Do not sign up!
Do not sign up! Even if you sign up only to read someone eases notes the app gets added to your own meetings automatically. It's very difficult to remove from an organisation once it gets in. This shouldn't be possible Microsoft needs to look at this, as others have said its basically malware.
It keeps joining all of my calls even after deleting my account.
I did a test trial and deleted my account. read.ai still joins all of my calls and I dont know how to get rid of it. Contacted support and tried everything.
My recommendation is not even try the trial.
@support help me to get it out of my account and I will delete this review. Unfortunately my last contact has not been taken serious.

Experienced Read User
I have been using Read for almost a year now. I have read many of the negative reviews. Regarding security, I have inquired about security from the company and got their SOC 2 Type 2 audit results, as well as a lengthy explanation of the security and privacy of my data. They are a fast growing startup, so everything is not perfect, but as a note taking tool and now and AI copilot, I would have trouble living without it.
this is borderline malware
Way too intrusive
Way too intrusive. This goddamn assistant automatically joined a sensitive all hands call without me noticing and all my colleagues who saw it we're not able to kick it out.
A truly disgraceful solution.
$180 on 11.15.24 One year service. not working
Paid for one year $180 November 15. December 12 still getting message that my trial is up. Says I need permission to access report. I grant myself access. Need permission message persists. I want a refund today. Can't find a contact number to speak to a human. No response from Support chat (not live)
Horrible product-basically a virus you cannot get rid of
Horrible product, basically a virus, joins meetings without advance approval, even meetings you do not schedule, you cannot delete it or get rid of it, if you try it still shows up, but no longer works
This application violates HIPPA
This application violates HIPPA, takes emails, creates accounts, records data, uses the data to resell products, and will use data about your organization.
Horrifying Privacy Breach
This AI assistant was joining calls that I was not even in, and I was spoken to by upper management. I had only created an account to view the notes that were automatically emailed to me by another person, I never wanted to set it up as a notetaker for myself. Absolutely unreal.
I want to give this zero stars
I want to give this zero stars, how is this not an option? Somehow, this has INFECTED our entire organisation's Teams system and is far more difficult to remove than it should be. It has been with us for weeks now and really is not easy to remove at all and far to easy for it to "reinfect" the organisation once removed.
You had me sold at I don't need to take…
You had me sold at I don't need to take meeting notes, and you have me as a paying customer when I was able to replace status reports, rescheduled meetings, and catch-ups with me forwarding just the meeting report.
Just wow
Wow, wish I had checked the reviews here first!
I just signed up for the service for a second time yesterday, it would not record my meeting which was not their fault but I found out afterwards that the meeting type would not permit it.
Even though I just paid, and even though I will not be able to use the service, at all, they refused to issue me a refund for my monthly subscription.
Technically that is their policy, but the fact that I cannot use it and that I JUST paid, for them to not grant an exception is maddening. I will definitely look elsewhere should I need a service like this again in the future.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY
amazing
amazing. meeting note taker, summarises email and slack along with giving me preread notes for recurring meetings and giving other AI recommended tips. exceeded my expectations!
Essentially a Virus
This app operates like a virus. I met with someone who was using this; I signed into it so I could read notes he wanted to share from a previous meeting. I was surprised to see this AI at the next meeting as well: I had never even heard of it.
Unbeknownst to me, and without any prompt, it was actually entering and recording the meeting from my end. This is an absolutely unacceptable breach of privacy. At no point did it ask if I wanted it to attend and record every future meeting, it took the liberty itself of doing this, very much against my wishes.
Refund Refused
This company refused to refund unauthorized charges for me. Their website boasts $21MM raised, yet couldn't give me back ~$150. After reading other reviews and seeing their TestPilot rating of 1.5 stars, I see why I was treated the way I was.
Imposes itself on all organisational meetings and structures like a rash
I dont think Read even had time to prove its usefulness before the whole company was annoyed with its presence.
Read.ai may be useful in fully online meetings in English, so wasnt of much use in an organisation that has mixed boardroom conferencing and team meetings.
Then Read.ai just imposes itself into ALL teams meetings as a default, and no clear way to manage it from teams. I hope they fix it, because i am sure it could be a useful tool
Indistinguishable From A Computer Worm
As the onsite IT User Support for a college campus learning of the existence of this app has worsened my life exponentially. I was helping instructors set up a Zoom meeting for a potential candidate hire. This required recording the Zoom meeting for posterity. We noticed this app joining our meeting and automatically recording, we didn't pay it any mind at the time and set up a video recording. After the hour long presentation it turns out our video recording was never actually captured due to this app.
An instructor that was in the meeting came forward to me about the app and told me she never consented to it being added to her account and that she was constantly barraged with emails about upgrading to enterprise and 7 day free trials. I attempted to try deleting this from her account but as our college manage the apps added to people's accounts, I could not sign into anything on read.ai's site to manage accounts. Bizarre that this blight could have been added to any account due to this administrative setting.
It is sickening that in the pursuit of shareholder approval and market share, this app can not only breach the consent of end users by creating accounts without their knowledge and automatically recording private meetings, but bypass administrative settings at institutions.
