Positive Overall
The testing experience was fairly seamless, and I found the process of applying for and scheduling the exam to be straightforward. Unfortunately, I did not see any available options for testing remotely, but that was ok because the testing centers near me had adequate availability. The communication around when I would receive my results was misleading; my submission screen said I would receive my results within 48 hours, but I was pleasantly surprised to receive a printout when I left the testing center.
PMI Exam Prep Experience (honest feedback)
PMI Study Hall Experience – April 2026 (Honest Feedback)
In preparation for the PMP exam, I used many of the commonly recommended resources (AR and DMcL YouTube videos, AR’s exam prep book and eCourse, DMcL’s Udemy course, Pocket Prep, and PMI Study Hall). In my opinion, PMI Study Hall mirrored the actual PMP exam more closely than any other resource I used. I completed four full-length practice exams in Study Hall, and by the time I sat for the real exam, it genuinely felt like just another practice test. I cannot stress the importance of this enough.
Study Hall does an excellent job preparing you for the scenario-based nature of the PMP questions, which—at first—can feel like an entirely different language. Much of the exam content feels removed from day-to-day, real-world project management, so practicing within the “PMI mindset” is essential, and Study Hall delivers strongly in this area.
That said, there is clear room for improvement, particularly in the quality and consistency of the answer explanations. Given the standards expected of PMP credential holders, I was surprised by the lack of consistency. I expected the quality of service to reflect the level of excellence PMI promotes. Some explanations are thorough and well-written, while others are vague or entirely unhelpful. In some cases, explanations appear to reference incorrect or unrelated content, suggesting copy/paste errors. Others simply state that “the other answers are incorrect because they are not correct,” which does nothing to improve understanding or reinforce learning.
PMI also offers PMI Infinity, an AI-based tool designed to support project management learning. During my preparation, I encountered multiple instances where Infinity’s explanations directly contradicted the correct answers provided in Study Hall. Even when I challenged Infinity by reinforcing PMI Study Hall’s position, Infinity occasionally doubled down and explicitly stated that Study Hall was incorrect. This was particularly surprising given that both tools are PMI-supported. While I recognize that AI is imperfect, it is concerning when one PMI product directly contradicts another.
In the interest of continuous improvement, I provided this feedback to PMI and shared several specific examples of these discrepancies. Although I did receive a response, I did not feel the concern was adequately addressed. PMI stood by the Study Hall explanations but did not meaningfully address the inconsistencies with Infinity. The response also overlooked the broader issue of explanation quality and consistency. Perhaps most interesting was the closing line of the email: “Thank you for being a valued PMI customer.” This stood out to me, as PMI positions itself as a professional association, not simply a customer-based service provider.
Overall, I’ve given my experience three stars. Despite its shortcomings, I do not believe there is another resource that prepares you more closely for the actual PMP exam. It is not perfect, and there are areas that require improvement, but if you can accept those limitations and stay focused on the ultimate goal—passing the exam—it is an effective tool. For the record, I passed the PMP on my first attempt with Above Target scores in all domains.
I enjoyed the exam
I enjoyed the exam, and the study hall information provided by PMI. I did however feel strongly (Reddit a strong driver of this), that I had to seek third party information to learn the appropriate mindset/skills for the exam. Outside of practice exams, I did not find PMI provided training content incredibly helpful.
Joining the organization and scheduling…
Joining the organization and scheduling for the exam was very easy to navigate. Results from exam were very fast.
Great experience for sure.
PMI Professionalism
I’ve been wanting to earn my PMP for quite some time, and the PMI process made that goal feel very achievable. From the application through exam scheduling, everything was straightforward and easy to navigate. The requirements were clearly outlined, and I always knew what my next step needed to be.
PMI has built a well-structured and professional certification experience. The resources, communication, and overall organization gave me confidence that I was working toward a meaningful and respected credential. It’s been a genuinely positive experience from start to finish, and I’m glad I finally pursued and obtained my PMP.
Preparation for my PMP certification…
Preparation for my PMP certification went really good with PMI Study hall and PMBOK guide.
Organised and Structured
They are a well organised and structured institution. Exams was well proctored, had technical issues while taking my exam but help was offered and problem was rectified asap.
Well structured process to obtain pmp

I like the fact that PMI provides all the necessary study materials for their exams.
Great experience overall
Great experience overall! The exam was tough and really makes you earn the certification by testing your core knowledge. It’s a fantastic way to level up your skills and gain a deeper understanding of project management.
What PMI is Doing Well
The focus on the credibility of their certifications, the breadth of resources available to members, and their forward-thinking integration of AI into the profession. I also like their emphasis on "power skills" beyond technical skills, prioritizing strategic thinking and business acumen to help project managers drive large-scale organizational change. Last but not least, a huge shoutout to the PMI Support Team! Their responsiveness and expertise were a game-changer for my PMP journey.

It's been great experience in giving PMP exam at Pearson centre . Staff was friendly and cooperative.
Great tool for studying.
Great test preparation tool. Great mock exams, lots of information to learn from. Helpful games to remember materials.
PMI Actually Wants You to Pass
I appreciated the amount of support PMI offers. Free classes, paid options, practice exams, study halls — they covered all the bases. It felt like they actually wanted me to pass, not just collect a fee. That kind of investment in the candidate makes a real difference.
I passed the exam and am now a certified project manager.
Extreme variation in pmp questions
Extreme variation in pmp questions. Its mere luck and not preparation. That should not be how PM gets certified.
PMI requirements were clear
PMI requirements were clear. While challenging, they were attainable. I really appreciated the speed of the exam feedback. Although a bit pricey, the fees were worth it.
PMP Exam is a poor measure of PM Skills
Contradicting information, especially when it comes to elaborating information from PMBOK. Very open ended questions that are subjective, very unclear what the right answer is. There are too many questions where the options are all wrong or not the best course of action in a real-life scenario. Too much emphasis on the generalizations of the material that doesn’t matter and is not important or specific enough to real-life scenarios. Not enough focus on business practices that are similar across industries, such as components of a plan or best practices. Not enough math related questions. Also far too long of an exam for what is encompassed.
My experience with the Project…
My experience with the Project Management Institute was excellent from start to finish. The application process was straightforward, and the instructions were clear and easy to follow. I appreciated how organized everything was, which made submitting my PMP application much less stressful.
The resources provided were helpful and aligned well with real-world project management practices. Communication was timely, and the overall process felt professional and well-structured.
I would definitely recommend PMI to anyone looking to advance their project management career.
