Be very careful about using Rainbow Restoration of Longmont

After a harrowing day of flooding in the basement, we were able to get an inspection the same day by Rainbow International of Longmont. The owner, Rob, performed the inspection. We talked through what would be needed to avoid getting mold in the basement. We asked about cost, specifically saying what our threshold was, and whether he anticipated the work being more than that. He said he wasn't good at on the spot estimates, and that he didn't think it would be more, that it could be less, but that he would get us an estimate in the morning. Unfortunately, we didn't do our due diligence and investigate the company before deciding to give them a $500 deposit and ok them to start the work. It turns out that we were taken advantage of in a time of need. The work started the following day, and the crews were all very quick and thorough. After a few days of not having received the invoice, we started to email Rob and ask for the missing estimate. He replied, saying that he would provide it the next day. That never happened. After asking more forcefully again via email directly to Rob, and also letting crew members know that we were still waiting on the estimate and them letting Rob know as well, the crew who showed up at the end of service to collect all the fans and dehumidifier, then presented me with an estimate that was just shy of double our threshold. We refused to sign anything and wrote to Rob again to express shock and upset, asking whether this was the true invoice. We didn't hear back for a few more days. Then we were sent a final bill that was about 30% less than the one I had been shown, but still about 30% over our threshold. We don't begrudge the crew, who were all good and professional. But the owner, Rob, seemed to be deliberately avoidant about explaining the costs all along, even after having been repeatedly asked for the estimate. Despite the work, this has unfortunately been a very negative customer experience. It's hard not to feel preyed upon in a time of need! Be very, very careful using Rainbow International of Longmont.
