SCAM AND RIPOFF> The sticker they put on the card which tells you to register it covers the 16 didgit code and when i peeled it off, it peeled off half the code so its useless. Now if I try and contact them they wont help unless i give them the original receipt and fax them a copy (Fax??? Is this 1992?) of my ID and info... When i try and use it as a regular card and swipe it, it will NOT go through... SCAM
Potential Fraud Waiting to happen
Was given a giftcard from Prepaidbalance.com with everything from the activation code to the proof of purchase from QFC in Edmonds, WA. When I went to verify it via their website, I was met with an error and to call the 888 number. After being put on hold, I was informed that this card was blocked because of too many attempts to use it. It was a brand new card with all the packaging and codes in place. The only way I could use the card would be to use their *help* and send proof of my identity, via a governmental issued ID, phone number and the card. I said no way due to I protect my identity and would not send an ID to this company which has a bad reputation. Because I work hard to keep all my information safe, I have experience identity theft before, I decided right there I would go ahead and just *eat* the 100 gift card. This is so fraught with potential identity theft that it is scary. I'd rather lose $100. 00 than gain a headache. I just feel very bad that my aunt who gave me the card is out $100.00. I would feel worse if I or anyone else would be exposed to worse things via the internet scams. DO NOT PURCHASE FROM THIS COMPANY.
My brother sends me gift cards since he…
My brother sends me gift cards since he lives in another state. These visa cards never work and i asked him , why buy these things when money is good? dumb just does dumb. customer service is a joke and they just phishing for your personal info. do not ever buy gift cards when money is just fine. i would rate them a 0 but it doesn't allow you to.
These cards are a scam
These cards are a scam. I am joining many people to report it. The card has been ordered online and it has been sent to us by mail. However, it never worked and the money were stollen almost immediately. The company deactivated the card and they have asked me to send the copy of the card. I faxed all documents twice and every time I was told the docs was not good enough.
Do not buy cards from this company, you will lose the money.
US Bank won't replace tampered $500 gift card. 5 separate Faxes all "too dark."
My mother in law bought a $500 gift card at QFC. The QFC clerk handed her a tampered gift card where the CVV code had been scratched off. We've now spent a month sending multiple faxes to US Bank with the information they requested to replace the card, and each time they say the "faxes are too dark." This is just a scam to cheat people out of money. US Bank is so worthless and criminal. Avoid doing business with them in any way.
It's a scam
I can't use the money inside it's a scam!! Don't buy it!!!!
Scam
My gift card worked for a while, then suddenly stopped. I went to the website and always got an error message. I called the number on the back of the card. They said my card was inactive as a fraud precaution. Also, that the only way to activate it was by faxing them, pictures of the card and my government ID. I live in a remote area and have no access to a fax machine. When I registered my card, I gave them the phone number I was calling from. They knew that that phone number was associated with the card. Other places allow other ways to send the information needed. For all practical purposes, they have stolen the balance of my card for me. Looking at the other reviews. It sounds like many others have this problem. They are pocketing the money that people pay for these gift cards and can’t use.
Do not buy these cards
Do not buy these cards! It's a scam! I got a card for Xmas. Tried to pre registered as the card says. Was told it had been flagged for Fraud, brand new card. Ok. Clicked the link that card doesn't work and it wants my name, phone number, email address, all the card info plus pictures of all that and PROOF of purchase, which I obviously don't have, since it was a gift.. anyways call customer service they tell me to do the link again and send picture of card as proof. So I got back on and now link doesn't work and it tells me to call number again. Now they want me to FAX the documents to them... who has a fax machine anymore? So I have to pay to send this fax from a place I have to track down? I asked for a new link or email address. Nope. Fax. Call again complain it doesn't work.... sucks for me but mostly feel bad about person who bought me card. DO NOT BUY this brand!!! Thief's!
Folks this has gone full circle
Folks this has gone full circle. I called Mastercard, the cards you are buying are printed by Krogers! I finally got the Krogers financial ass to give me the 10 digit serial number, and the worst part is when I called mastercard again they said it was fake too. Krogers and US Bank are on the web linked at the hip doing there own credit card and gift card and banking bs. But the reviews say it all, I lost$260.00, STAY AWAY FROM ANYTHING TO DO WITH KROGERS OR US BANK! PLEASE
Tried to use it at Walmart for some…
Tried to use it at Walmart for some groceries. Wouldn't go through. Get online to see if I need to activate it and boy, what a scam. This is not a legitimate business.
Scammers
This company is either operated by individuals lacking basic sense or is a meticulously organized scam.
My card got blocked the moment I tried it for online shopping.
Retrieving my money has turned into an exasperating ordeal.
They requested my ID via fax (seriously, who still uses fax?), and when I sent it, they complained about the photo being too dark (inevitable with faxed images). Now, I'm forced to send it via mail, but they provide only a PO box, making it impossible to send a certified letter. This opens the door for them to deny receiving it, and I have a sinking feeling that's precisely what will occur.
After being able to make one purchase…
After being able to make one purchase through ebay, i haven't been able to use my card. $500 gift card, $30 purchase that went through, then card shut down for suspected fraud. Nothing as simple as a phone call or website visit to clear it up. Need to fax copies of card and id and if everything goes well I should have access to my gift in.3- 5 days. If you plan.on purchasing a gift card for someone, make sure it doesn't involve prepaidgiftbalance.com.
ABSOLUTE FRAUD - AVOID AT ALL COSTS
ABSOLUTE FRAUD. Two different gift cards from two different family members showing a ten cent balance. I have two separate family members that spent their money on gift cards from this institution within a month. In both cases, the cards were supposed to have a $25 balance.
I literally opened up the cards from their original packaging, registered the card on their janky website only to find someone else had registered them and depleted all but ten cents from the balance.
Customer service was worthless: They needed to talk to the "original cardholder" (which is me, but the website is showing a different person in another state - I googled this person and they don't show up on google as a human in existence.)
They wanted me to FAX A COPY OF MY DRIVERS LICENSE along with images of the gift card in order to dispute the charges.
A company committing fraud wants me to send them a fax of my drivers license! RIGHT!
Screw this company - they are either intentionally committing fraud or they are grossly negligent to fraudulent activity affecting their cards and not able to prevent it from happening.
Dennis McClure is a plant
According to Dennis, the only problem with prepaidgiftbalance.com cards are the simpletons who use them and aren't smart enough to use the internet properly. And Google for allowing mysterious hackers to hack websites. If what Dennis suggests is true, wouldn't all gift cards have similar problems?
In other words, don't buy these gift cards. There are plenty of legitimate companies you can do business with.
His argument is preposterous. I've used dozens of gift cards, and I've never had difficulties like these before. Why are the customers of prepaidgiftbalance.com the only ones to have this problem?
Do not buy gift cards from this company! Use a different one!
They are the absolute worst company for gift cards. They cancel the card before even being used and say that there was "fraudulent" activity and will fight you and give you any reason to not reissue you another card. They want to keep your money. I have been fighting for my $500 unused gift card for months and yet to receive it or resolve the issue.
Cards don't work
Cards don't work, website won't load and customer service is a joke. Have $700 stuck in these cards and I don't know to retrieve it. This is a scam company with bogus cards. Kroger should be sued to have them in their portfolio.
Same experience
Same experience. $100 card and it was used up before I even opened it. I called the number and got a woman who had children yelling in background. She was yelling at them while talking to me. Seriously.
$100 scam
I purchased a $100 card for my spouse on 9/25/23. Immediately when we opened the card, we noticed that the 3-digit security code had been scratched from the back of the card. This makes it impossible to register it on their site and use the card for on-line purchases. After several frustrating phone calls, their only solution was that I could use it for point of sale purchases. The card has been sitting at home since then, and we finally attempted to make a point of sale purchase today. It didn't work. When I called customer service, they said that the balance was only $1. Someone had fraudulently drained almost the entire balance even though the card was never out of our possession.
The customer service agent was fast talking and it was hard to even copy down the address/fax number where I'm supposed send written documentation. I'm not quite sure how this scam is working - maybe someone on the inside who is able to get the card info, scratch off the security code, and reseal the package ... and then wait for some sucker to activate it??
Rating this company with one star is…
Rating this company with one star is wholly inaccurate. It is ZERO. This has to be a scam. I received a $50 gift card as a present. The card has been in my continuous possession from the time I received it. The card was sealed, unopened, and in otherwise pristine condition. When I decided to use the card for an online purchase, I followed the instructions on the card: I went to their website, I "registered" the card with the information requested. The initial "account" displayed my name and the correct card balance of $50. The purchase I intended to make would have left about $7 on the card. Satisfied that the card was ready to use, I attempted to make my purchase. (Time elapsed from "registration" to purchase attempt was about 3 minutes.) As I closed out my checkout, the card was declined. I returned to this company's sham website, "logged in" to my "account" only to find the account was not registered to someone named "Ashley" and the card balance was fifteen cents. Right, $0.15, whole cents. There was a series of five PayPal transactions, each for $9.97, completed in about a minute (from 12:25 to 12:26) made by a " *Chiadra Walt" in California from "terminal 1" and the same ID number. I called the so-called customer service number and was on hold, waiting for someone to answer for approximately one hour. When someone finally did answer, she was extremely rude, and spoke from a script from which she didn't deviate. I demanded to speak to a supervisor who was less rude but of no more help. I told her ("Renee") that I would not be sending any additional information to "prove" I was the rightful owner of the card. She did concede that she could see the account history and transaction trail -- including my registration of the card -- but claimed there was nothing she could do because I am not "Ashley." I delivered a few choice words and hung up. My advice: STEER CLEAR OF THIS SCAM. I believe the theft occurred INSIDE Prepaidgiftbalance.com. DO NOT USE THESE CARDS OR THIS COMPANY. Again, one star is one star too many.
It's a SCAM
I received $100 gift card from a friend. Called the number to check the balance before I went shopping. I was transferred to customer service. They asked for the numbers on the front, the numbers on the back, the security code, the gift card amount. Then says balance is zero. I never used it. I just opened the package. Then asked me for the name of who purchased. It's a GIFT! Why do you need a name? Bottom line, the card is a scam. First of all, the automated could have given me the balance. Why was I transferred? I'm just checking the balance. I knew right away... I got scammed.
