Give your card details at your peril!

Try to charge you extra part way through the policy with zero communication as to why. No emails, messages etc. And you are then at their mercy as to how much the renewal fee is. 300% increase but if you cancel the cancellation charge is more than the original policy cost as buried in their t&cs it says the first year is discounted. Absolute cowboys and can’t believe this is allowable by the regulators. Total rip off so be warned.

Scam company.

Just like everyone else here I discovered that upon contract renewal they informed me that next years price would be a huge increase.
When i wanted to opt out of the auto renewal they said there was an additional charge that i had to pay before it could be canceled.
However all of the documents received said nothing about a multi year contract and stated I could opt out of auto renew by contacting them.
When I phoned they were unhelpful, obnoxious and even hung up the phone.

Increased policy during the year and i was not informed. Again said email had been sent but never recieved !!
Renewal was £46.16 which is double any where else. Only received £33.36 refund.
AVOID at all costs total waste of money !!

INCLUDING SISTER/PARENT COMPANIES DYNAMO COVER, ACTION CALL, HOME RESCUE.CO

Draw you in with a cheap deal, then increase contract by RPI plus admin fees and put you on auto renew (Rip off renewal price of course). If you want to cancel policy or auto renewal they charge you fees!

Not sure how they get away with this. They are only a BROKER. Stick to buying directly from actual Break Down company

Total waste of money, AVOID

In order for the breakdown cover to be activated, you have to send a picture of your dashboard. I sent the picture and got an automated email that said if there was a problem, I'd hear within 48 hours. 15 days later, I got an email to say that my picture failed to pass and my cover wasn't valid. Good thing I didn't break down in this time, and I was driving up and down the country! Of course that was 1 day past the cooling off period, so I had to pay £15.99 to cancel the inactive insurance (almost half the cost of the cover).

Total waste of money. I should have known it wasn't a real company when my welcome documents included a picture of some mediocre white dude who looked like a wannabe personal trainer.

Really bad after sales service. No way to cancel a renewal.

I took breakdown cover from Recovercover last year for £21.90. This year they sent me a renewal invite for about £60. I decided not to renew. This is where the problems began. I tried to call their helpline. They said the only way to cancel the renewal was to do it via the website. So I went to the website and each time I tried to cancel, their website threw this error "Cancel Your Policy. There was an issue processing your request, please get in touch or try again later." Finally a day before it renewed I took a screenshot of this for my records. As expected they send an email the next day saying they have renewed my policy and they were unable to take payment from the credit card I registered with them last year so the balance was due. They also informed me that if I didnt make payment they would send my details to a collection agency. I tried to call the number in the email but again I was told that all cancellations are to be done via the website. The website would display the same error. I then decided to email the screenshot to the sales email they put in the email they sent me. So I emailed sales at dynamocover and immediately got this autoresponse. This is an excerpt from a long email "Hello,
Thank you for contacting Dynamo Cover.
This inbox is no longer monitored as we have now moved to our fully automated DIY bot to process any changes you would wish to make and handle queries..... If you are looking to report that something has gone wrong please visit dynamocover com forward slash complaints where you can raise a ticket and a member of staff will be in touch within 8 working days."

So I clicked on the complaints link, only to get a 'Page not found' error.

I hope this review will help others to get a better understanding of the appalling after sales customer service that this company has. In short it is extremely hard to get in touch with someone human who can help. Also it appears to be extremely hard to cancel your renewal.

Cancel charges 45% of renewal quote!!!!

Recover cover and dynamocover are breakdown agency services. I have been completely stung because they didn’t tell me I was on auto renewal , in fact it called the renewal an ‘invite’ which as a consumer is completely misleading . It cannot be an invite if they believe you are on auto renewal . I had to cancel as my new insurance covered breakdown, they charged 45% of the renewal cost in broker charges and admin charges . Read that again 45%!!!!

Awful customer support

It’s impossible to contact them, they never responded to my requests for support. Prices were increased but they still didn’t send me cover documents or the keychain I ordered. Would not recommend them.

Unauthorised credit-card charge

First, they lured me into buying more expensive cover with the promise of a free vehicle check. Well, that free check turned out to be Kwik Fit's free winter vehicle check that they offer to anyone who goes to their website.

So that was pretty scammy already.

Then 4 months into my 12 months' cover, they suddenly charged my card again. When I complained, they referred to their small print about price increases. But a price increase is not the same as a new charge 4 months into a year's cover. I paid a "Total Premium" for "1 Year" of cover. Besides, even their price-increase small print does not add up to a 30% extra charge.

They only refunded me after I told them I would be reporting them to regulators and my bank.

I feel bad for their other customers. They deserve refunds too.

I certainly recommend against trusting these people with your credit-card details.

They appear to have 'got you' FOREVER

I have tried, on so many occasions, to cancel my 'auto-renew' (breakdown insurance). I can't do it unless I am online. I can't get online because (apparently) my account is in a 'status' that they cannot define. My emails are answered by DIY BOT. If you call - you wait - forever - then get cut off. The only option I have - to stop being a customer - is to ask my bank to put a stop on payment requests. I signed up to Dynamo.com (same company or affiliation) and have been trying to contact them (and/or Dynamo/recover cover) for weeks. How interesting that all the verified 5 and 4 star reviews (Trust pilot) (Dynamo) are from those who experienced the vehicle response/recovery process or quick policy purchase. Good luck to those more positive reviewers when they try to cancel their auto-renew or policy altogether!

poor cancellation policy

poor cancellation policy. to cancel your policy even after 30days you need to pay £15.99 on top of original policy price.

that means. if you pay £90 for the policy. to cancel the policy after 30days you need to pay £90+£15.99. total you paying for your policy for one month £105.99.

Absolute joke of an RPI increase

Absolute joke of an RPI increase, based on a price prior discount. I paid £20 for an annual policy 3 weeks ago, only to receive a >50% RPI increase, because i bought from the comparethemarket and they did it based on the prediscounted price. A gross way to do business.

Decided after 5 months of policy to charge me again. I have had no correspondence telling me about this charge. Obviously now can’t speak to anyone about this.

Extortionate price increase

Extortionate price increase on auto-renewal - think I wouldn’t notice?

No, I’ll cancel that (which means calling your call centre and waiting to get through as you don’t allow customers to do that online) and you can shove your outdated, shady rip-off practices, thank you.
