I contacted RA Plumbers and was incredibly impressed with their same-day service. They quickly fixed a leaking shower and even replaced the damaged tiles. Nothing was too much trouble — they were efficient, helpful, and professional throughout. I highly recommend RA Plumbers for their excellent service and workmanship.

Totally incompetent & utterly incapable…

Totally incompetent & utterly incapable - our 'guest plumber' was Colin. His job was to remove an old boiler & install a new electric central heating system:

1. Colin connected our mains supply to central heating header tank and opened the valve, flooding our bathroom & shorting out the house electrics. Then he left it connected but didn't tell us - more on this later (see 7).
2. Colin disconnected a valve to radiator in front the front room, then failed to reconnect it properly, resulting in a leak that caused our brand new berber carpet to rot ...
3. Colin removed the (very heavy) old boiler but failed to bring a plumbers mate to help him move it outside ... instead he got me to help him, then dropped it on my leg, resulting in an injury that eventually required hospital intervention.
4. The removal of the old boiler left a gaping hole in the kitchen wall where the old flue had been - Colin promised to return and fill the hole (see 8).
5. Colin installed the new central heating's electric water heater on the wall, leaving shoddily done wiring & a lot of exposed copper. The power cable he routed over our roof was totally unsuitable (as in not fit for external use) for the task, and his wiring of it into our mains power supply was a not only badly done and crudely ill-fitting, it was potentially lethal with yet more exposed copper wiring.
6. Having installed the water heater Colin then left, never to return, and taking my £2200 with him. Please note, despite installing the heater he also failed to install the thermostat, the timer, the controls, a suitable pump etc, so the result was our 'new electric central heating system' didn't, couldn't and - as it stood - would never work. A proper professional had to be called in to correct the issues, and he dismissed all of Colin's so-called work as 'an abomination', and a potentially lethal one at that - it cost us a further £1750 to have the work put right.
7. Prior to calling in the professional we tried to understand why the new central heating didn't work - we found Colin had left all the pipe valves into/out of the heater closed - so we opened them to see if that would sort it out. Remember he left the mains connected to the header tank but didn't tell us? Our bathroom was flooded again - had Colin warned us it wouldn't have happened.
8. It cost us yet more money to have the gaping hole left in the wall by Colin filled in, as he failed to return as promised. He did, however; leave a bag of concrete in our garage which he said he would use to do the job when he returned (which he didn't).
9. The carpet will probably have to be replaced - it was brand new & cost over £1250.
10. Once he'd put the non-working heater on the wall Colin did a runner & taking our money - leaving us with no working central heating - and then stopped answering all phone calls & our attempts to contact him.

Even if Rapid Plumbers were the very last plumbers on Earth ... based on my experience, I would NOT use them. If they are your only choice, do it yourself, you can't do any worse than what Colin did to us.
