Planning Alerts published plans for my…

Planning Alerts published plans for my house conversion on the internet without my consent . The plans included my full name and full address for anyone to find where I live . This is a GDPR breach of personal information. I contacted them limitless number of times asking them to remove my personal data , also warned them that I will take legal action against them, but I had zero replies from them . I consulted a solicitor and reported them to the ICO , now waiting for things to go their legal way and I will ask for a compensation.

Hi,
We cannot find any inbound information requests or queries about our service in relatioin to any topics of this nature. Can you please email info@planningalerts.ie and we can investigate. We have searched through our records for any references to "Syed", but there are no results.

Please note all data on the Planning Alerts service (and published on the website) is available from the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage's open data service. The service consumes this "open data" which is published under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence. See https://data.gov.ie/dataset/national-planning-applications for more.

What may be happening here is that the Planning Alerts service is linking to the local authority listing on the Council's website. Your details will be published by the Council, but they do not share this with us and, therefore, we cannot publish it on Planning Alerts.

Our suggestion is that you email us with your planning file reference number and the local authority name where you submitted your planning application, and we can check things out better at our end from there.

Our FAQ includes information on the type of information we store and publish:
https://www.planningalerts.ie/about
"I applied for planning permission in the past. Are my personal details listed on this site?"
"No. PlanningAlerts.ie does not store or process any personal information from any of the Irish planning registers. The data on this website is made available to us by the Dept. of Housing, Planning & Local Government as open data but it does not contain any applicant information. This level of detail is usually published on local authority websites and we link out to the relevant result pages for you to quickly check the applicant at source. This feature forms part of our overall GDPR strategy."

UPDATE: Aug 19th 2024:
Is it possible that you are mixing our Irish service up with a UK service? Another reviewer recently posted a 1-star review in error before deleting once they realised they had left a review for the wrong planning company!
Our company is based exclusively in Republic of Ireland, while it appears from your review that you are based in UK (referring to "ICO", which is UK and not Irish).
We'd appreciate it if you could delete this review if you have left this review in error.
Other company posting personal data: https://planning.org.uk/
Our company: https://www.planningalerts.ie
I hope this helps.

Hi Carol,
Can you please elaborate further? I noticed you created your account on March 18th and you received your first planning alert a few days after? I see you have received 3 alerts in total, which is one per week? Our alerts are issued on a weekly basis as we only receive weekly updates from the Council data sources. Hope this helps. Disappointed to receive a 1-star review when the system is working fine for you and you hadn't reached out for support with any queries.

Unfortunately Planning Alert has not…

Unfortunately Planning Alert has not yet notified me of a planning application just beside my house that went in a week ago. Since there is a limited time to send in a submission I feel that planning alert should be faster in notifying members.

HI Geraldline, we receive the data for PlanningAlerts.ie as soon as it is mapped by the Council. In some cases, the application goes live and the notice appears in the paper as well as outside the property, but it will not have been mapped in the Council's digital system within that first week for various operational reasons. In these rare situations there will be a delay for a few days. There are actually five weeks to make a submission on any planning application in Ireland. The slight delay has never been raised as a problem for that reason, until now. The PlanningAlerts.ie is live for the past 3.5 years, and nobody has raised an issue if an alert is not received in the first week. Apologies for any inconvenience.

Hi Barry,
Thanks for taking the time to review. Sorry you weren't satisfied with the user experience. This is our first negative review. Looking at previous Trustpilot feedback and from feedback we receive directly through the service, subscribers generally seem happy with the usability. The retention rate is high among users and they've indicated it all works well for them. Sorry for the experience you encountered.

A "one off " view

My interest is in one planning application only; at present anyway.
I've logged in several times to check that, and I find that all the information I need is to be found there, so I woul rate it as a very good system.
