ADT was easy to work with
ADT was easy to work with, from the scheduling of the in-house survey, to learning about the different products, to discussing options and costs.

Great professional service
Great professional service, not pushy, no scare tactics, worked with me so that I was happy with my purchase.
I was disappointed with the whole bait…
I was disappointed with the whole bait and switch routine. I was clear that I was on a limited budget and wanted the least expensive coverage. The first thing I got was "This will be $5000+ out of pocket" I was told that they would be here from 8-9, and I had an appointment at 10. So bad start. I was 1 hour late, and then got set up to have them come back. When they came back, I had to take the more expensive amount, and pay $102 up front, and have a person come back with the extra part needed for the less expensive option. He told me that none of the installers had that part, so we are all forced into paying for the upgrade even if temporarily. Not a good start. The $100+ was above my budget range, and I end up paying interest on that amount.
i was giving a misleading information
i was giving a misleading information. It was very challenging to cancel. I was required to send in a form. I called to make sure the form was received. Yesterday I received a bill in the mail. Call customer care. i was transferred three times. Eventually got someone who told me someone will give me a call today to remove the system.
I did let her know the process is very frustrating and it is a waste of my time and energy.
Billing Disaster
The installer was great. However, their billing practice is a disaster. My service contract was written and verbally quoted as $27.99 monthly. Upon installation, they immediately processed the first charge from my bank account incorrectly for $52.99 plus the prorated amount at the same rate. The overcharge was $49.13. Although, I’ve called numerous times I’m told it will take a few billing cycles to straighten this out (their estimate is July). Unacceptable! It took less than one day to charge my my account the wrong amount - it should have been corrected immediately. Instead they offered Visa gift cards. Another inconvenience. They send you an email certificate to print and complete with your information. This has to be mailed with a $4.95 bank check in order to process the card. I have cancelled my automatic payment and will not set it back up until the monthly fee has been corrected. Unfortunate that ADT gets so many bad reviews because of their billing practice.
Complete scam with rude and unprofessional customer service
This company ("Protect Your Home" aka "Defenders") scammed me into a 3 year contract after I signed and sent in my right to cancel within my 3 day cancellation period (upon which I have proof of all of these transactions). I wanted the equipment out of my house and told the representative who showed up to my house to take the equipment that I was going with another security company. The representative conned me into believing that he cared about my situation and said he "did not want to take the equipment and leave my home unprotected" in the 2 weeks it was going to take the other security company to install their equipment. Also discussed was my desire to still cancel my services and that I was well in my right to cancel and that I did not want to continue services with this company (even though the representative wanted to leave the equipment until the other company came for install). The representative then wrote down his cell number (again I have proof) and told me to call once I needed to have the equipment removed. At this point, the representative left my home without taking the equipment only to return 20 minutes later on the phone with someone asking me to confirm service activation (quote "keeping it for right now") which led me to believe this was temporary. Thus, I had to confirm to keep the equipment functional until they removed it. It was never explained to me or discussed what I was agreeing too. At no point during the transaction with the representative on this day (or any day for that matter) did I ever say I wanted to keep the service or that I wanted to give up my cancellation right (I have recordings of all of this on their own doorbell system of where I asked him as he left if I was still under my 3 day right of cancellation upon which the representative confirmed that I was).
I was conned into agreeing to keep services while I waited for another company to install their equipment under the false statements that I was still able to cancel without contract activation or penalty of cancellation. Three days later when I tried to reschedule the removal of their equipment I called this representative who took my call (at the time) upon which he instructed me to call their corporate number for cancellation. Once I called I was told by customer service that I agreed to continue my services, which voids my cancellation agreement (again at no time was this ever explained, discussed or shown in writing to me where this was said), the very rude and unprofessional customer service representative only said we have a phone recording of me saying that I wanted to keep their services. At this point, knowing that the representative from that day (of equipment removal) could clear all of this up, I tried calling him back (upon which I'm sure my number has been since blocked) as I've never been able to reach the representative after multiple calls and voicemails to return my calls.
Their customer service has been the worst experience I've ever dealt with being completely unprofessional, one representative laughed at me over the phone when I was trying to explain the situation. Overall, the entire customer service experience (speaking to agents and managers) was the worst, as every one of them have been overly accusatory and aggressive. The agents and managers would cut me off mid-sentence repeatedly without listening to anything I had to say. When explained that I had a video recording (on their own doorbell system) of their representative performing this con, they provided me an email (likely to be a dead email) upon which I have sent multiple emails with no feedback as to what they are doing in the process and overall gave me no faith in that the process was an honest one. It is a shame that the person who was robbed in this experience was the very person this company claims to try to protect. I will be reporting this company to the Better Business Bureau as well as speaking with a lawyer about further actions.
Not to my satisfaction yet
First off, Tech is good service wise, it’s the product I grieve. Camera will not record properly. On top of this, my agreed upon 72 hrs are passed. Tech is attempting to remedy but time is of the essence. My rating (for now) is Incomplete.
ADT uses a bait and switch sales pitch…
ADT uses a bait and switch sales pitch where you are promised one thing from sales at $27.99 but when installed the actual price is changed to $52.99 /mo. As well as install cost being 80% more than indicated by sales person.
Be careful - they are a bit deceptive
Installation and technician were great !! I am disappointed by the amount of attempted up-selling and the deceptive nature of their advertising flyers. Unless you read it carefully you will assume that you are getting coverage for 15 windows and doors in the package. Not so !! You get a couple because like me you may have missed how they stressed pre-wired sensors. They give you like 2 wireless contacts and then charge $139 each for the other 13 that are not in the package. If you want the phone ap, well that's another $20 a month. Then I just found their $100 gift card form - guess what - they outsourced this and you have to send a $5 money order to them to get the $100 that ADT promised. Really nice, huh?
Their business is based upon trust - they have certainly not earned that. We'll see what happens in 2 years after the contract expires.

You otta be ashamed of yourselves.
The first thing the tech/salesman should do is come in your house and go over what you purchased, give a house evaluation and then when you two agree on the terms and conditions then the tech can install the equipment. The tech that showed up at my house just came in and installed he keypad by the door and then tried to sell more equipment for over $2200. That is a b.s. bait and switch scam. The salesman on the phone said I would get the house protected for only $40 per month and $99 install. That wasn’t the case with my contract. I’m now $53 per month and $2200 in equipment and after trying to kick the tech out of my house he makes some phone calls and brings it down to $700 install and $53 per month. I still feel that I should only have to pay the $99 install and $40 per month. I shouldn’t have went through all the dickering and stress when it comes to a big name brand company. This is something I expected from a fly by night crappy company. You otta be ashamed of yourselves for this. Once it was installed the equipment is very easy to use and we are glad to have it, but the upfront stress and old time bartering felt like we were shopping at a used car salesmen dealership. That’s just wrong.
