Poor Customer Service with NO Loyalty to Their Customers

Recently I have had several terrible experiences with Progressive.
1. After my claim to total my car after an accident I reached out to inform customer service I would not need my insurance on my old vehicle. The rep told me that she could hold my crown status of over 30 yrs for $51.00 per month and that it would not cover anything. I thought it ridiculous to pay $51.00 for no coverage so I had it canceled. I learned later after purchasing my new car that this was not true and as a result I lost all my benefits/discounts I had as 30 yr customer. When I explained why I cancelled they refused to reinstate my status. I am paying the price for the incompetence of their rep. I addressed this with 2 supervisors and sent messages to 5 different top executives via LinkedIn asking for their assistance. Supervisors refused to comply and I still have not heard from a single executive.
2. I reached out to them asking if they could match the rates for the exact same insurance with other companies. They couldn't even come close.
3. One of their underwriters who needed additional information was very rude.
Summary: Progressive has NO loyalty for their customers (even the ones that have been with them over 30 years) and will NOT fight to keep your business. It's as though they feel they don't need your business; it's awful. I will be taking my auto and home insurance to another insurance company. Progressive use to be a fabulous insurance company. Today I am quickly finding they have changed their ways and they are the worst auto insurance.

Why is progressive sending me a…

Why is progressive sending me a notification that they cancelled me and I owe them a balance? I spoke to a customer representative who explained my rate was raised for an accident I was not responsible for. I told the CR that if it won't be adjusted back I would cancel and it was still active at that time. He directed me to a claims agent and I contacted her . The CR person had me upload the documents from court showing I was not charged or fined because I had witnesses. The claims agent got the documents and said she could not have my rates adjusted (they were adjusted back when I spoke to them when it originally happened and bumped it back up at renewal time). So given I had no points, charges, fines and they would not restore my rate back I told them I would cancel and immediately switched to another insurance company but now in addition to overcharging me for an accident I was not found at fault they decided to keep my rate up as if I had an at fault accident.

GREAT EXPERIENCE

First off no one wanted to give me car insurance as an American who lives part time overseas and progressive did with a foreign license. No hassles. Elizabeth through chat on their website was professional and helpful when I had to cancel policy. Two thumbs up!

I have been a loyal customer for over 5…

I have been a loyal customer for over 5 years, and they have the audacity to give me a $1,100 price increase. Then, six days later, they changed me to a new policy that to compete with another company rates, to which I wanted to switch. Progressive stated that with this new policy I could only get the savings if I attached a tracker called, "snapshot" and take pictures of my odometer and enroll in this monitoring program. I have a great driving record with no accidents or tickets for more than 10 years. I wanted to cancel my policy then the games began. Then, I had to email my policy number and provide my declaration page for my new insurance, and wait for 48 hours so they could prolong the process and try not to pay me my refund of what I had paid for adding a new vehicle last week, which was $150, and the new policy they stated could save me money. Yesterday, they deducted $180 for the new policy. Meanwhile, they still owe me tax credits for overpayment. They are dishonest and overbearing at Progressive. I was unable to cancel my policy online and over the phone, and they make you call them and will not do it. Once I called, I was told rudely that I had to wait 60 days in the state of Florida before I could cancel, but not even two hours ago, I spoke to a supervisor who stated that I could cancel as long as I had insurance and could provide the declaration page. These people mislead and scheme to keep customers who do not want their services! I want out, and I was told to email them with my policy number and declaration page. This email address is nowhere on their site! I want to know why they are unable to cancel over the phone like Liberty Mutual can; they will do it in 4-5 minutes. They need some retraining in customer care!

Do not do business with Progressive

Do not do business with Progressive! On a recent claim, they refused to pay for legitimate repair work with outrageous claims of pre-existing damage. When that was proven false, they concocted a scenario of two damages to the same area—anything to squirm out of paying your claim. Go elsewhere. Repair shops are reporting an increase in the ways Progressive tries to low-ball or avoid paying claims.

My experience with you has been one of the worst I have ever had. I was paying $350 per month, and after 2 months you took $1100 from my bank account, which for me is theft. The reason was that my son lives with me, and I told you that my son does not drive the car, but you still added him to the insurance. Your company is the worst company I have ever dealt with

Fights to keep your money, no matter what.

We've had Progressive for auto insurance for about 10 months now. We paid up March on 3/5, and found better coverage on 3/6. Called to cancel, and they are trying to say our payment was for the coverage in February even though they have charged me on the front end of every month since we signed up. Not only that, but they said we owe them another ~$12 for coverage through the end of the 6th! I will be contacting the bank directly at this point and hoping for the best.

I paid for roadside assistance on my policy. February 4th when my car broke down with a temperature of 17 degrees. I was first told a tow truck was on its way. Then after an hour and twenty-minute wait I was told there would be NO tow truck coming and could I find one of my own and or leave my car there and find a ride home? This wasn't the roadside assistance I paid for but roadside RESISTANCE. I still have not been reimbursed for the 204.00 towing expense out of my own pocket. I have submitted the requests four times and have been given the run around by the roadside assistance program just trying to get reimbursed. Drop the roadside assistance off your plan now before you are ripped off too. Or change insurance companies. I'm pretty sure I will be.

C'Anna Bradshaw was Awesome

My son's truck was hit by a driver who lost control on black ice. My son has a learning disability and has some cognitive issues. C'Anna was extremely professional, helpful, and very patient. I assisted my son with this case since he was having a hard time following the process. C'Anna had no problems working with me and thanked me for helping. I have had several conversations with her and she was so friendly that they were all extremely pleasant experiences; it was more like talking to a friend. I wish more, if not all, agents were like her. Exemplary customer service!

Choose ANY other insurance company!!

Choose ANY other insurance company!!

Tried to cancel the outrageously priced policy (our insurance doubled with 0 explanation) and apparently they were unsuccessful in canceling the policy the week prior but failed to inform me until I noticed the charge in my bank account. I attempted to cancel online with them again and they were still experiencing these same "issues" and I was still unable to cancel.
This is unethical and unprofessional.

Progressive is not to be trusted

I have been a progressive customer for more than 15 years without any issues. Last week I noticed that my auto insurance payment suddenly went from $211/mo to $460/mo, so I called. They explained that fraud prevention was involved and I had to call a different office during the week (an inconvenience since I work during the banker's hours they keep). I discovered that fraud prevention had simply added a driver to my account! It didn't occur to them that all of the people on my policy have the same last name and this random person they chose for me did not. I don't think the words SMART or EFFECTIVE come into play here. I asked that they remove their error from my account and had to sign a docusign document to fix their mistake. Was my monthly payment returned to the previous amount? No, they raised it $30/mo. And the only reason I see for the increase is that their fraud prevention department made a mistake on my account and I made them fix it. I immediately shut off all of my progressive automatic payments since I feel they cannot be trusted. I have auto, motorcycle, and homeowners through them and am now in the process of getting a better insurance company...one that isn't actively trying to steal my money under the guise of fraud prevention.

My name is Dilma Cardenas and policy #…

My name is Dilma Cardenas and policy # 99169738. I am a customer of your insurance. I am a single mother, and I have cars with full coverage. I have always tried to make my payments on time even though my work hours have been cut down. My daughter who was not under the policy had an accident with one of the cars. She slid and went into snowbank. There was damage done to the car. I put in a claim in. I understand that my daughter is not covered but I was told my car cannot be repaired. I paid full coverage since August 2025, and my repairs cannot be done because apparently the car is not owned by me. If I cannot get my car repaired which I paid Full coverage I want my money back. Plus, I had to rent a car for two weeks which I had to pay for. Now they denied my claim and my car is not getting repaired. I have a car in my driveway that is not drivable and cannot be fixed even though I have been paying full coverage. Still getting a bill that I have to pay my next payment. How is that fair I your customer pay all this money and not being able to use the service? Then you tell me my claim is denied, want my payment for full coverage, told I can't get my money back and now you send me a letter you are cancelling mg my insurance. Your prices are high as well, but I still paid the bill. I will shop for another company but I wany my money back as soon as possible.

Thank you

Extremely disappointing

Extremely disappointing. With an impeccable driving record and no accidents, I expected quality customer service. However, instead of offering solutions, they ignored my concerns. I feel completely dissatisfied and disappointed. I would not recommend this company to anyone who values their time and money.

Very disappointed with Progressive

Very disappointed with Progressive. My policy was approved and then canceled just 10 days later. They blamed my bank, which was not true. I do not recommend them.
