Your booking is for Trenitalia regional train services. For this type of journey, the tickets are not displayed in your Rail Europe account in the same way as some other rail tickets. Instead, they are issued as PDF documents which may display the wording "NOT VALID FOR TRAVEL". This is expected and does not mean that the tickets are invalid.

These tickets are automatically validated at the scheduled departure time. However, to pass through station gates and for onboard inspection, you will need to present the QR codes associated with your tickets.

The QR codes can be retrieved at any time after purchase directly through the Trenitalia website by entering the email address used for the booking along with your PNR/Ticket code:

Still no train pass, zero customer service.

Still no train pass, zero customer service. It's been impossible to set up my account which I already paid for. I had no idea that everything had to be done on a smart phone.

This has been extremely frustrating and I still don't have a pass. Not to mention that there is no live person who can help. I do not recommend this company, there is zero customer service.

The product purchased was a Eurail Global Mobile Pass Flex. As the name suggests, this is a mobile-only pass and is designed to be activated and used through the Eurail Rail Planner app on a smartphone.

We would also like to clarify that Rail Europe and Eurail are separate entities. Rail Europe acts as a distributor, helping customers purchase rail tickets and passes, while Eurail is responsible for issuing the pass and managing the Rail Planner app used for pass activation, trip planning and reservation management.

We understand that the activation process can sometimes feel complex, which is why we provide a step-by-step activation guide in the booking confirmation email. In addition, a wide range of Eurail-related help articles are available through the Help section of our website, including guidance on pass activation, reservations, and using the Rail Planner app.

Regarding customer support, while we no longer offer phone support, we do provide assistance through email and live chat, allowing our teams across multiple time zones to offer consistent support and maintain a complete record of each interaction. We can confirm that we received your email on 9 June and that our Support Team responded within a few hours with instructions on how to activate your pass, along with links to the relevant help articles.

Misleading checkout and hidden refund process

Rail Europe misled me into buying tickets under the assumption that my class and seat assignments could be handled at a later step in the process. That never happened. Instead, it issued two tickets that were nowhere near what I actually wanted and was willing to buy. Upon receiving the tickets, I immediately tried to cancel, only to find that while the website mentions the possibility of refunds, it hides how to actually request one. I ultimately had to dispute the charge and cancel the tickets through my credit card company.

First, we would like to clarify that the class of service for your journey was clearly displayed throughout the booking process, including in the search results and again when the tickets were available for review in your basket prior to payment. Our records show that the tickets purchased were for Second Class travel, which was indicated before the booking was completed.

Regarding seat assignments, these are managed directly by the rail carrier's reservation system. For your journey, operated by OBB, the seat selection feature has not been made available to Rail Europe. As a result, we can only offer seating preferences rather than specific seat selection. During the booking process, we clearly indicate that seating preferences are not guaranteed, as final seat assignments are determined by the rail carrier based on availability at the time of booking.

We would also like to clarify that, after reviewing our records, we were unable to find any cancellation attempt or contact with our Support Team regarding this booking. Had we been contacted, our agents would have been happy to explain the available refund options and guide you through the process.

Transparency is a core principle of our business, and information regarding ticket conditions, refund eligibility and the steps required to request a refund is made available throughout the booking process and within our Help Centre. For eligible tickets, refunds can be requested directly through your Rail Europe account by following the instructions provided in our support articles.
