Rad company and the RAD 4 Electric Bicycle

Vancouver BC. Sold me a Rad 4 with accessories a year ago. Faulty tires went flat on the way home. I have waited a year for a tire replacement. Nothing, absolutely nothing. The help center is bogus with script and the email does not work. Every time I go in to see them I ger pushed off to a promised date. This ebike may be a good product but apparently, I will never know. I view it as a scam and there should be a Class Action Suit launched. Incredibly frustrated and mistreated consumer. Shame on them.

Awful service

I ordered a Rad Cargo bike at the beginning of March. The delivery of it was expected to be at the end of March. At first, it was delayed to the middle of April, then to end of May.

Meanwhile I had to move to another place. I had emailed them about my move and asked to change my delivery adress. I asked them change the delivery, but they said they couldn't.

Now im not at my original

Horrible customer service

We bought two rad rovers thinking we were paying a little more for future access to repair and maintenance peace of mind . We almost immediately had battery issues. We were sent a video to fix with a fuse replacement which I would have expected them to say just bring it down and we will have a look. Anyway on the fence at that one. Now ordered a few parts like brake pads and the bolt that holds the front wheel. They sent the 4 brake pads in separate envelopes which was strange and a waste of packaging etc. And missing bolt . Now 2 months later after several emails and strange explanations, they can't tell me if or when we will get part. Only that they will switch carriers? Just horrible customer service. Never would I recommend anyone to purchase a rad bike.

WARNING

WARNING. Do not purchase an e bike from this company. They have no phone, just a recording telling you to talk to an agent online on their web sight. That is a joke. Been trying to get through to someone to order parts for 2 weeks now.

Purchased a Rad Rover 6 in December 22

Purchased a Rad Rover 6 in December 22, then purchased the cargo trailer in March 23. Upon trying to install the trailer the end of the axle was damaged and could not properly secure the axle nut back to the axle all the way, which ended up lost. After waiting for a month for Rad to supply a replacement which was finally received, attempted to secure it and still would not fit. At this point was not sure if the nut was incorrect or the axle was to damaged.
After a month local bike shop determined they could not fix or repair either and Rad refused to provide replace parts as due to not having any which sounds like it’s not uncommon based on feedback we’ve seen on social media and local bike stores. We also come to find out from other experts that the bike is not really equipped to support the trailer although I verified with Rad prior to purchasing that the trailer was compatible with the bike.
Rad only stands behind their limited warranty even though the bike was only able to be utilized for 3 months at this point. After paying $1600 for a bike, $300 for the cargo trailer, and now another $300 for misc axle nuts that did not work, having the axle repaired and two axle nuts specially made (again since the replacement one Rad sent me was not correct) the tire is back together and NOW THE MOTOR IS BROKEN, again after only using for 3 months.
Bike gets power, connections where cleaned, control panel was cleaned, and still no power to the motor. I’m sure the Rad limited warranty does not cover the motor no longer working after three months of usage and less than 6 months from purchase. All local repair shops have told us Rad offers no support to diagnose and fix the motor so there is nothing they can do not to mention the comments on the poor experiences they have had with Rad equipment in the past.
Requesting a full refund from Rad for both the bike and trailer. Do not waste your money on their products.

Late to respond, Lack of intelligent input. Chat line never operational.

I, and my wife own 2 Radbikes, My Radwagon4 had a tire recall issue that took about 7 months to resolve. They told me not to ride the bike that entire time, which covered their butts, I suppose. I rode the bike in the interim because 1) I can ride a bike with a flat tire and 2) I can fix a flat tire. Still, the online experience of signing up for the recall was a nightmare and their customer service representatives were arrogant and condescending. Ultimately, they fixed the problem and gave me a phone case for my 7 month wait.
The second bike was a Radcity 3 Stepthru. My wife didn't ride it much, less than 200 miles in the first15 months for a variety of reasons. After we relocated, she wanted to start riding it again. When turned on, the bike would operate for 10 to 60 seconds and then gradually die out. after it was off for a few minutes, it would do the same thing, over and over again. The live chat for RadPower is never available, so I sent them an Email. After seven days of no response except for an automated email referring me to inapplicable help articles, I reached out to them again. I then received a reply, sort of apologizing, but not really, and then chastising me for not waiting my turn (because they were short staffed and really, really, really busy.) They agreed with my suspicion that it was the control box. I ordered a control box, but it was not the problem. Alas, the control box is not returnable, so I am out $128 and still have a bike that won't work. I have reached out to them again and.... crickets.

I bought the RadCity 5 step thru at the end of April. I had one of their trusted partners in Montreal assemble the bike for me. It came with several broken pieces and I have not been able to ride it for 3 weeks and cant get in touch with support.

Bring back the rad mission

I have a rad mission. It is a few years old and by far about the best bike I have ever owned. So my review isn’t about the bike. The one star goes to those who decided to discontinue selling the rad mission. I am not alone, I know others who love this bike. So I am withholding stars until you bring it back. Thank You Tom T

I received my bike recently

I received my bike recently, haven't had any issue with it. few days after receiving my bike, I ordered the Rad Rover Rear Rack and the ABUS Hyban Helmet 2.0.
But the nightmare started when they sent the wrong size of the helmet (I needed the L and they sent the M) and one nut of the Rack is missing.
I prompted about this to them, through the only way they offer: via web form (no phone assistance, no live chat, etc)
It's been two weeks already, and I haven't heard from them yet. I am a bit afraid to use my bike without wearing a helmet.

Beware when purchasing a radpower bike

Beware when purchasing a radpower bike, my bike has been unusable due to a recall since September 2022. I was thrilled to receive my RadWagon4 in December 2021, I purchased this bike with the intent of taking my kids back n forth to school. I thought the RadWagon with the caboose would be a safe option to ride with my kids on the back of the bike. In May of 2022 while riding with my son on the back of the bike we suffered a rear tire blow out, luckily this was flat ground and everyone was safe. I had the tire replaced at a bike shop after which they informed me that bike failed a rollback test and the motor would need to be replaced. After some back n forth with RadPower and filming myself performing a roll back test they mailed me a new motor. so I was back on my bike August 2022. The next month is when they sent out the Safety Notice and my bike has been under recall since. I have been patiently waiting for the replacement parts to come in so, since I did wait a couple months before filling out the recall form, so I can again start using the bike to take my kids back n forth to school. For the past few months, each month, they promise that by the of the month they will ship out the replacement parts. We have tried to contact RadPower on multiple occasions to get an update on this process, but they are unable or unwilling to provide us any information.

Stay away from Rad Power bikes

Stay away from Rad bikes. They work well for a couple of months only. Then you constantly need a certified mechanic to help you out.
In winter, they just do not work.
Poor performance in winter in Montreal.

Good Luck Getting Parts

Good luck getting parts from Horrible Customer Service. The controller burned out during the warranty period, I am now over six months waiting with no end in sight. $2000+ bike just sitting there completely unusable. Something to think about with an electric bike: can you get parts or even repair it? So much for all the hype...

Rad City Bike good as a paperweight

Rode it twice, then it died. Called for support, they said they would send out a replacement controller. Two months later I contacted them again, which they told me at that time, was on back order. Finally got the part. Took two of us several frustrating hours to replace the part. Error doesn’t exist anymore and appears to be working, but I haven’t tried to ride it yet. If the bike breaks again I’m going to take it out to the shooting range. Best $2,000 paperweight I ever bought.

Poor customer service

I called customer service because my 6 month old bike was starting to lack power going up slight inclines, shockingly he told me none of their bikes goes up hills very well. He asked me to send a video of what I thought might be wrong. After they viewed the video customer service insulated me by telling me my bike was obviously lacking maintenance and I should go get it serviced because it had rust on it.
Way to go customer service ,who does that to a first time e bike owner?

Horrible "customer service" Tech…

Horrible "customer service" Tech support is nothing more than a call center with nothing more than "script readers" lack of service parts, brutally slow shipping. Also shady business practices. Overselling new bikes at a fraction of what the original sold for just the previous year, then using bait and switch. Accessories sold at liquidation prices and not shipped. I had to wait two months for a replacement battery tray (warranty) over a month for replacement controller, wiring harness, headlight and LCD display. Before you buy check out the Rad Power bike owners Facebook page you will surely change your direction.

Buyer beware- parts may not be available

I bought (2) RAD bikes last April. The bikes are good quality and we love riding electric bikes. When I received the bikes I noticed one had a defective back fender so I called RAD customer service. I sent pictures and spoke to representatives many times. They agreed to replace it. I have been waiting 9 months as the fender is supposedly on back order but I don't think it will ever arrive. Shortly after I bought the bikes they discontinued the model. I would not have purchased bikes from RAD had I known that parts would not be available on a brand new one. A few months ago, after some prodding they sent me a replacement fender from a different model but it doesn't fit. Now they suggest I go to a local bike shop to see if they can jerry-rig something. Why should I have to jerry-rig my new bike at my own expense that came from the factory with a defective fender?
