Avoid like the plague!

Wow! What a cheap and nasty website and untrained staff. First you have to set up an account on Boots website, then it directs you to Boots Recova Website.
(it takes your credit card details first). That's half the battle. The other half is trying to log back in when it locks you out! It does not send recovery e mails when promised and the helpline number provided is a woman from Boots saying that she has nothing to do with Boots Recova and then providing another number, where a disgruntled technician refused to give me his name for a complaint quoting data protection. The staff don't seem to know the processes, understand the workings of their own websites or be in a position to offer further guidance. The tech swore blind that he had sent me confirmation but nothing came through. When I asked him if it was text or e mail, he didn't know? 2 hours for this pantomime vs a twenty minute process on my smartphone when in Greece for a similar test. And the UK thinks that it's ahead of the game. Really? Poor, Boots. Very poor.

Software developed by a complete idiot

I have not much too add to all the other reviews. Can't believe I didn't check on here before I bought the tests. That will teach us to trust in the name "Boots" ever again!
First I spent a panicked 40 minutes before my return flight because I could not find the magical reference number anywhere.
Today, I managed to activate the test after a lot of faff, and upload the picture for the first test. Then activated my husband's test, and when it came to uploading the photo, I changed to the photo app to take the picture, changed back to my browser and it had logged me out (after less than a minute!). So i logged back in and now I cannot find where to add the photo, it just says "Active virus test". No Help section, no Contact section.
Both tests were negative, so honestly whatever happens, that is it for me. I've done my bit to keep everyone safe, and I'm not wasting any more time or money on these fraudsters and profiteers!!

A complete waste of time and money

I have tried to register the results of a Day 2 LFT Covid test for 2 days now but it does not matter what mobile I use (Android or i-phone) I get the same error message - "Barcode Scanner Error Initializing Scanner". There is no on the device to input a number as an alternative. Phoned 'helpline' numerous times but never got through. Just a complete waste of my time and £42.

Same Issue - Use a Laptop

Same issue uploading barcode on a mobile.
This worked for me:-

1. Scan QR code on the test with phone camera or QR reader app - this will convert into a text code
2. Use a laptop to go into the Recova 19 portal and input the text code (all of it)
3. You will need to upload a photo of the 'Photo capture area' to your laptop

The worst of the tests so far

If there was an option for zero stars this would get it. The worst and most infuriating little portal to upload the results to. The camera in the portal to capture the barcode was awful and wouldn’t focus properly. It also wasn’t entirely clear what barcode they wanted as there’s several on the box and the test itself. Never again.

Use Lucy McHattie review to successful upload

Awful, misleading instructions to upload. Scroll through these reviews to find Lucy McHattie who has saved us with some clear instructions. At point 5, mine varied from hers - I had to sign in - but got there in the end. Thanks to Lucy - not ReCova !

More taxpayer fraud

I share the views of many: the experience is profoundly bad and both Boots and Recova 19 should be made subject to supplying recompense to those they have let down so completely. This all smacks of another PPE episode with suppliers running off with taxpayers money and leaving nothing of value behind.

Problems uploading test result.

As others have said, I wasted so much time trying to figure out what number I needed to upload, and trying to use the QR code on the test panel itself. The paperwork with the test gives no information about which code is important. And the Recova-19 website gives no clues as to which number it is looking for. Usually websites have an "i" for information and an image of the packaging or example of the format of the number they want you to input. But nothing on this website. Very poorly thought through. We had an Inconclusive result too. There is no 'appeals' process and no-one to call. There was also the offer of a free re-test, which was impossible to find. Really terrible user experience, and completely unacceptable.

Stressful and confusing

The test itself was easy to do BUT uploading the result was extremely challenging and stressful. It was impossible to follow the given directions; I discovered the ‘long number’ purely by chance and could not upload the picture which I’d taken. The obviously negative result was somehow sent off, only to be deemed ‘inconclusive’. The promised ‘free retest’ was impossible to get and I refused to buy the suggested test for £79. The phone number (given out at a Boots Pharmacy) kept me hanging on so long that instead I drove 20+ miles to an NHS walk-in test centre in order to get proof. Boots should admit this is a disaster and apologise to us; ReCoVa should immediately be removed from the government list of suppliers. Why is no action being taken?

How to Activate the Test?

Noted all valid comments but I'm not even at that stage of uploading results.

How do you activate the test on the portal? I only have the option to 'buy new!'

Infuriating!

I have now been trying to upload Recova test result for 3 hours thinking I was missing something obvious as the QR code would not scan despite many attempts, log ins to Recova, calls to Boots stores, helplines, websites, to no avail. Then I read these reviews and understand what a complete waste of time, money and effort.

I won't be using this again

I won't be using this again. Utterly ridiculous. The ONLY way you can enter the QR code is by scanning it with your phone, actually copying out the 26 letters and numerals by hand (Copy and Paste DOESN'T work!) and entering it manually. The QR code will not scan. And the only way I found that out was by reading other reviews, otherwise I'd still be tearing my hair out. I hope this is useful to someone in the same predicament. It's not fit for purpose and the instructions are misleading.

Shocking and a complete waste of time

Shocking and a complete waste of time. I have been into Boots to try and find help and they recommended I call customer services as they cannot assist in-store. Customer services for Boots does not answer after holding for more than an hour. I have also tried following Lucie's instructions as per the reviews -
opening the camera on my phone, scanning the QR code on the test strip and entering the number letter combination and copying that code. However, when I open the Recova19 Portal, I am unable to get into the portal as it does not recognize my email address or password. Any suggestions?

This works... Ignore the instructions

Ignore the instructions...

After about an hour of frustration I followed these instructions posted on here a few days ago. All then worked well...

SCAN with QR reader the QR code on the actual plastic test reader where you put the sample in. Write down the very long number that comes up EXACTLY (ie I think all in capitals.) Then manually type this into where it asks for the barcode (it may work copy and paste but didn't for me.)

Done it twice with no issues eventually. Good luck.

Ignore the upload instructions

I eventually cracked the upload of the test sample and card after many exchanges with the Boots helpline. The solution is to clear you cache before every log in attempt and manually enter your email address and password every time. You need to scan the test sample QR code and enter the resultant coed manually into the appropriate box in the application. You can then upload the picture of the card and sample. Ignore the instructions on the card. Won't be using Boots again.
