Totally incompetent

Totally incompetent. Don’t seem to understand the difference between a Limited Company Director and a Sole Trader. Continually asking for evidence of my “self-employed income” despite explaining numerous times that I’m technically employed by my Ltd company. Had the audacity to ask my Chartered Accountant for projected earnings despite being furnished with P60 data?! W#F! Very rude and probing communications, disrespectful to my accountants who are extremely established in the local area. If I see this company’s name again in future, I’d step away immediately. Any estate agents still using this company should take a good long look at the “service” they’re (not) providing to their future tenants. Appalling. 0/5

As a tenant

As a tenant, the level of information taken was excessive and invasive. I've been through the process many times with other agencies and never experienced anything like it. I was sent a link to my email address that linked to document upload. the documents could be accessed by anyone who had access to my inbox so this felt spectacularly unsecure. There were issues with handling encrypted data files when we didn't want to send them in this format.

Firstly, we would like to put your mind at rest that Rent4sure’s referencing process is secure, confidential and complies with all GDPR guidelines. Rent4sure’s platform meets international standards and our security policies and processes are externally audited every year. We’re certified under the prestigious ISO27001, the Information Security Standard, which means we’ve been independently assessed to an international standard based on industry best practices.

The link sent to your email address was only accessible for a short time so you could click directly on it to get access to your tenant portal. This is a standard procedure when we complete references online, and documents can only be accessed by the referencing specialists who are dealing with your case.

Unfortunately, we were not able to receive an encrypted email which contained information associated with the application but an alternative solution was found as quickly as possible so that the document could be accessed.

We will never ask for excessive information but are required to obtain enough facts on behalf of the agent to ensure the check is thorough, detailed and accurate, and that potential tenants are genuine and have the means to pay their rent on time. The amount of information that’s needed can vary, depending upon the type of reference being conducted and the individual circumstances.

Fantastic service

Fantastic service - Lee Rudkin-Stevens is our account manager and is fantastic, super helpful and is always on hand to answer queries/questions. When we've needed something looked into (for the handful of times we have) he's resolved things quickly. Thanks Lee!

Chris was great!

The referencing process was okay, but more lengthy and complicated than I've ever experienced. On a positive note, separate to the actual referencing process, Chris was extremely friendly and helpful with getting us a great WiFi deal and sorting it for our new place. I'm Rating 5 stars strictly because of our interactions with him, otherwise maybe a 3.5

Very friendly and helpful staff.Good customer service with progress updates at every step. Their references are very thorough so you can feel secure in the knowledge that the reference taken out is acurate and correct. Not the cheapest but, definitely the best.

Extremely Helpful

Rent4Sure have been extremely helpful when it came to doing our reference check. They even gave us the option to help set up our broadband. This process was made so simple by Chris Wesson and I can’t thank him enough. The service he provided was excellent and made the process of finding our broadband super easy.

If you want to be harassed use this company

Abhorrent company, ruined my experience of renting asked not just me but my employer, guarantor and everyone else for way too much information when what they already had was more than enough. (Ps. I shouldn't even need a guarantor). They harass you every day and night. I was sent the first email Friday night 8pm, and obviously didn't respond as it was no longer working hours. I got harassment emails Saturday 8pm and Sunday 8pm in capital letters saying URGENT when it hadn't even been 1 working day. How dare they harass me on my weekend when they had only emailed on Friday night. I reported as spam and the emails stopped thankfully. The same happened with my guarantor as they sent her the wrong form and continued to harass her to sign it even though she had told them it was wrong. Vile horrible company.

When an agent asks us to carry out a reference on their behalf, they rely on us to provide them with evidence about whether potential tenants are genuine and have the means to pay their rent on time.

We will never ask for more information than we need, but it must be enough to ensure the check is thorough, detailed and accurate and that it complies with all current legislation. This is to protect customers from fraud, identity theft and other illegal activities, and to allow the agent and landlord to make an informed decision based on the facts.

We ask applicants and guarantors to provide the information as soon as they reasonably can so that the moving process is not delayed or put at risk, which could cause inconvenience and expense to landlords and their tenants. Reminders are sent out because sometimes emails go astray or are missed the first time.

While the vast majority of our reviews are positive, please be assured that we look into and assess all feedback so that we can keep on improving our customer service and achieve the highest standards and experience for everyone.
