Unethical company with false advertising.

The company shipped a Dolphin robotic cleaner in a clearly damaged package with all the components in disarray. Nothing was packaged properly. We asked the company to return it as we wanted a new product. They agreed to take it back but refused to pay for shipping. Their web page clearly states: “risk free for 30 days, free returns” but they do not honor their word. They would not provide a shipping label. Do not use this company as they have deceptive advertising.

I ordered a cleaner and smart pool…

I ordered a cleaner and smart pool monitor. Neither product worked properly. For the pool cleaner, it was missing parts and screws. Luckily, I noticed before 30 days and was able to return it. They wanted me to pay for shipping which I told them was ridiculous and they did end up sending me a shipping label.

For the pool monitor, it was a much worse situation. It looks longer than 30 days for me to realize it wasn't working, which meant I had to chat with the manufacturer. They were responsive at debugging but eventually required me to get a replacement for one of the parts. It needed to be shipped from poolbots but they were unresponsive and didn't respond until I filed a chargeback. They required me to pay for shipping the broken part. They sent a replacement and it turns on that wasn't the issue. They were supposed to send me new probes but only sent one. Just a terrible experience to work with. Their production quality is clearly awful

Bait and switch

To Whom It May Concern,

I purchased a $1,600 Maytronics robotic pool vacuum through PoolBots under the clear impression—based on sales information—that the unit would notify me when the filters required cleaning. This was one of the main features that justified paying a premium price.

After struggling through 45 minutes with offshore service, I was told that the unit does not in fact have this capability. That is a material omission and misrepresentation. There was no way for me to discover this until after purchase and use.

When I called PoolBots, the manager admitted she was unaware of this limitation but then dismissed my concern with a “no returns after 30 days” stance. That position is unacceptable. Denying escalation by simply routing me to “another manager” rather than to a director or executive is equally dismissive.

This is not a matter of preference—it is a textbook example of bait and switch: advertising or selling a product as though it includes a feature it does not. In California, and in most states, this constitutes misrepresentation and is actionable under consumer protection law.

Accordingly, I am prepared to:

File a formal complaint with the California Attorney General for deceptive business practices.

Initiate a chargeback with my credit card company, as the product was sold under false pretenses.

Pursue Small Claims Court, where judges consistently take a dim view of consumers being misled.

My preferred resolution is simple: accept return of the unit and provide me with the model that does, in fact, include the advertised filter notification feature—or issue a full refund.

Please consider this a final opportunity to resolve the matter directly.

Avoid Poolbots.com at all cost

I recently purchased a refurbished robot from Poolbots, and I must express my utter dismay. While I understand that "refurbished" implies a used item, I was not prepared for the condition in which I received the robot. It was evident that this device had been through several owners, and the state it arrived in was downright unacceptable.
Upon opening the package, I was horrified to find hair lodged in the motor outlet and the brushes and rollers heavily stained and filthy. It felt more like I had received someone else's discarded appliance than a refurbished product that had been properly cleaned and serviced.
When I contacted Poolbots to discuss returning the unit, I was informed that I would be responsible for the return shipping costs, which is incredibly frustrating given the circumstances. Now, I am out $108 for a product that should have never been resold in such a condition.
I strongly advise anyone considering Poolbots to look elsewhere. My experience has been overwhelmingly negative, and I believe there are far better options in the market.
