I had a very frustrating experience…

I had a very frustrating experience with this car rental company. It took me about 30 minutes to find the car, and I walked around the entire parking area several times. I also could not get through by phone, as my flight arrived late and the company only works until 8:00 p.m.

There were also difficulties when I returned the car, as it was hard to reach anyone by phone. The instructions were not clear, and I was not given proper information.

In addition, there was no clear explanation about the €1,800 deposit. I had to wait a whole week to get my money back. First they said they would contact the bank, then the head office, but nothing was resolved quickly. It was extremely stressful and caused a lot of unnecessary worry.

This company gave us car with technical
Issue , we almost got in to big crush. Wheel just came off. They do not take care or there cars or safety of clients , putting lives in danger.
We got a BMW payed 200euros per day and the wheel just came off while driving on the third day !!!
Support is so bad they didn’t even apologize.
Worst car company !!!

Highly recommended

Highly recommended, full insurance for peace of mind, communication has a big room to improve, otherwise top notch.
Somehow there was an error during my booking, and booked a month too early, vanrell helped with discount for next booking, highly appreciated gesture.
Also they replaced my car as had too many scratches and I didn't like to drive it, really highly recommended!!!

If I could give less than one star I would. The car was given to us with zero petrol. The air conditioning was faulty. When I asked if I could return the car back earlier due to my 1 year old not travelling well with the heat, they refused. Zero customer service and zero petrol. AVOID this place!

Bad experience

Unfortunately, we don't have a good experience with Vanrell. We rented a car for just one day, but my daughter forgot her purse in the car. She is saying it fell between the door and seat (she was sitting behind the driver, on the left side) and as she was playing a game on the phone, she thought she will pick it up when getting off the car. My husband stopped in front of our hotel just to drop us off. We jumped off the car quickly on the right side, as car were passing by on the left side. So the left side wasn't even opened. In this rush she forgot to pick up her purse. She had her sunglasses there and a wallet with all her savings (360 euros). She was forbidden to take all her money to the vacation but she did. Lesson learned. She cried her eyes out. We are not millionairs, she doesnt carry this amount of money around randomly. So we went back to Vanrell and heard nothing has been found. We are 1000% sure the purse was left in the car. I bet if there wasn't this amount of money, the bag would have been found. I am very dissapointed, as first,when she said she left it in the car, I was happy she didnt leave it somewhere on the bench, but was sure I can trust the company and it will be found.
I feel like the office workers, even the manager were very nice, they really believed the cleaning company, they told me to accept that maybe the purse wasnt left in the car. I know they have to believe their team mates who clean the cars, but we know the purse was left there. So if you decide to rent from Vanrell, be sure to check your car 100 times before you return the keys.

Support Local? Never Again After This Experience

I rented a Mercedes A106 from their Alcudia office on Tuesday 12th August for 4 days, following the sales representative’s advice to purchase all additional insurance. Due to an urgent change, I had to fly to Geneva at 08:45 on Saturday. The airport office opens at 08:00, yet they refused to accept the return there and forced me to drive to Can Pastilla instead. How come you declwre that you have 24 hrs assistsnce while your representative replying to your offical whats up lline is not even able communite in English.

Hotels in Palma are always flexible with last-minute bookings or date changes, but this local rental company not only refused any refund or credit for a future visit (even in high season, which I could still accept), they also made it impossible for me to use the car until my flight — despite having paid for it.

This experience clearly shows why many travelers prefer global brands via platforms like Skyscanner. I had chosen to book directly with a local company to support the local economy — something I will not repeat

I just wanted to say how good the new…

I just wanted to say how good the new service from Vanrell is. I got home last night and we had a Jeep Avenger for 3 days. What a fabulous car and it was so easy to pick up and return the car automatically. As always a great experience using Vanrell. I have already booked again for September! I have only used Vanrell for the last 6 years and travel to Mallorca a few times a year. Could not recommend them more.

Vanrell car hire Awful experience hire

28/06/2025 hired a VW caddy from Palma, pick up was ok, car had zero fuel and had a few wear and tear marks on it, including a hole on the interior boot door card.
The hire cost €340 for car and $137 for insurance so wasn’t cheap, on arrival they spoke very little English but basically advised us to take out a further insurance to cover everything - cost €35.
Drove the car without incident for a week and returned it to the airport.
4 days after returning to the uk €113 was taken from my Mastercard and 2 days later I received an email claiming I was responsible for the hole in the door card and as I hadn’t reported it at the time my insurance wouldn’t cover it.
I tried without success to cancel the Mastercard transaction.
I have replied to Vanrells original email without reply and created a separate complaint email to which I received an automated email saying they were busy.
The car ended up being very expensive at nearly €500 for the week, on top of the €5 airport parking cost, €80 for fuel and €113 fictitious damage charge.
For anyone in the future avoid this car company at all costs.

Good experience

The car was brand new (Lancia Ypsilon), clean and with many good features. The smarlock feature was great, got the car pretty quick. Questions about the pick up were answered quite quick through whatsapp. Read the terms, because we did not know that we had to pay for our airport parking ticket (haven't seen that before). Also the tyre pressure light was on when we got the car. Overall a great experience!

Avoid AVOID AVOID SCAMMERS got the full insurance package for peace of mind arrived to drop the car off asked the chap there if I could use the rubbish bin for 1 McDonalds bag and a drinks bottle who said don't worry my friend ill get rid of it to my surprise a email saying pay €150 cleaning fee nice try always use a pre paid card on these scammers so they can't take any more money

Horrible experience. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
Service is rude and unprofessional. Insurance is sold as "Comfort Plus" but includes A LOT of excemptions in which NOTHING is paid. Fraudulent charges to credit card and empty gas tank are topping up the overall atrocious experience.
Again: AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

Terrible customer service

I have been a customer several years and eventually been treated terribly bad, customer service inefficient and not helpful. Other know companies available inside the Palma airport terminal offering excellent service and quality cars for similar price.
Avoid at all costs.

Terrible rent company

Terrible rent company. Rented a car in Majorca had the car for 3 hours. Picked car up from where they said the car was legally parked - Returned car to exact same spot 3 hours later. Now just received a traffic violation for parking car in a non parking area. LOL got a hold of them and they were as much use as a chocolate teapot. Basically lied to me on email (evidence). Sent them all details, even what the rental person said to me on return " iv parked car in very same spot" "perfect thank you" Car was definitely moved at night as was booked by a police officer. Well scam lords of Majorca, your not getting any of my money and happy to go to court to expose this scam in detail as i have all the proof I need. Police informed and their local authority. I look forward to the battle ahead.

Follow on from this - I sent my claim to police and gave them all evidence. went to court and got thrown out and the rental car company got it in neck - Be aware again of the terrible rental company.

Shady Fraudulent Charges. Beware.

While Vanrell was recommended to us and…

While Vanrell was recommended to us and initially seemed convenient, I would not recommend them based on my experience.

On a Sunday, I contacted them via WhatsApp and they were able to deliver a Mini Cooper rental within a few hours. They didn't ask many questions or require a deposit, which seemed odd at the time, but we appreciated the quick service.

We used the car to explore Mallorca for several days without any issues. However, returning the car at the Mallorca airport was a bit tricky due to the unclear drop-off location.

A few days later, I was shocked to see a $160 fee added to my bill for allegedly smoking in the car and leaving cigarette ashes, accompanied by doctored photos. I don't smoke, and this felt like a clear scam. It seems they're hoping customers won't follow up on false charges.

Thankfully, I used an American Express card and am able to dispute the fee. If you do use Vanrell, take detailed photos of the car's interior and exterior before and after your rental to protect yourself.

Overall, be wary of rental car companies in Mallorca and consider other options if possible. My experience with Vanrell was unfortunately marred by this incident, and I wouldn't want others to fall victim to similar scams.
