I would give 0 stars if I could

I would give 0 stars if I could. I bought 4 of them for my house and they slowly removed all functionality from the device minus video calls because they decided the device was a flop. Leaving us who bought them hanging. They are worthless to me now. Never buying anything from Meta again.

Throughout lockdown my portal was…

Throughout lockdown my portal was awesome - especially doing story time with grandkids.
However, I'm not impressed so much now that meta have removed stories added nothing new and not updated any of the features (backgrounds, facial changes, feelings)
Also not happy the stories occasionally break down half way through.

How is this allowed on the market

How is this allowed on the market? The photo display element on the portal is shoddy. Always getting stuck on one single photo. Even with the heavy discounts, you are better off buying something that works and gets the basics right. And META... stick to Facebook on this evidence.

Excellent for video calls and checking…

Excellent for video calls and checking WhatsApp. Easy to set up and use.
I purchased it mainly for Teams however and was disappointed. The app that Microsoft allow to be downloaded will only allow you to log on with a business account. I do voluntary work for a County Council and have to chair Teams meetings. Alas, as my account with the council is not a business one, the Teams function is not available to me. Hence I have only given 3 stars

Displays whatever photos it wants

The device is great for video calls but beyond frustrating with the photo display. Typical breach of privacy by Facebook to display any photos it chooses not the photos I’ve selected. What’s the point of having created albums and selecting the photos I want to display only to see it displaying photos I don’t want displaying. No support by Facebook what so ever. All the support videos just show the obvious but doesn’t help remove these unwanted videos. A very annoying let down with no

Portal Go: pathetic, unreliable charging port

The charging input is about the worst designed device I have ever seen. If you move the Portal Go by mistake, even slightly, it fails to charge. The charging disc is far too loose; the spring-loaded buttons make matters worse; you get no warning at all that this device is not charging; and worst of all, the battery is so feeble it just drains itself even though unused. This is a VERY POOR PERFORMANCE indeed by Meta. Designers have evidently been so focussed on easy movement and a “nice look” that they didn’t do the obvious thing – have a USB plug-in. Real rocket science, eh guys?
This is a pathetic failure and I’m EXTREMELY dissatisfied. If there is a way for me to get round this truly stupid design fail, please let me know. I’m totally fed up with it all, having lost yet another Zoom call because of Meta ineptitude.

PS: The “follow you around” function doesn’t work as advertised, either.

Two days waiting in for nothing!

Product ordered didn't arrive, waited in all day, Yodel lied and said we weren't in when they attempted delivery and they would deliver next day. Meanwhile Meta day the product had been returned and they are refunding my money. Yodel still saying it will arrive today. Two days sitting in waiting for nothing. Meta supposed to be calling me at 12 9m to discuss more 12.50, not a word from them. Crummy service all round and no compensation for my wasted two days wait. Disgusted.

Remote? No no.

Wanted to buy a new remote as my 1 year old put it in the washing machine. Even though I wanted to pay (1 year had passed) I couldn’t get a link to the buy page. It’s not very clear on the webpage. After numerous emails and chats (if your phone goes into sleep mode you loose the chat) I gave up.
Husband ordered a new remote and took 2 months to arrive. They we’re still sending him emails sighting (we are looking into why your remote hasn’t arrived) months after the remote arrived.

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER !!!!!

Facebook has one of the worst customer services Please read this before purchasing any facebook products. I bought a portal tv from facebook.com and I returned it in January 2022 due to technical issues. Facebook warehouse received it in a week. Today is March 14th, 2022 (almost 2 months) I'm trying to get my refund. There is NO phone, chat support, the only option is to get support via email. And you are lucky if you get a reply back. The customer service team feels like they are doing a favor by replying to you. I have been patiently waiting for more than 8 weeks after returning the product and have yet to receive an update from the customer service team. PLEASE READ THIS and consider it before buying the portal products. My only hope is that Facebook leadership see this message and fix their customer service.

Worst customer service - Don't ever buy a portal product

There's no phone support, only chat option. So it's very laborious to explain your situtation, escalate the issue etc.

My portal TV remote stopped working within an year of purchase (which apparenly is pretty common with Portal TV)

Dec-12th - Contacted chat support explaining my problem
Had to chat for 3-4 times again in next 2 weeks to get a confirmation that they will replace the Portal TV.
Returned the item on 14th Jan which reached their warehouse on 20th Jan

Now the real fun begins......
Waited patiently for 10 days without any update from them

3rd Feb - Contacted to get a status, team asked that we are still researching and wait for 3-5 days
11th Feb - Contacted again, customer support said we are looking and need more time
16th Feb - Contacted again, still researching with no update. Asked to wait 3-5 days.

It's been two months without Portal TV and nobody from customer service cares about that.

Worked fine for 11 months then broke

Worked fine for 11 months then broke, the Portal Support was absolutely useless, over a 2 month period of emails back and forth and being asked to return my faulty goods, I was told only part of the goods I returned had been received even though I had used Portals shipping agent and they do not cover insurance for your goods, so I told it was my job to track why only part of my returned goods had been received.
So if you are asked to return any goods take pictures of it packed into the packaging so you cannot be blamed 🤯

Diabolical…

The support provided has been nothing short of diabolical. I have been trying to order portal products since November and have placed 3 orders each time following the support team saying the issue was resolved. I also asked if they would honour the discount offer at the time i placed my original order.. NO

They are the worst things invented

They are the worst things invented. They are a nightmare to setup and adding favourites was a nightmare trying to save and you can only use favourites when your phone is on wifi and WhatsApp is on. Would have given minus 1 but it wouldn't let me. I wouldn't ever recommend a portal to anyone. By the way I am excellent with technology and its not just me finding these problems.

Poor Photo Slideshow

Recently bought two portals for video conferencing and as a digital photo frame.
Video calling works well but the photo frame functionality is poor.
It shows the same few photos over and over again, getting stuck sometimes. It’s also always the same order, there is no random function.
If these issues are fixed it would be much better.

I’ve been really impressed with our…

I’ve been really impressed with our Portal Go. I use it to keep in touch with family & also have virtual meetings. I love that it has a Smart Camera which ensures you are always in the frame meaning I can be chasing after the kids & sorting them when needed while still remaining in frame on the call.

My kids love the Story Time feature where you can become storybook characters with music and animation. It’s a lovely way for relatives to be involved with the kids.

It has got all my photos & I love that it becomes a photo frame too!

The camera is fab quality & I’ve been very impressed

fabulous for catching up with family

Having family living miles and miles away, plus with the various restrictions the portal has been absolute saviour for our family. It’s allowed grandparents to watch their grandchildren grow. The portal TV is amazing, we can all sit and chat rather than passing the phone around plus little hands don’t accidentally put the phone down.

No sure why this has so many bad…

No sure why this has so many bad reviews. I bought 2 for a good price via Amazon. They have been a god send through the covid epidemic. I have family in Jersey and it's been great to be able to keep in touch this way. I bought the ones that go onto your TV & it's like the family are in the room. The only negative is that the updates can take a few minutes to do so always need to turn it on about 10 mins before you're due to chat.
