To be blunt
Honest, helpful and constructive criticism instead of the very Australian approach I'd prefer to take at this point. Got it.
Ok, this used to be a decent site with problems, but now it's unusable.
Every search you make is full of rooming houses and car parks. This one comes with a magic invisible balcony and tennis court! This one has 2 bedrooms and a bathroom! All in one, single, bare parking space? What a deal! However you try and exclude them using the very limited options available they just post with those options selected. The recommendation is to copy the urls and report them. Not only does that not do anything but it also wastes tons of the users time as this is pervasive issue.
This should be an easy fix for the site runner. Exclude certain phrases like 'car park', 'parking spot', 'rooming house', 'shared accommodation' and 'room available'. Ban agencies that skirt around them.
I was so frustrated trying to find a place to live on this site I went off and looked into who owns it. It's owned by News corp. Rupert Murdoch.
They have an in-house team with staff responsible for specific aspects of the website including development, design and data management. In other words, there are people paid to do the job I've been told users should do.
Where's my paycheck?
If anyone in a leadership position is reading this, those teams are not doing their jobs. This website has had an issue with search for years it has failed to address, and the issue now is that it's ballooned out of control with the rental crisis increasing shared accommodation.
Have a category for that and enforce it if you want the clicks. If you don't want them, get rid of the listings. And for the sake of all that is sane don't place the responsibility for that on your users instead of the staff you hired specifically to do that job.
When I spoke to staff they said "it's a big site and we can't monitor every post". Monitoring every post is not necessary. Keywords. Filters. Blocking. Banning. This is the Internet in 2024. These are all standard. People have done all the work for you. You just have to implement it.
If your staff are not going to do their jobs fire them and bring in people who will.
If you are too old to keep up with how the Internet works in 2024, hire someone who can keep up.
Fix it before someone realizes what's happened to your site and takes advantage of it.
They refuse to speak with the paying…
They refuse to speak with the paying customer. Only the agent, which is a joke. The customer is spending the money. They stone wall all enquiries. They write over their emails and voice messages, we offer exceptional customer service, and yet you request to speak with a Manager and they blatantly refuse. They say on their emails, we will always treat you with kindness and respect and ask that you do the same. Ha! You cannot speak with a single Manager. They deserve to lose their monopoly in the market. Let's hope they do !
Lazy and incompetent
This company is clearly very lazy and incompetent. They sent out a request for a reference by email. But instead of sending it to the right person, they sent it to me, a random person on the other side of the world. I kindly emailed their customer service to tell them of their mistake and they... shrugged. Not their problem. And just sent a reminder that I needed to give the reference!!
Whoever they are, they're clearly total drongos.
Units and apartments are not the same
This website would be so much better if there was a way to split apartments and units when searching properties. I want to buy a unit; I do NOT want to buy an apartment -- but there's no way to search for one and not the other. Such a pain in the a**. Apartments never have any land on the title; units often do. Apartments come with high strata or body corp fees; units have less. Apartment buildings have more safety risks than units. Apartments have more expensive upkeep. The list goes on. I wish that they would STOP LUMPING APARTMENTS AND UNITS IN AS THE SAME FIELD IN THE SEARCH PARAMETRES.
They advertise your home when it's NOT FOR SALE
They advertise y house that is NOT for sale ! They advertise properties that unlicensed agents put up. If you are a woman who lives alone, beware as your home could be advertised and there is NOTHING you can do to take it off ! REA are criminals and do not care about women pr children's safety. I called them and emailed them 5 times, but they will NOT take my add down. I have creeps driving to my property and my kids cannot play outside. The agent uses my house with NO contract to get calls and business. REA have no integrity. I hold REA personally responsible if anything happens to me.
I highly recommend Michael Ball from Better Homes and Gardens Glenmore Park
I highly recommend Michael Ball from Better Homes and Gardens Glenmore Park. I was in a spot of bother as I had locked myself out of my Unit, I called upon Michael who was out and about and he promptly answered my call and came to my Unit to allow me access. This was a Sunday. He went out of his way to help me.
Also I recently had to have some work done on the property walls and was warned by the potential quotes that this would be very messy, the work was completed and there was very little to clean up hence Michael's choice in employing the right people for the job.

2 of my properties wrong information
I have 2 properties and both have totally wrong information on realestate.com. Don’t trust information they put up. I have written and told them one property has been in the family for 50 years and never been sold yet they post information for the adjoining property which is a smaller block and been sold a few times corresponding to what they put as my property. The other has my 4 bedroom home on a 394 sq m block as an empty block of 301 sq m I got no response when I wrote to explain this. It is very frustrating

Disclosure of sale price against Vendors request
Disclosure of sale price against Vendors request.
As a vendor & a private family, we requested our Real Estate agent not to disclose our sale price.
Real Estate.com decided to ignore this request to whom we paid good money to advertise on their platform & have posted our property & its sale price on our local properties for sale page.
I have just finished speaking to a rep of Real Estate.com who basically told me I have no say on what they post & will not take it down. Has left a very bad taste in my mouth
Absolute scammers
Absolute scammers. The seller pays for the listing and gets no information. You can only review a real estate agent if you have a sale or buy a property so they are ensuring you cant review an agent who doesnt perform their contracted role. They are scammers, the entire industry is a scam. Tens of thousands in commission and you are left out in the cold every step of the way, you even have to beg for information about the listing,.
My home price is still stuck in 2017…
My home price is still stuck in 2017 even though property prices have soared.
False and Misleading Information
This website is full of false and misleading information about the properties shown on it. I own two properties and the descriptions, photos, 'sales history', valuations etc are riddled with errors. I have tried to get this company to correct the errors but they refuse to do anything. One property description shows a very old house, not the one year old house that is actually on the property. Another property description says there are zero parking spaces when the double garage is clearly visible in the photo. The 'sales history' for both properties are incorrect and the valuations are wildly inaccurate
