Extremely disappointing

UPDATE:
I entered into a six-month licence agreement with Regus for an office space at the Peterborough centre. However, it quickly became clear that the space and facilities provided were not as represented during the sign-up process. I was misled regarding key features such as parking availability and office customisation options — only to be informed after payment that these were not available, and that there was a waiting list for parking.

The office itself was entirely unsuitable for the professional use agreed. It had been sold as a podcast room but these spaces bore no resemblance to the promotional photographs displayed on the Regus Peterborough website — images which, I later discovered, were not even taken at the Peterborough location.

The workspace had no independent ventilation control, constant fan noise, inadequate soundproofing, and minimal privacy. Conversations from neighbouring offices were clearly audible, making recording and professional work impractical. Additionally, I was later informed during induction that meeting rooms could only be booked on the same day, rendering them useless for any planned business meetings.

The overall condition of the space was poor, the communal printer frequently out of toner, and no basic health and safety information was provided. When a fire alarm was triggered (not a test), there was no clear evacuation procedure and staff appeared uncertain of the correct protocol — a situation completely inconsistent with statutory Health & Safety requirements.

Despite these issues, I made a genuine attempt to use the office for approximately one month. However, it soon became apparent that the environment was not conducive to my professional needs. I therefore made the decision to prioritise my work and relocate to a new office and podcast space in a properly managed, professional environment.

In less than 20 working days, I was billed nearly £1,900, including an attempt to apply a third retainer — something I regard as wholly unreasonable. Combined with reading numerous public reviews reporting similar unexpected charges, this raised serious concerns about the company’s billing practices.

All invoices were paid promptly and in full. The company’s insistence on retaining my card details, despite this, was unjustified and disproportionate. Based on my experience and others’ reviews, this policy appears primarily intended to allow arbitrary or unauthorised debits.

Overall, Regus is more focused on maximising fees than on providing a safe, professional, and reliable workspace. Given my experience, I would not recommend this facility and urge others to exercise HUGE caution before entering into any agreement with Regus.

Hi Lee,
I’m sorry to hear about your disappointing experience, however, your comments deserve defending.
Your office was not selected based on photographs; you visited the centre in person with our city manager and chose the office before signing the agreement. Other options were shown but didn’t meet your budget.
It seems there was a misunderstanding regarding our Design Your Office service: this covers furniture only while painting in your chosen colours can be arranged at an additional cost.
The use of the community meeting room for two free hours daily was discussed during your tour and welcome meeting. This is a complimentary benefit, subject to availability. All other meeting rooms can be booked in advance at an additional cost.
At Regus, we place the highest importance on health and safety, and evacuation posters are displayed throughout the centre. During a recent fire drill, deliberately unannounced to reflect real emergency conditions, you were seen at the correct evacuation point.
About your billing concerns: our billing cycle issues invoices one month in advance. As you signed in mid-August for a 1st September start, you were billed immediately for your retainer and September, then again at month-end for October.
We ask all customers to set up automated payments, as outlined in your agreement. As an exception, we’ve accepted an alternative method with an additional retainer, which will be refunded if you switch to automated payments via your online account.
I apologise for any issues you may have encountered with the facilities: regular maintenance across all Regus locations, and the wellbeing of visitors, customers, and staff, is a top priority.
Your city manager is in direct contact with you to address all your concerns but please feel free to contact me at Lorraine.brule@regus.com for further support.
Best,

Awful experience

Awful experience! I joined them 31st Oct and paid all three invoices. I have been inundated with threatening late payment emails, late charges and the crazy thing is they owe me nearly £2k. Their accounts department has no clue, they have taken 7 payments from my account and raised 5 invoices but apparently I’m £10k overdue on invoices??

I have formally complained and requested back the money they have stolen from me but 48hrs later absolutely nothing!

I would never use them again it’s been a month long of frustration and anxiety

Hi Kerry,
I am sorry to hear of your dissatisfaction.
Our regular monthly invoices are due no later than on the 15th day of the month. If payment is not received by the due date, we incur administration costs and, though we would like to avoid charging you for this, we must pass on a late fee to you. You can review invoice and payment dates on your statement of account, available in your online account. Although you did make payments for those initial invoices as you state, they were paid well after the due date.
A member of my team has been in touch to give you information relating to the outstanding balance and to answer any further question you may have.
Kind regards,

UNPROFESSIONAL AT ALL

YOU CANNOT REALLY EXPECT service which worth the payment. I really do not recommend to contract regus Peterborough or whole UK branch. They let theft happened on March 2023 but no one takes any responsibilities till now.

I had a dedicated desk which I can leave my stuff under my responsibility, that's what the staff A said. The room has key and only contracted some people can enter. I all know them and they also leave their stuff.

The actual room was leaked the other day, so the staff A offered me another room as alternative room. She(the staff A) never told me they use this room for other purpose and let MANY UNSPECIFIED UNCONTRACTED people stay in this room.(Actually as patitents waiting room of GP doctor) Then this disaster theft happened and my laptop, 2nd phone and other accessories were stolen.

The day after, because I did not know they let such poeple in, I just talked and asked to the staff A&B about this. I was thinking it is my fault fisrt but the neighbor of this room witnessed me they let such people in. She staff A just tried to hide what she have done. This is really not professional either sincere.

The staff B said "I even left my stuff my room, but never happen such thing!." before the other staff B was explained what the staff A have done. But after the other staff B seems to be talked about what the actual staff has done, she changed her attitude as "no compensation as T&C!!" "You cannot say it happend during then!" What they insist was I have to proove this happend during then. They even told me they have checked with GP and the GP witnessed no other peoeple get into this room, but actually the GP kept coming out and in according to the neighbors, how the GP can proove this???

I, of course, know T&C but it should be after what they clearly do proper work for my contract and payment. Also they cannot insist wrong evidence or excuse!!! Many other people in this floor also leave their properties too, but what can believe?

I have send official complaint letter to REGUS UK office in London, but they haven't answered yet. YOU CANNOT REALLY EXPECT service which worth the payment.

Hi Satomi,

We recognise that this situation is not a positive one and we’re sorry about it, but we are not responsible.

It’s surprising that you left these online comments despite us already thoroughly assisting you.

You occupy a co-working space with us but due a temporary leak in the area, we provided you with short-term access to an office within your centre. We did not provide keys to you and made it very clear that it was a temporary measure and not a private office for your solo use.

You opted not to have a secure locker in your co-working space but felt it now possible to store your personal items in a cupboard in this office. Since then, the office was used, and you inform us that these items have since gone missing.

When discussing this with you, each time you stated a different place that you had left the items in; this is confusing and inconsistent.

We have reviewed CCTV to understand what has occurred but no evidence to support theft could be found.

We’re very sorry that your items have gone missing. As detailed to you when you joined, we trust that you have your own insurance and encourage you to make a claim to them for compensation or replacement.

Thank you again for your cooperation.

Best,

Lorraine Brule
