AVOID AVOID AVOID, FRAUDULENT COWBOYS!

As with other reviewers I would strongly recommend that you steer clear of these cowboys!

I hired a car through Rentalcars with a company called Interrent (Goldcars) and was led to believe that all costs were paid upfront. When I picked the car up in Malaga Airport Interrent attempted to add airport costs/taxes onto the bill as well as selling excess waiver insurance.

The person ahead of me in the queue was complaining to them that they had done the same thing. I overheard that conversation which is why I was so insistent that they charge me appropriately. They agreed the charges on the screen without the ridiculous insurance (why would anyone pay that much for such a small insurance!?!?) and then proceeded to add it back in, getting me to sign an electronic pad, not the agreement. I only found out when I saw my credit card bill.

I complained to Interrent, who magically produced an agreement with my signature on it (Didn't sign that agreement!). I then complained to Rentalcars, who after several weeks came back to me and said that Interrent weren't replying so they couldn't do anything about it and directed me to the credit card company.

They entice you in with low charges and then was their hands of you when you're inevitable ripped off!

Dodgy car hire company and agent

Several issues with Rental cars and green motion the actual car hire company:
1. I called to inform of a 4 hour delay in collection time from 5 to 9pm. I was told not possible and I would lose the car or par £300!
2. Stressed I called again fortunately was told not a problem - I requested email confirmation.
3. Arrived at rental desk at 8pm. The desk guy said I was late by half hour so car cancelled and 'no similar car available' ! I showed the email (lucky I had it)....long looks between the guy and his colleague - obviously this is a common trick.
4. The car was (surprise surprise) available.
5. I had paid £75 excess protection insurance which I think was a waste of money.
6. Despite the above £1750 was blocked from a credit card (Debit card not accepted...why???). I had to ask my guest to use his credit card - embarassing ! Which meant he had to be added as driver ...why?? That was more pointless expense - even though he doesn't drive.
7. We were bombarded with bewildering time wasting extras sales talk.
8. The car was only 7 seater and I had requested 8/9 seater as I had a family of 8. The guy said I'd made a mistake booking!
Returning the car was ok....so far....just waiting for more bad news. Stressful experience. Like dealing with a banana republic. Moral: go DIRECT to a known reputable car hire company. AVOID ONLINE AGENTS!!

DO NOT USE RENTAL CARS UK

DO NOT USE RENTAL CARS UK

I had no response to several emails and then sent a letter about an overcharge but no response until after I returned the car. Europcar recommended that I should always book direct with them. I was given a poor but adequate car about which the attendant said, we know this car it is very scratched. As I was in a hurry, I ensured that a few more scratches were recorded but did not notice that it had no car aerial, which I needed for traffic reports on UK motorways. Europcar clearly give their worst cars to customers who do not book direct. I have been offered a 10% discount off my next car hire but I will not book with Rental Cars ever again!

Do not trust this company.

Do not trust this company.
I booked a car through them. They use different outfitters for the rentals. I rented a car in Austria Salzburg and and the car rental company was Megadrive or Buchbinder.
They charged me an extra Euro 20 a day for the car.
They are both a fraud.
Rather pay a little more and get a the car you want and honesty but stay away from deals they offer.

No car and no help

We booked a car through RentalCars for collection at Bergamo airport. However when we went to the DOLLAR desk we were told a car was not available. After some discussion we were told a car was available in Brescia (an hour away) and to go there ASAP as the office was due to close soon. They could not confirm any costs would be refunded but kept stressing we needed to go ASAP.
We tried to call RentalCars but were on hold for a long time so a local friend drive us there instead..

We had a horrible stressful start to a holiday. Rentalcars left us totally on our own with a young child. And now, to add further insult, Rentalcars deny this even happened... and have offered us EUR20 as compensation.

Avoid this company, We used to use them regularly but the aftercare was non existent and any emails we had in reply to this issue have been sarcastic and unhelpful

AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Arrived on the airport only to be told I had to wait a further 2 hours before a car was available despite the booking taking into account all my flight details. Called Rentalcars to try and reserve and their customer service is totally useless. Said their is nothing they could do and if I cancelled and went elsewhere I would still be charged as it would be less than 48 hours notice. Not prepared to call the other car providers to see if they had a car available and said even if they did I would then be charged an amendment fee.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

Would not allow me to amend booking

Would not allow me to amend booking, once I reached my 48hr mark customer service was them able to help to amend my booking but because coincidentally it's now inside the 48hrs to amend will cost me MORE than double what I was originally paying!

AVOID DOLLAR/THRIFTY!

AVOID DOLLAR/THRIFTY!

SHOULD BE NAMED RIP OFF RENTALS! DOLLAR ARE AN ABSOLUTE JOKE.

BOUGHT AND PAID FOR A CAR HIRE IN EDINBURGH BRANCH, THROUGH RENTALCARS, THATS RIGHT...ALREADY PAID FOR, SO THE CAR WAS TECHNICALLY MINE.

FLIGHT WAS DELAYED SO TRIED CALLING AND CALLING AND CALLING, NO ANSWER. WHEN MY MOTHER FINALLY ARRIVED TO PICK UP THE CAR, THEY GAVE IT AWAY SAYING YOU WERE OVER 2 HOURS LATE. WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES IT MAKE, I HAVE PAID FOR IT, SO THAT CAR SHOULD SIT IN THE CARPARK THE WHOLE OF MY RENTAL IF I WANTED IT TO. SO THEY MADE MORE MONEY AND WE WERE WITHOUT A VEHICLE AND HOLIDAY RUINED!

THE ICING ON THE CAKE.....THEY OFFERED A £20 M&S VOUCHER FOR ESSENTIALLY A LOSS OF £300+, DELAYED REPLIES AND COUNTLESS EMAILS THEY WOULDN'T BUDGE.

NEVER USING THEM OR/THRIFTY AGAIN. AVOID!!!

My reply to Mike of Rentalcars UK:

My reply to Mike of Rentalcars UK:

I know I have made a mistake, but there was nobody of you to help us via phone or email when we wanted to pick up the car!
I am repeating:
your phone was dead, no reply to our 12 calls and 2 emails, one mail was cancellation of the car rent (the email was replied the next day bringing the negative solution),
no wish whatsoever to change the name of the driver on our behalf (my husband also has a driving licence)- obviously you like easy money, which I have learned this fact from many other reviews.
Unfortunately I read them too late.
Punishment of 230 euros for skipping the letter -n (Mira-n)!
No doubt this case will be spread further to put other people off your service. For sure you won't have us and our friends as customers ever again.
I have never been disappointed that badly with any company in 64 years.
If you wanted and if you were really sorry, you would solve the issue properly even now .

Have a look at other cases, e. g.
this is written under AVOID:
If your flight is delayed, you cannot use their online booking management, then you ring, are given inaccurate advice to contact the destination company direct (as per confirmed with their website) then refuse to acknoledge liability despite evidence provided (call logs, screenshots of websites). Total sham. Avoid them as an "agency".

Firefly

Hey Rental cars, you have a great website but please do not recommend your customers to Firefly as their dodgy practices have cost me an additional £300 on top of the (what I thought was great value) £160 paid for 10 days Alicante. I'm not a stupid guy but still managed to get stung and it appears that in my stressed parent on holiday state, I have fallen prey. I feel that I'm on a episode of BBC's rogue traders! Anyway, thanks for trying to help and understand that your hands are tied. The only other thing you can do is not to list these cretins on your search results or flag them.....Less holiday more hassle I'm afraid

This service is the worst ever

This service is the worst. First of all you pay for extra insurance they say is not valid at the car rental office at pickup. Next is that the deposit is ONLY possible to pay by a credit from a credit card (not a regular credit card with plain debet functions), and they will charge you two times more on top of what you have already payed, non refundable.. It is obvious by their behavior that this fraud is planned.

Next thing is the cars. They suck big time. Looks like the cars in their stable is leftover cars too bad for anyone to buy. You don’t get the model you reserved.

I advise never to use this company

I advise never to use this company. I paid £207 to rent a car for the week. Due to the flight I had to amend the booking which they took another £245. I cancelled everything and only received back £245. Been trying for a month now to get the other £203 back but to no avail. I feel I have been robbed. I don't think I will ever see this money again. DO NOT USE RENTAL CARS.

FAO Ms Anna Henderson and RC Senior Management

Below is my comment for your feedback email Booking 357653540

The main thing is for you to do is to stop using GOLDCAR. They are
liars and cheats. I say this advisably and precisely as i have already
passed on this case to the full EU complaints system for Spain, to my
MEP, my solicitor, to Halifax Credir Card disputes staff, and to BBC
Watchdog

. Goldcar lied to you , inventing conversations that never happened
regarding their extra insurance. Your customer person Nadia was forced
to try to blame me in one email. You know exactly what they are
like but you defend them.

Your Anna Henderson was very helpful in the end , and refunded me
the £98 pounds i paid to you for full insurance..so in the end YOU are
paying out for Goldcars lies and cheating.
Ann was so helpful and i was so exhausted that i accepted her
financial offer but i would point out the following figures.

AMOUNT charged by Goldcar to my credit card on April 17th DESPITE
being told at the Malaga airport counter THAT NO CHARGES would be put
on the card until i returned the car and it had been checked over.
(LIE number one)

Amount of £217 put on immedcately I left the counter!!

Total refunds £179.50
that is refunds as below..
Goldcar May 3 £67.11
May 18 £14.25
RC May 22 £98.14

Loss to me £38.50

Despite Anna's actions i have turned from a customer who regarded you
as one of the best companies i have ever dealt with...to holding a
view that reflects the FACT that you continue to choose to work with
a company very very widely known as liars and cheats. Incompetence i
can forgive, we all make mistakes, but the systematic cheating of VAST
numbers of customers as practised by GOLDCAR must be stopped . If you
will not stop working with them and announcerthat, i will pursue this
to the legal limit and publicise it to the absolute maximum.
