The IT part of this bank is a sad joke…

The IT part of this bank is a sad joke but no customer is laughing. First I find out I cannot generate a statement in the app or PC - I have to wait for many days for it to be issued. Then I find out they never heard of Garmin so , payments with an watch will never possible unless you own an Apple product. If you have a choice - go for a bank with proper IT products and support.

Wonderful staff Member.r

I needed to unlock my bank card and was finding great difficulty doing this. I eventually went to a PTSB branch in Grafton St. and they had no success either (blaming the internet). The following day I again tried in a different branch, Baggott St. There they too were finding it difficult and left me to my own device in a chair outside the offices after trying for about 10 mins. A different staff member happened to pass me by and seen I was having problems. She brought me into her office and spent almost an hour trying to sort it out...eventually she succeeded. I will forever be very gratefull to her for her patience and willingness to spend the time with me. I am 76 and losing the "touch" with banking.
Her name is BEATRICE..all the way from Brazil.
God Bless you Beatrice and thank you once again.

appalling Service

Permanent TSB keeps advertising their “upgraded services” and “new app features” — but for the past few days I can’t even make a simple bank transfer! Every time I try to enter an amount, I get an error message saying “amount must be a number.” I’ve tried on the app and on my computer, and nothing works. This is appalling — basic banking shouldn’t be this frustrating!

Avoid the banking app at all costs

Worst Bank App avoid it at all cost.
Was told to download a new version of the app. Did so and work. Month later told to download another new version and again a couple of months later told to download another new version. Put my 24 hour bank details and password and security number and it told me I was locked out because it was an old version of the app. Totally incompetent bank.

Irish Banking at its worst

Banking at its worst. Went here after Ulster Bank shut down. Staff are rude, technology is behind. Branding is awful – boring grey. Time to move on again.

Appalling Customer Service

I have a credit card with the PTSB and rang them on 11/8/25, to ask for a limit increase. I rang them on 25/8/25, as I hadn’t received a response. The employee apologised and advised that my application had ‘slipped through the cracks’. She said I could put in a complaint and I would receive an answer in 48 hours. Again, I didn’t get a response, so I rang back on 28/8/25. This time a different employee stated I would get an answer by 1/9/25. It is now 2/10/25 and I still haven’t had a response. I applied for a credit card with another Bank and was approved within 30 minutes. I am in the process of leaving PTSB. I will not remain with a bank who does not value their customers and provides an inferior service.

If I could I would give PTSB Bank a…

If I could I would give PTSB Bank a ZERO. It’s the worst bank I have ever had. I needed to contest a direct debit charge so I went to branch and they said that I would need to call direct through one. It took me nearly one hour answering their security questions for them to say that my information didn’t match to my account. I couldn’t believe that I was liste to this. All the information I gave are genuine. What else they wanted me to say? They are playing with the customers. They left me without solve my problem. I will def move out my account. I’m so stressed and frustrated.

Absolute disgrace

Absolute disgrace, deliberate changes to app to try get people to miss credit card payments. Originally, you were given your balance immediately, then they "upgraded" the app and the balance was no longer visible when you went to pay your bill. Now it's even more hidden and for 1st time ever, I almost missed payment deadline. No doubt in my mind what the motivation was for these changes, banker greed. Well, I've still now look at changing to Revolut for ALL my banking, from receiving salary to DD etc. Complete cowboys

PTSB Liffey Valley take a bow

I've been to the PTSB in Liffey Valley a number of times in the last couple of years with my Elderly mother to help her make changes to accounts etc, the Team in Liffey Valley could not have been more helpful and understanding of her needs, a credit to the PTSB Group, thank you for showing the human caring side of banking which is all too rare in the current times

Improve user experience please!!!

I have an investment account with this bank, and unfortunately, my recent experience has been quite frustrating. It took me four phone calls and around two hours of my time just to request proof of my investment. Unlike my current accounts, which I can easily print statements for online, there is no way to print proof of my investment online.
The bank insists that unless I have the original paperwork from when I opened the account 11 months ago, they cannot provide any official documentation by email or post. This lack of accessible documentation is very inconvenient and not what I expect from a modern financial institution.
To add to my frustration, after all this hassle, the bank’s representative asked if I would like to apply for a mortgage with them instead of my current bank (Bank of Ireland). It felt quite inappropriate given the poor service I had just experienced.
I hope the bank improves their customer service and makes it easier for customers to access important documents without unnecessary delays or obstacles.

Joining Revolut after this

Joining Revolut after this. The absolute worse service ever! Every time I have called the message says "we are experiencing higher than normal calls" This means they are always screwing up and can't be bothered to hire more people.
I would tell the whole story, but I have lost the will to live after speaking to 2 "agents"
I have hung up after 1 hour and 3 minutes.
The 3 weeks I spent being tortured in a Turkish prison went by quicker.

The PTSB app is not fit for purpose

The Permanent TSB app is not fit for purpose. What is the point of an app where to order recent statements you have to log on to the website using a laptop.
I tried to order statements today, went to the chat support and was kicked out of the chats 4 times! Each time it said I was on the server for 5 minutes so it logged me out.
If you uninstall/reinstall it, you have to call a number to get a code, log onto the site using a laptop reset your login details to get access. It is not a good customer experience at all. I am very tech savy so I can only imagine the difficulties people that arnt are having with it. I have family members that are having similar issues.
It is very inconvenient and unreliable and I will warn anyone and everyone not to join PTSB for this reason.

PTSB (Permanent TSB) – A Disappointing Banking Experience

I’ve been a customer with PTSB since 2019, and I can now say—without hesitation—that I deeply regret opening an account with them.

To start, the monthly maintenance fees are unreasonably high, especially considering the poor quality of service provided. One would expect a certain level of reliability in exchange for these charges, but that is far from the reality.

I’ve had multiple issues with my debit card being cloned, and each time the bank's fraud handling process has been slow and ineffective. Moreover, my account frequently gets blocked for online purchases, even when I confirm the transaction by replying "Y" as instructed. The transaction still fails, leaving me frustrated and unable to rely on my own money when I need it most. This makes everyday use of the account a constant source of stress and inconvenience.

Adding to the frustration, any attempt to apply for a credit card or even a small personal loan is met either with outright rejection or technical errors where the page simply won’t load. This isn’t just an isolated case—many others online report similar issues with credit assessments being opaque, inconsistent, or completely non-functional.

The overall impression is that of an amateur operation masquerading as a modern bank. Customer support is slow and often unhelpful, and the app and website are riddled with bugs that don’t get resolved for months, sometimes years.

I’ve stayed this long only because moving banks is a hassle—but I would strongly discourage anyone from opening an account with PTSB. There are far better and more reliable banks in Ireland that actually invest in infrastructure and customer experience.

Zero customer service skills

I thought to open a joint account with PTSB. Worst mistake of my life. Opened the account on May 7th. Everything was verified, we received our ibans and open 24 numbers, created our profiles, I accepted a policy offered along with the fuel card and told that our bank cards is ordered. Waited 2.5 weeks and no cards and no correspondence. Waited another few days still nothing. So I called just to be told by HO Dublin that the account hasn't been verified. No cards ordered etc. Then told to wait and then asked for payslip and nothing for the rest of the day. By lunch I asked if everything is sorted to be told no they need 6 months bank statements and by this time I have had enough and I told them to shove it. I don't recommend PTSB. THEY ARE THE TOTALLY INCAPABLE

SUBSTANDARD Customer…

If you prefer SUBSTANDARD Customer Service PTSB is the Bank for you.

Beth - in the Customer Service Dept believes there’s no complaints in PTSB.

Aoife is a Supervisor in the Customer Service Dept. She explains that you are unable to set up a payment to another Bank due to Brexit. My account was opened 7+ years after Brexit. The reason then is SEPA. But when asked when the directive came in she didn’t have a clue. Nor did she have a clue of her own terms of business/ terms and conditions even going so far as to advising she “wasn’t required to know”.

Staff in PTSB say ANYTHING to get you off the phone so they can go back to swinging in their chairs and learning nothing new.

THE WORST BANK IN REP OF IRELAND.
