. Communication is bad, you have to call them, they dont keep you updated on any progress.
The only good thing I can say is that all workmen that have been to my home have been brilliant,

Reported my broken insecure door in January 2025. They lost my repair and re reported it in march 2025 it’s been over a year and I get repeat appointments to fix it cancelled an hour before the time slot, I have lost 5 days annual leave e waiting in for this repair. Shocking company repairs with my neighbours are also not being carried out. I have contacted housing ombudsman for advice

Mould not dealt with, concave ceiling patch in lounge under bathroom that I always feel looks like its about to collapse that they “solved” by plastering a crack. Rent rising quite alot, by fifty pound a month in six years for us. Really grumpy staff and definitely an air as if you should simply be grateful which naturally anyone is for a home, but a sense of snobbery to their client and we do pay. Constantly ensuring new builds are looking great, while old council houses they bought remain dilapidated. Some dodgy neighbours (drug selling, anti social behaviour) never dealt with as they seem scared to tackle those people for the rest of us trying to live quietly.

You're one of the worst housing ass in greater Manchester corrupt breaking tenancy agreements let a Muppet company run your business like touchstone you get ignored when you report problems one of the biggest mistakes places for people mad was getting involved with touchstone cowboy company asking for 750 for a 1 bed apartment what a joke it needs a complete refresh to get that I can get a 2 bedroom house for 495 in another town in a nice area places for people corrupt tell lies our properties were designed for over 55s not young immigrants or refugees as we have emergency pull cords obviously these are designed for elderly people not young anyone's especially refugees crap companies will take your money but do nothing ignore you I had to threaten them with legal actions to get my weather boarding done all they did was screw back rotten wood onto the property they don't care about tenants was better when it was north British housing association at least they cared these properties never get inspected never get assessed properly not worth 750 pm worth about 500 at the most as so much work wants doing don't trust touchstone or places for people crap

Where do I start?... The most recent job was to replaster around my door frames, what do they do? Use wall filler (that I could've done better myself) this was 4 days ago and it's still not dry and is not finished. We've only just had a new kitchen fitted after 9 years of arguing with them. We got told it would all be done in one day. Nope! It took 2 separate days with a week in between both appointments. Did they finish? Nope! We've got to finish it ourselves. Absolute joke! I would never go with a housing association again after this. We're currently making the ball roll with legal action of disrepair.

Shocking to say the least problems after problems! Repairs never getting fixed sending the wrong people all the time! As for the rent going up is a joke yet can’t fixed the issue due to money or time scale of the worker wanted to be home by half 4 complaint after complaint in but nothing gets done shocking

This is my second review. My neighbours and I have not had hot water for almost a week. It's sometimes warm, sometimes lukewarm. A contractor came to the flat on the evening of Thursday 19th to check if the water was hot. At that precise time, it seemed to be. However, the following morning, it was lukewarm again. So frustrating, I have to boil my kettle to have a wash in the morning and to wash my dishes. Biggest mistake of my life was moving here.

Places For People cannot communicate. They have taken 5/6 weeks to complete my bathroom and kitchen and it’s not complete. I am still left with no boiler since Saturday. No hot water or heating. Emily Feeney ignores emails - I have raised multiple complaints and no one bothers to speak to me. I was left with no kitchen light for over a week, including 2 weeks with no ceiling. No kitchen countertops until 2 weeks ago. No washing machine as they didn’t plug it in properly, which lead to a leak downstairs. And you want to increase my rent an extra £8 a month when you can’t even fix my flat? Oh, let’s not mention the asbestos that’s in my ceiling that should have been dealt with before I moved in. What a joke of a housing association. I thought Curo were bad but you guys are so much worse.

June 2024 leak in loft...reported and fixed the same day.
Damage to ceiling.....reported.
Asbestos people arrived 6 months later, took a section away and left a 2 sq metre gaping hole. You could see the roof. Insulation constantly fall down onto the stairs.
I'm 69 and had to go up a ladder and close the hole with bin bags.
Several months later it was patched with plastic sheeting by an independent contractor.
Maintenance guys have been and left, maybe 7 times. Always an excuse that they can't fix it because they don't have a particular kind of ladder etc.
Gas inspection date has changed 4 times in 2 weeks. Still not been done.
Front bedroom window is leaking and I was told I have to fix it myself. I said I'll leave it and see if the water gets inside the brickwork thus coursing black mould.
Not problem with the maintenance guys when they turn up but the do seem in despair with the company.
PFP performance is dismal.
Just hope they don't win the contract again.
Resurrect Derwent living
THE CEILING HAS STILL NOT BEEN FIXED.
1 YEAR AND 7 MONTHS LATER

17 year old family member lost both his parents and was left without a roof over his head. Midlothian Council suggested this was his best chance of securing his own space (he would not survive in hostel style accomodation).
End of September 2025 he was successful in a bid with Places for People and gratefully accepted. To date (17th of Feb 2026) the property is still with the voids team due to a pending "heating upgrade".
October 2025 told quotes being considered, then told lack of trades. Heating upgrade confirmed to go ahead Jan 2026. Jan comes told wrong part had been ordered so job cancelled. Later in Jan told right part was in, electricians working overtime for Mid Feb entry date. Mid Feb comes, 2 emails, 48minute on hold phone call, another phone call later... "Sorry, entry date has been pushed to April". No explanation given.
Lettings team lovely to speak to and try their best but seem to be scapegoats for uncontactable voids team & management.
How is anyone, nevermind a vulnerable young person meant to navigate this system? They are at the mercy of this organisation and we are starting to realise that they are well aware of this.

I had a plumber & a Joiner come out for an ongoing issue I’ve been having for 4 years.
The lads were class they went above and beyond to restore my faith in the let down and failure of service I’ve been having for 4 years prior.
They were so friendly, reassuring and they did not leave until I was satisfied and the repair was handled. The customer care was out of this world and they were overall just top lads. Friendly, happy to be at work & no job was too big or small or a problem.
They are a credit to places for people and hope that the other workers can learn a thing or too from them! After such a crap experience with Places for People previously they have really raised the bar high again for me personally. Thanks Lads, forgot to ask names but I’m sure it was Gaz & Lewis 👍🏻

My mother died in the new year and trying to talk to somebody to explain her death the address to send the certificate of death which is all they seem to want I asked for them to check on her rent a status I've not heard anything back from them I do actually feel sorry for anyone who's renting property from memory especially regarding the reviews that I've read and also how long we have left to clear the property it's just a nightmare a real nightmare
