Don't use this firm is all I can say…

Don't use this firm is all I can say really! We ordered a car via Easirent last Saturday afternoon over the phone for pick up at 5.30 and were advised to take their insurance which we did. When we arrived at the hire firm we were advised that Rental Cars insurance was not valid with them and we would have to pay for their cover too...As it turned out the contract with Easirent was not proceeded with and we tried to phone Rentals Cars whilst still in Easirent's office to cancel the booking but were told by pre recorded message "all our representatives are unavailable, please use our website"....However the website would not allow us to cancel and despite trying to phone 4 times on Sunday it wasn't until Monday that my husband was able to speak to someone. He was told he was "too late to cancel the booking" but after an altercation we were charged only an admin fee of £60.99!! I think they are a shocking company and I would never use them again.

Will not use them agian

Will not use them agian, we have been charged 521 (stolen from our account) from Gold car - we used Rental cars to book and pre-pay, they are not helping what so ever. They claim we drove over 1500 km in two days, we only used the car max 120 km.

Booked a car through them with Interrent. Horrific service from start to finish! Took 2 hours for them to get the booking done, forgot to give us a GPS which we paid for so had to go back, got lost! Con you into paying for a bigger car. They don't know their a***s from their elbows. Had 3 people helping us to get this done :(

We booked through rentalcars.com for a …

We booked through rentalcars.com for a recent trip to California. Upon landing, we were told by the rental car company that they did not have a car for us. We immediately called rentalcars.com who told us to reserve a car with another company and they would reimburse us for the difference. Upset and tired from traveling, we had no other choice. We paid an additional $300 out of pocket to have a car for the week. Once we returned home, I sent in our receipt as we were instructed to do. We received an email from Natasha in Customer Service on July 19 to which we immediately replied. It is now August 4 and we have had ZERO communication from rentalcars.com. I have emailed them several times with NO response - not even an update on the status of our claim. Don't be fooled by the low prices, as the saying goes, you get what you pay for! I assume we will be out the $300 because of their mistake. Shame on us for trusting that they would take care of us. Never using rentalcars.com again. Oh, and we racked up $120 in international phone call charges since they are based in the UK. So really I am out $400 because we chose to book through them - never again!

rental.com

Be aware that the assurance they offer is not linked to the local company where you actually rent the car as I was told by Avis Istanbul. This means that in case of an accident, you will have to pay for the fully damage and only after your return into your home country you can try to get back the money from rentalcars.

Poor experience with them

Poor experience with them. I have booked threw their website to rent a car from BEY airport and paid for my booking. However as my flight got delayed, they booking has been canceled. The car rental agency advised me to pay for a new booking and apply for a refund from Rental cars.

When I contacted Rental for a refund, they refused to do so claiming that I did not adhere the their cancelation policy and hence ended up paying twice for the car booking.

I don't advice anyone to book via car rental and I will not book via their website again.

Dreadful experience - steer well clear!!

I booked in advanced for a client however the whole experience was awful. Firstly the car was not at Liverpool airport as claimed on the website. Our client had to pay an additional £3 to be taken to the car in a car park away from the airport and another £3 to be taken back to the airport after dropping off the car. The company then demanded £1200 deposit before they would allow him to take the car which we were not told about in advance. On returning the vehicle a day later they said there was a scuff on the bonnet that wasn't there previously and 3 intimidating men demanded our client pay £250 or else they would not return the £1200 (this was despite paying extra for full protection!) It took a whole week for our client to be refunded the £1200 deposit (meanwhile they're earning interest on it!!) and we eventually got the £250 refunded. A really bad experience and we will not use this company again or recommend to anyone else. Steer well clear!!

Shockingly dreadful customer service - never again!

We booked an 8 seater mini bus on 7th April with Rental Cars. The pick up was from Enterprise at Edinburgh airport on 14th April for a holiday in Scotland. Credit card details were taken and no mention was made that this was not a confirmed booking. We arrived at the Enterprise desk at about 12.45 and were told that our reservation had been cancelled by Rental Cars. A holiday was about to be ruined. We spoke to someone called Chames (he spelled it like this) at Rental Cars who explained that although our booking had been accepted and credit card details taken Rental Cars got no confirmation from Enterprise. Rental Cars claimed they tried to contact us. Indeed we received the following email as we stood at the Enterprise desk.

Dear ,
Thank you for your recent request to hire a vehicle in Edinburgh
We have tried to contact you via the telephone number you provided on your reservation but we been unable to make contact.
I am writing to let you know that unfortunately the local supplier has been unable to confirm your request. The reason given is that they have fully sold out for the dates and times you have selected. We have been trying to confirm a similar alternative for you with a different Rental Supplier but to no avail.
We therefore are left with no alternative but to cancel your request. No payment was processed as we do not until your reservation is confirmed.
Apologies for all the inconveniences and please call us back for any further inquiries.
Kind Regards,
Sam Burney

The World's Number 1 Online Car Rental Service
The irony of their 'World's Number 1 Online Car Rental Service' is a joke. Also you endorse these people - so you should know what dreadful service they are delivering. I don't imagine I need to explain to you how unacceptable it is to cancel a car for a family depending on it for their holiday on the very day they arrive. There followed phone calls and a series of frustrating conversations with Enterprise blaming Rental Cars and vice versa. Fortunately, when I asked to speak to the Manager of Enterprise he did find us a vehicle - not an automatic as requested but a manual. However, at that stage we were just happy to get a car. There is something very broken in the system. Rental Cars took the booking. Rental cars - this gentleman called 'Chames' was pretty indifferent to the fact that there was no car. The idea that they tried to call us but couldn't get through is highly questionable- we had the phone with us all the time. We run our own business. We are always contactable. I hope some action will be taken as a result of our complaint. We will certainly not be using Rental Cars again. Interestingly, Enterprise didn't seem at all surprised that this had happened which begs the question why they deal with Rental Cars. It also begs the question why you endorse them?

I paid two times for the same rental

I booked a car in Italy Fiumicino in my husband's name Pedro Aguinaldo de Macedo Moura (pick up May 16, 2016 till May 22, 2016), booking reference number 521378494. I paid in advance to Rentalcars US$149.91. At the pick up day, I made an option for a Super Insurance and signed an account of 149,91 euros at the car supplier Noleggiare. When I received the Credit Card bill I see an account of US$406.03. I contacted both the Rentalcars and Noleggiare asking for an explanation and they do not answer at all. So, I DO NOT RECOMMEND RENTALCARS, and I would like to give then zero stars, but the site don't have this option.

Beware of extra hassle and potential charges.

It turns out that Rentalcars are merely an agent working on behalf of certain car rental companies and as such it turns out that you are not insured with the actual rental company from whom you get your car. I was informed by Easirent upon picking up my car that we were not insured with them (even though I had paid the for fully comp insurane with Rentalcars) and as such a maximum of £1250 would be charged to my credit card to cover for any mishaps that may occur. Any preceding claims would then have to be claimed back through Rentalcars. In addition it could take "up to 6 days to return the £1250 should no claims arise". I was not prepared to let them take this money from my card and ended up paying for fully comp insurance with Easirent at an additional cost of £110 for the 4 days hire. I felt that I had been tricked into this extra charge. I felt obliged to pay it to ensure peace of mind. I would not book through Rentalcars ever again and I most certainly will not book with Easirent again.

AVOID Rentalcars

Like many of the other reviews below, my wife and I had a very bad experience with Rentalcars. On holiday in Rome we booked and payed (346,50€) for a car. According to the terms we were to bring “A valid credit card in the main drivers name”. As we picked it up at Locauto (Ciampino Airport) we were told that my mastercard and visa credit card, which both count as credit cards in Denmark, only counts as debit cards in Italy. For this reason we were forced to pay an extra 198€ to Locauto for some kind of insurance. We were four couples at the desk this morning who had this problem. I believe that this shows that what counts as ‘valid credit card’ is rather relative. Communicating with Rentalcars about this it has become clear that they are aware of this general problem, but they refuse to do anything about it (e.g. notify customers in advance during the booking or at least in the general terms). I find this very indecent and can only conclude that since both Rentalcars and Locauto are aware of this they both represent dishonest companies that purposely make their customers pay extra (in this case 198€).

Their customer services have told me that they will reimburse the insuranse we bought through Rentalcars (48,95€) but this has not happened yet. They also tell us that they have done all they could by contacting Locauto (as if they were not aware of the general problem) who are (not surprisingly) unwilling to refund the extra payment. This way of pretending to provide service has thus not helped us, but more importantly, it apparently does not have any consequences in Rentalcars’ partnership with Locauto.

On top of this Locauto informs Rentalcars without any documentation that they have found new damage on the car, but will not charge customer for it. I can only see this as yet another trick from this company. This time to reverse the situation so that we should be grateful not to be charged even more for this rental. However, I am 100% sure that we did not cause any damage and when we delivered the car at Ciampino, Locauto checked it and found no damage. I guess this kind of dishonesty is what you can expect from a cheap Italian car rental company, but it is highly disappointing that Rentalcars are not willing to do anything about it or provide any help for their customers.

My best recommendation is therefore to AVOID Rentalcars and book your car directly at one of the bigger and more honest car rental companies.

Avoid Rentalcars

They withdrew money from my account two days before my departure and there was NO car for me when I landed in Spain. Do Rentalcars care about that? Not the least. Completely unserious company.

No comparison of rentalcaruk.net while hiring a car

Technology has no bounds. I love using it for my convenience. Sometimes you get caught in strange situations. On my last vacation to UK with family, I got frustrated over my booking from a car rental company. Eventually I had to cancel that booking and then hired from rentalcarsUK.net. What a service it was. I had all my doubts cleared and booking confirmed.

Very Helpful Customer Service

On my maiden trip to Uk, I was more excited than ever. A friend of mine had advised me to book a car in advance. I had lot of queries regarding the same. I called the customer support at rentalcarsUK.net. Their supporting staff was polite and extremely helpful. I had my doubts which were cleared quickly. Booking a car helped me tremendously there. It was an awesome experience.
