The company I worked for started a 401k for me. I didn't work long for the company, but the money taken from my paycheck was deposited into Fidelity and then at some point transferred to Prudential. Prudential charges $50 for any transaction fee. I have $53 in my account, so if I make a withdrawal they take $50 as a fee and send me a $3 check.

I wish I could give them zero stars

I wish I could give them zero stars. The worst company ever for short term disability. They keep messing up my paperwork. Staff is very incompetent including claims manager. Will never pick this company for any kind of financial needs. Claims manager never calls you back. I wonder if they even exist. They come up excuses because they made a payment in different amount for the same claim and each time i called i got 5 different excuses. This company should be shut down. They make up stuff and cheat people who are unable to work due to disability.

After being on hold for 15 minutes a customer service representative came on the line. She spoke broken English. I inquired about a request I had made - she said it was pending and that was another department that doesn't speak with customers. Just Terrible

This is the worst experience I have…

This is the worst experience I have ever had. In 6 weeks, I talked with 7 different people and got 7 different answers as to how to get a life claim paid out. One person would say all is great and we are expediting the money. 5 days would pass and then I would hear we need "proof" of burial and when I send that, I would hear, now we will expedite the funds. And on and on. Today, I hear, we need proof of payment of the funeral and burial, mind you they already have death certificate, internment documentation and other documents.
This is the last hoop I will jump through before I send ashes with my attorney. I'm disgusted with the lack of professionalism, long wait and lack of understandable english speaking reps.

A Complete Nightmare!

Absolute worst customer service I have ever experienced. Completely unorganized. They will transfer your calls all over until you eventually reach a dead end and are disconnected. Does anyone actually do work here????

I have been trying to transfer my late father’s funds for 9 months and am facing an IRS deadline. This company is shameful!

Buyer be ware

My deceased father in law was an Prudential agent for years. We have been trying for four months to get his benefits changed. They are giving nothing but a run around. They want to send a letter, by mail only, that you use to call in and make changes. “It’s the most secure way” is the answer to why it’s done that way. They supposedly sent the letter to his address from 15 years ago. I would be very skeptical of doing business with a company that treats deceased past employees this way.

Run, Don't Walk Away From Prudential

Run, don't walk away from this company! If I could give them negative stars I would. For 2 1/2 months, 3 FedEx packages and 15 hours on 7 calls, still haven't made good on my 95 1/2 year old father's cash surrender whole life family policy. What does that mean? We can't pay his nursing home bill. It does matter! After one 2 1/2 hour call and a promise from a supervisor that she would expedite the payment, make sure it was Fed Ex'd to us and would call me to follow up, 2 weeks later none of those things happened. Today another 1 1/2 hours on the phone while a supervisor in the Philippines struggled to check an Excel spreadsheet of payments and FedExes, the only tool the head office gives him to "help" the customers. After this, all he could do was apologize because our check wasn't on the spreadsheet.

You will never speak with anybody in their head office. The only number they give is for the poor professionals they hire in the Philippines to use as scapegoats for the company, without any real tools to answer questions.

I have been trying to rectify a problem…

I have been trying to rectify a problem for over a month and it still has not been fixed.

Several weeks ago I created an online account so I could manage my investments. A day later I was able to log on with no issues. The same day I logged in, my cell phone was damaged and I had to get a new phone with a new number.

The following day I tried to log in so I could change my email and phone number. However, I received a message telling me a verification code had been sent to my old phone number. A number I no longer have access too. My old email was attached to my phone and I no longer can long into it.

I called for help in resolving this problem and went round and round for over 30 minutes with the automated menu.

I was on the phone over an hour and finally talked to a person. This person told me they could not help me and forwarded me where I sat on hold for another 30 minutes. I talked to that person and they told me the corrections were made. However, I still cannot log on. My account is still telling me it will send a code to my old phone number and old email address. Is this how you treat everyone?

I am to the point of moving my funds to another company.

So I rate this a one as zero doesn't exist.
I had to register a death as an executor of a will - every company and public body has been so helpful - except the PRU. I didn't even qualify to speak with the bereavement team - maybe they would have been more helpful. In fact I was told the next step would totally skip me - is this right as I'm managing someones estate?

This company is 20 years behind…

This company is 20 years behind the times. My policy has never been able to view online. However I can set up automatic payments but the benefit remains at 0 online. I have to call and wait in the automated system for customer service upwards of 1.5 hours. Last hold on Friday was 2 hours 38 min on hold. I have submitted paperwork to close my account 7 weeks ago. I received a letter stating my signature card on file does not match my form submittal, so I can fax or send a ID that marches my form submittal. I did both, it has been 22 days since that time and no update is available except I have to submit my documents for them to close the account. I have been a prudential customer since i was 2 months old (I am now 51) my policy is producing less that 1.7% return after fees. I can not see how this company is still in existence. Customer service is horrible, rate of return is horrible and it takes months to access money that you have paid for 50 years.

Charge $50 Processing Fee to withdraw

Absolutely apalled! Did cash withdrawal. They explained all the taxes coming out. Then at the last minute, the girl states, "there is also a $50 processing fee." I was like a processing fee on my own money. I have never paid a processing fee on a 401 K withdrawal. Not ever! So to all the higher ups receiving this fee, I hope you are happy using the lower classes hard earned dollar to make you richer. Unbelievable!!!!!

Omaha Office on Dodge

I worked with Omaha office on Dodge and agent Brenden Fitzpatrick. I had a fixed annuity with another company that that had matured and used Prudential as a broker to roll it over into new fixed annuity with another company. It took three full months due to Prudential's incompetence. I will never use company again. Screwed up paperwork and poor communication with me during process.

They deserve negative stars honestly

They deserve negative stars honestly. Has to be the worst customer service in the history of customer service. I asked for a payout and they sent my money to a random T Rowe Price account that isn’t mine. I’ve spent months trying to get this resolved and still not finished. I can’t imagine any successful business being this utterly incompetent as a whole. I would never in my life recommend Prudential to anyone

No interest in working with the customer- run from this company

My mother has had an annuity account with Prudential since 1991. Recently Prudential flagged her account to indicate that she could be mentally incompetent. Fair enough, if they are concerned take action. The problem, no notice was sent to her nor was any information communicated in writing. Family spoke with Prudential on the phone to determine why she could no longer make transactions. We were told that she needed a POA or a doctor's certificate to declare her competent or incompetent. We went to an attorney's office with her to open a Financial POA. This was faxed to Prudential. Today, 3/20/20 we were told by Prudential that she needed a doctor's certificate to validate the POA. We only got the POA at their advice. So why did they tell us we should get a POA? If the doctor declares her competent the POA isn't needed. In our mind she is fine to make her own transactions. Very frustrated and feeling a little "crazy" myself after this drama.

Will I ever get my check? Who knows.

Back around December I got a letter in the mail stating that I had an un-cashed check from Prudential which was issued in April, and to contact them if it needed re-issued. I called the contact number, and found out they had my old address. I updated it, and they said the check would take about 7-10 days to process, and around 3 for delivery. I waited, about two weeks or so, and no check. I called them again the next month. For some reason, they said the check was past the processing date, but had not been sent out, so they would have to RE-process it (another 7-10 days) and it would be delivered about 3 days after that. I got a letter in the mail expecting the check, but alas! It was the 1099 form for the check! So they expect me to pay the taxes on it, but can't get the actual check to me on time? Alright. So I wait, surly it would arrive soon, they clearly have my address. It's now February, and I still have no check. I DID however, receive a notice in the mail that I updated my PIN number! So I gave them another call. It may come as a surprise to you, but the check hasn't been sent out yet. So they offered me a "rush" delivery for the check....which according to them is another 7-10 business days. And that's just my experience with the check! I called another time because I had an issue with my online account; it wouldn't let me verify it. So I called customer service, explained my situation about 3 different times to different people (after being told I would only have to give my name and they've already been informed about the situation), only to be transferred to IT/web support after about an hour, just have them tell me they don't know the issue and to call back customer service. Absolutely horrible experience. I advise anyone to choose another company over Prudential. It's a nightmare.
