Not what they seem

From the beginning the communication was appalling. I was surprised as I had someone at a kids sports match recommend them and tell me how great they were- they said they were so "professional". The website is well done with lots of lovely photos and great reviews. Our name was on the waiting list before Covid and I had to put a deposit down straight away without even seeing the puppy. I was really worried about doing this as many breeder's websites say check out puppies before putting down a deposit etc. but I went ahead. The money part ended up being fine but it did ring an alarm bell. The puppy came during Covid so I put down the lack of communication to these difficult times. I sent many emails and I only got a reply when I had to make a quick choice over the puppy 2 weeks before pick up. I couldn't see the puppy or parents prior to pick up as it was Covid so it wasn't easy for Raffles either. However, I was told I needed to choose quickly from 3 photos. I asked for more information and I finally received a 30 second video with all these puppies jumping around, around 10 of them jumping all over each other, so not easy to see/choose. The puppies were with an older dog and I presume it was their mum. I never saw the parents at pick up.
We arrived at the farm and it is all very lovely and clean and looks like a well-run machine. There were a few people picking up but we had to be quick as it was during Covid times. The puppy was TINY and I asked is it really 10 weeks old? they assured me she was but it was the cutest thing and my girls were in love. Everything looked in order except the lack of communication. However, I did ask the young guy who was handing over the puppy gear how many female dogs do you have and I think he said something like 50 or around that number and I remember being shocked and then he sort of changed the subject really quickly as if he shouldn't have said it. I was so focused on the puppy that I didn't really think much about it. So off we went with our new addition to the family.

Once we got in the car the poor puppy vomited about 6 times and had diarehhrea 3 times in 3 hours. She was a mess. We were told not to wash her for I think a week to 10 days but that was not an option as she was covered in vomit, poo and wee as I was. She continued to be sick and be very lethargic for days and not really a puppy full of energy. She didn't eat much and her stools had quite a bit of blood. I followed the directions on the portal which said all this was quite common and NOT to take your dog to the vet. Give it Panacur/chicken and rice etc. When I initially tried to give her the dry food Raffles sell/ make /label she used to vomit within the hour. To his day she can not eat their dry food- she always vomits. After 6 days I took her to the vet , her tummy was so distended even with the diarrhea and she had continued to vomit everyday. She had some bug and was constipated and her gut was a mess. I received some special food and probiotics from the vet which really helped but to this day we have to be so careful what we feed her. She often gets tummy upsets and can't eat for days and vomits up froth and a cough that is on and off from teh beginning. The vet has not got to the bottom of her issues. I have spent much time trying to get her healthy and for the most part she is good but then she has a tummy/vomitting episode.
I have never contacted raffles as the prior experience was so poor, i am sure they would have told me just to follow the website if they bothered to answer. I am sure there are alot of Raffles puppies who are in good health, the stronger ones but it seems from these reviews there are many in bad health also. I think when you have that many puppies you can't possibly know what is going on with all of them and who is eating what and who is vomitting.

Our puppy is also very scarred by men in boots and goes crazy when she sees them. she is in a safe, lovely environment with lots of love and nursing back to health and we just adore her but with her health issues I wouldn't go back to Raffles for my second pup. Something just doesn't add up.

All positive reviews are to be…

All positive reviews are to be avoided.. Raffles is a very Large Scale Posh Puppy Farm. I purchased my Cavapoochon in 2018 and my Pup at the Time. Had a few issues, starting With Aggression Towards Food/Objects, I contacted Raffles with Regards to this Issue to tell me the Pups leave the Premises with no issues, through Behaviour, trust me it never developed any Aggression through myself.. Raffles claim that Cavapoochon's will always remain puppy like throughout there lives, will be smaller than a Cockerpoo, but 1. My Cavapoochon has clearly matured and does not still look like a puppy, she has aged, and number 2, she is the same in height as a Cockerpoo. On questioning this to Raffles, there excuse is, her father was a biggish poodle.. now let's try and understand what happens to the parents of the pups.. true fact, they breed them til they can no longer be bred, they are known to change the names of the parents, so what name could be for your pups, will be the same female for someone else's pups but a new name.. so don't ever think they breed a female twice in its lifetime, once the female has been bred to almost death. What happens to them female?? No one knows, and Raffles shy away from the Questions or Lie about it.. They have dropped to a 1 star rating through the local council, which in itself. Rings alarm bells.. there is a group and the stories from everyday people, who have had some horrific experiences is an eye opener in itself.. look it up.. 'Raffles have your say.. within that group there are very honest and a high count of professional people who have had very bad experiences.. the vets that raffles use to give health checks are a Scam and lie about everything, even to the point the original vet who has vetted alot of puppies and has passed them as healthy, even thou they are not. Has left the vet practice, due to his actions being found to be falsified.. So do your research before you buy into a very sophisticated Puppy Farm, and line the pockets of already rich people via the cruelty of animal breeding. These are criminals at a high level.. and need stopping now..

I would never recommend Raffles after my experience

I love our pup to bits and he is beautiful but every party of the buying process after the initial putting our name on the waiting list set alarm bells ringing. Once the pups were born and photos were sent I was pressured into choosing my puppy immediately from photos on Facebook messenger as other families were waiting. Even though I had paid a deposit and was told I could see him first.
My pup was underweight with tummy troubles when we brought him home. He needed a good course of probiotics from the vets to get him right. My vet was clearly angry and upset at the state of him and I felt terribly guilty about buying him from Raffles. When we collected him there was probably twenty people collecting at the same time. Mark the owner did a slick presentation then we queued up to pay. I was desperate get out of there. They went on holiday immediately after this large scale hand over and were not contactable when I messaged them about problems with my pup’s health. When I eventually sent a message complaining I got a very aggressive phone call from Mark. Clearly a puppy farm and my advice is when alarm bells ring - listen. My pup is generally healthy now with a few tummy troubles but he is tiny for a cavapoo. Everyone thinks he is still a puppy. But we love him to bits. I feel like we rescued him instead of purchasing him. The experience was that bad.

Our Beautiful Puppy from Raffles

Our Beautiful Puppy,

We reserved our puppy from Raffles after being recommended by a friend who bought their cockerpoo from Raffles several years ago. We went to meet her before making the final confirmation that she was right for us. We enjoyed our visit and found the owners open friendly and knowledgable about the breeds. The farm itself is quite beautiful and although we couldn't go inside the nursery (because the young puppies are not vacinated yet) the pens were clearly visable through the window and also from above on a screen in the room where you meet and greet. We paid our deposit and started to get excited. Shortly before our collection date I happened upon trust pilot and Raffles 'have your say'. I was horrified. I didn't know what to do. So I set about investigating everything I could. I spoke at length to the local council who said that although Raffles have indeed had their licence downgraded to a 1 star, they assured me that it was due to paperwork and admin and that they had no concerns related to animal welfare. They also said that they were aware of that they were being targetted by an activist group but that as a 1 star organisation Raffles is now reviewed very regularly and their hygeniene is excellent. I didn't stop there, I contacted the vets that Raffles use, who also confirmed that they had no concerns (although I'm sure they wouldn't be allowed to give details). I didn't want to lose my deposit and was still desperately worried so my last call was to the owner. It was very clear that he sounded like a man who has been beaten by these attacks. He talked to us about all that they have gone through, I thought he sounded honest and transparent. He immediately offered to refund our deposit if we had changed our mind even though it was only a couple of days until collection. After talking to him, we decided to take the plunge. We collected our puppy and she is beautiful, we had her checked by the vets who are happy with her health. She has had a loose tummy but on multiple calls back to Raffles they have been very helpful and the service has been excellent. I have given a 4 star review just because it took a while to get some missing paperwork from them and I was starting to worry that it wouldn't come. However, that has now arrived and I'm now content to write my review.
Raffles is clearly a large scale breeder, puppies are born in the kitchen and once they are happy and out of the woods, they are transfered to nursery pens in a temperature controlled barn, dogs have run of a big field with a lake to play. Mum's only have 2 litters and are retired to a forever home. You need to think about if that's the right kind of breeder for you. They are not a hobby 'by the fire' type breeder but they seem to know their stuff and are very professional. Our puppy is confident, she didn't flinch at fireworks, happy to meet other dogs, good with kids and very quick to train.
Do your own research, but we are happy with our choices.

High end puppy farm

We bought our cockapoo from Raffies in Cheshire in November 2019. I thought I had researched thoroughly, and believed I was buying from a reputable breeder. Our dog on collection was beautiful. However both mum and dad were carried in by the owner, and we were not allowed to touch them or interact, the reasons being the dog was a ‘stud’ and the mum was ‘fed up’ of her puppies. On getting out puppy home, we discovered he had an infestation of biting lice in both ears, causing him much distress. We of course took him straight to our vet who stated that lice such as this were only usually found in puppies from mass breeding farms, and it was unusual to find in a alleged home bred animal.
We immediately contacted Raffles who denied that out puppy could have contracted the lice with themselves, and that we somehow were responsible for him becoming infected.
This then prompted me to do some further research into Raffles. I believe them to be a large scale puppy farm. They have a very convincing set up, web page and army of loyal supporters but it is my belief that they are breeding puppies with multiple health problems and anxiety issues. It is telling that the local authority has released downgraded their rating to zero.
I contacted the owners to raise my concerns, and despite several attempts, they have not replied.
Please do not buy from these unscrupulous breeders.

Posh puppy farm

We have a Raffles cavapoo who is now just over 18 months and we love her to bits and wouldn’t change her for the world but we would not go back to Raffles again for another pup. Looking back on our experience, we were very naive. The website really draws you in and the house where you collect the puppies from is very nice, but essentially, Raffles is a large puppy farm with a posh collection room and we did not realise how big they really are and how they raise their puppies.

Raffles is a very very large breeder. The puppies are not raised in the owners home but in large breeding barns on their land. There are hundreds of litters produced every year using mother’s from outside of their home. I am not sure if the puppies are always born on site or if they are brought in from other places and sold on. It is concerning that the mother’s are not shown on their website, probably because there are hundreds of them, since several litters are being born each month.

This is a huge business with thousands of puppies sold each year, many with terrible health conditions, separation anxiety and behaviour issues.

Our puppy has always had a deep hacking cough and when we asked advice and expressed concern to Raffles, they told us not to go the vets and that the cough would go after a few weeks. The cough is still there now and is a chronic condition that the vets are managing (likely kennel cough that went untreated early on).

I know of many other Raffles owners. Some have been lucky with healthy puppies however many have had far more serious health issues than we have experienced.

The dogs are beautiful and I do not blame people for falling for the website and wanting a Raffles pup but I wish we did more research at the time. We did not see our pup interact with her mother, the mother and father were carried in from their outside barn and briefly held up and shown to us. They looked tired and miserable and I felt really sorry for them. I wasn’t convinced the mother was even our puppies mother.

Next time we will go to a small family breeder where we can see the puppy interacting with its mother and is raised indoors by loving and caring owners that can give the puppies the best start in life they deserve. I will never knowingly support a puppy farm.

Could not recommend Raffles enough!!

Could not recommend Raffles enough. We picked up our cavapoo puppy a week ago and he is a dream. Yes, they are a bigger breeder but they clearly put the work in and breed beautiful, well-tempered puppies who are not only gorgeous but also already well-socialised and well taken care of! Our vet was very happy with his condition and that he had both his vaccines already. The breeder was super helpful, communicative and honest in answering all our questions (including the breeder rating situation). Always do your own research when it comes to breeders, visit them and talk to them (instead of just trusting reviews). Having visited them twice, and being in contact with them for a while, we were more than happy to get our puppy from them and it definitely paid off!

The positive reviews on here are sadly…

The positive reviews on here are sadly fake and bought as is common these days. Raffles is nothing but a vile puppy farm. Please do your research on Facebook. There are support groups you can read about ‘real’ owners experiences. My puppy had Giarda from the moment we collected her. Blood in her stools and vomiting. As with many other owners I was not able to see her with her ‘mum’ at any point. On the day of collection the ‘mum’ was carried in and whisked out very quickly. The names of the parents on the documents they give are made up and it is impossible to trace the true parents. They will not give information about the parents when asked.

I bought a gorgeous red Cavapoo puppy…

I bought a gorgeous red Cavapoo puppy from Raffles in June 2018. When she was handed to me she was scared stiff and anxious, not at all relaxed and well socialised like the website led me to believe I would get. I had her vet checked the day after I collected her. She had an ear infection and an umbilical hernia which means she would have been unable to have puppies, if that had been my intention. It wasnt my intention and I paid extra for this to be fixed when she was spayed at 12 months, it also meant it was a bigger operation for her to recover from. I had contacted Raffles when it was diagnosed to advise them in case other puppies were affected. They replied to say they were away and would respond when they got home. They never did. I also paid more to have a red and white puppy but her coat has faded so much she is almost apricot now so I could have saved myself some money! Looking back I was a very naive first time puppy buyer and this was perhaps taken advantage of. I was sucked in by the website promises and the posh premises when I collected her but knowing what I know now I would not buy a Raffles puppy again.

Large scale breeder

I picked up my pup nearly a year ago, after picking him from the available pup page. On collection, I realised the sheer scale of the operation, when there were three of us in the room collecting, all from different litters. The parents were carried in, after a walkie talkie was used to request them. There was no interaction, but this was put down to the fact the mum would have no interest in her pups at 11 weeks. I don’t know how true this is. We also saw no siblings. I have no idea how they keep track of your dog when there are so many of them. This was proven by the fact that a week later I had an email from raffles, saying that they had me booked in to collect that day. I informed them that we already had our dog. Who knows whose dog they would have given me if we turned up!
I had to chase the microchip paperwork after a week, which makes me nervous that I in fact collected the ‘wrong’ dog, and his chip is therefore not registered to me. This is something I need to check with the vets.
In terms of the puppy himself, he was generally ok health wise, other than very waxy ears that had to be cleaned. He has an incredibly nervous nature, always has. He is petrified of other dogs, which makes off lead walking very difficult. He also would bark at every noise, including simple sounds like the boiler coming on. So I also doubt the ‘socialisation’ they claim to use.
Even if your puppy was healthy, you cannot deny the experience so many other people have had, in the same way I can’t deny yours was great.
I love my dog to bits, but I hate that I contributed to Raffles. The amount of litters over the years is disgusting. Any company that deletes negative reviews and comments of their facebook page has something to hide.
We were lucky, in that we haven’t faced huge vet bills, or the devastating loss some owners have had to go through. I 100% would never recommend them.

Buddy had his normal ups and downs, bad belly and such like. But seems to be settling in amazingly. The question is would I recommend Raffles cockerpoo to anyone else? The answer is yes 100%... Remember keep in touch with them and you will have continued support with your puppy.

1 star licence after losing 4 star rating

Cheshire East Council dropped their licence from 4 stars to 1 star, a few months ago. Going from higher rated 4 stars to a measly 1 star is a mighty fall. What caused such a drop? Contact Cheshire East Council’s Animal Welfare department, should you wish to verify this. Would you eat in a 1 star restaurant or sleep in a 1 star hotel? Why buy a puppy from a 1 star breeder?

We got a Cavapoo from Raffles in Jan’20. We visited before committing to a litter, visited the puppy and collected the puppy up. The Raffles team were very helpful and informative throughout, including once we’d brought puppy home and had follow up questions. We met the mum and dad and saw many of the other puppies. We were very impressed with the professionalism, cleanliness and health of all the dogs. Our puppy Lucy is an absolute joy. She is good natured, loyal, energetic, and has never bitten / snapped / growled at anyone including our 6yr old (who can be quite rough with her at times) ... real testament to Raffles as breeders. Thank you so much for Lucy and for making our family even happier

Avoid at all cost..

Avoid at all cost..
After purchasing our pup in June 2020 it has been vet visit after vet visit.
Here is all what our pup has been diagnosed with
Giardia, isospora cysts, camblybacter, hernia (which we were not informed of), bloody diahrreoa, sickness and he collapsed at 14 weeks old and ended up on iv fluids and antibiotics.
He since has been diagnosed with cryptorchidism (undescended testicle).
Following failed exploratory surgery to locate the testicle a blood test was required to identify if he was still producing testosterone or whether he only ever had one testicle. The results were positive.
He is now under investigation for a failed to develop testicle, with scans and further exploratory surgery to locate the testicular tissue (not a testicle as it failed to develop.)
The testicular tissue has to be located and removed as he will otherwise be at higher risk of developing cancer.
If this procedure fails he's then off to a specialist for ct scan and dye injected to locate it.
I have since learnt I am not the only one with these kind of issues and think that it is disgraceful this breeder has been awarded a licence to breed.
We have since had emails ignored after assuring we would have full support.
It is disgusting these breeders are still operating and we have now filed our own reports along with many other people.
Please do your research and do not support this breeder.
They don't even deserve the one star I had to give.

Excellence from the start and ongoing. Would recommend without a doubt!

I was recommended to Raffles after our school therapy dog came from them. I wanted my own Cockapoo pup so I approached Raffles. From my initial approach to them, everything has been first class. The communication, our visit to them to see the pups and their mums, where the dogs live and how they are treated. They are all truly loved and cared for. I saw it with my own eyes. I know I have a pedigree dog not just from this but how my pup has been ever since she has come home. She is a delight. Her temperament and spirit show that she has been cared for and has come from parents that had the same care and quality start in life. The temperament of the parents, particularly her mother means so much to how the pups will be going forward and I saw videos of my pup with her mum and also saw her in person with her pups. I had and continue to have complete confidence in Raffles and what they are doing. I put my trust in them to let me purchase our new forever family member and they have trusted me with one of their much loved pups. Moving forward I know that Raffles will be there for me and my pup for anything and at any time. What more could I ask for? Well honestly nothing!
