I've been clearing my hair for over 10 years now, and I've been using Renaissance Henna and Indigo for the last 9 years, I used Renaissance because I know for sure it is all pure, and I will carry on using it because I'm happy with the results I get.

Ordered organic Henna powder and Indigo powder. Arrived promptly. Indigo gave excellent coverage of grey hair when used after the initial henna application

This is a review after my second purchase! (life got in the way of me writing one the first go). I'm beyond pleased with the henna I got from renaissancehenna!

I went for the Organic BAQ Henna the first go and the 200g was enough for two applications for me, although looking back, I could have easily made 3 applications since the resulting dye was quite condensed.

If you like less runny dye though, it would have been ideal for you I think! No mess, no fuss, just parted my hair and went in batches. Wrapped my hair in cling film (not eco but I'm working on this part of the process) and then an old black scarf to keep it warm.

Stood like that for 3-4hrs and the results... just wow. I love that, being natural, you're getting the tint you want but it's /your/ tint, since it has a unique reaction and shade depending on your hair. So you're not gonna get anymore personal, customized results than natural dye imo ☀️

Anyhow, the second time around I wanted to treat myself and got two body quality henna (some reviews mentioned it is finer in texture and perhaps, more pigmented) and two cassia oblovata cause I'm obsessed with the texture, thickness and overall feel (and scent!!) henna dye gives me, but didn't wanna add more color - it's true that it doesn't leave the hair strand and you can only add on top of it, and since I don't wanna go darker, I'm trying to not overlap dye on already dyed hair.

Lemme get (more) real with you for a second, I've been dying my hair with chemical, commercial dye for ages now, starting around 10-12yrs ago I think. I've tried ALL the reds, some purples, blue blacks and even hot pink. I've had pure white strands (note: my natural hair is a medium ashy brown with golden shine) so I went ✨in✨ when it came to dying my hair.

I've tried almost everything the market has to offer and I am telling you, hand on my heart, that henna is the only dye that does not fade with time! (it oxidizes, sure, with prolongued exposure but that can be remedied with natural acids (citrus juices) or vinegar if you can withstand it (I can't 😂).

The earthy smell of henna does not bother me, I actually love it, I smell like green tea for a week after applying it ❤️ and my boyfriend keeps sniffing my hair and saying it smells great, too. If you prefer other smells, you can easily add a drop of essential oils to shift the scent profile.

But really, after years and years of amonia, lab made scents, dyes that stained clothes and towels, I find henna does not fade, does not stain as bad as commercial chemical dyes, smells amazing 🍵 does not need frequent reapplication (unless you wanna go for a deeper shade), does not blow the bank, is amazing for your hair's health and the environment's health and just- I love it, okay? 🤭💕

I know most reviews out there claim henna stains on surfaces/clothes/etc stay forever but I care to disagree. I even dyed my hair without gloves and the only stain remaining is on my fingernails (that will disappear soon as they've grown already).

NO towels have been stained, no white bedsheets carry any sort of spot, no white tshirt is now anything other than pure white. Once properly rinsed out of the hair, the reimaining slightly-tinted water that falls out of your hair when you wash it is nothing more than briskly steeped tea - does not stain, can easily be thrown in the wash if needed or even handwashed and is made brand new.

So yeah! If you're thinking about giving henna a go, definitely do it, don't listen to the needlessly harsh comments regarding stains and whatnot, just make sure you rinse all the product out at the end of your application, until the water runs almost clear (again, think 2-3min steeped green tea) and then you're good to go!

One thing I do post rinse is simply add a pump or two of eco conditioner I got from a local refillable-type shop, scrunch it in the locks, rinse, gently pat dry and done ✨ the shade blooms fully around two days after but I adore the brightness of it immediately after application ❤️

I was despairing because I developed a really bad reaction to hair dyes containing PPD ( which is pretty much all of them) and at the same time was experiencing stress-related hair loss and a serious amount of gray ( about 70%). A brilliant combo to make a woman feel low! However, after much research I decided to give henna a try, having last used it 30 years ago when I wanted orangey red hair. This time, I just wanted dark brown - no orange! I ordered the starter kit containing henna and Indigo for the 2 stage process. I’m SO glad I did. The results were brilliant - very dark brown and excellent gray coverage. The instructions were very detailed and I followed them to the letter. I can’t tell you how relieved I am - and delighted - to have shiny, healthy looking hair that is dark brown and actually feels thicker despite the hair loss. I’ve done 2 treatments 4 weeks apart and I’ve placed another order, this time with Amla oil to give that a try too. Thank you Renaissance Henna - I’m so happy I found you!

I have been using henna powder to dye my hair for more than 20 years here in the UK and abroad and this is fantastic both for quality (easy to mix, excellent colour results) and value for money. I would highly recommend it.

I adore Renaissance Henna and have started using it again after sinning for a few years and going back to salon dye. More fool me because my hair has suffered. After a couple of applications of the Moroccan Henna the condition of my hair is better and the colour outstanding. I'm in my mid 40s now and also hitting *that* time when skin/hair becomes more sensitive and my hormones are an absolute riot - so am reacting to lots of things that normally wouldn't bother me. I'm fine with Henna as a colourant and enjoying the process again. I've got the Rajasthan Henna to use next - this was always my go to before and so I know how good the colour will be.
