Thanks for flagging this, and I'm sorry for the confusion. You're right that the numbers didn't match, and I've looked into exactly why.
RentHunter is an aggregator: we don't set prices, we pull listings from external rental portals. For the Trumanlaan property, the source listing showed two figures: a base rent of €1,450 and a total of €2,450 per month including service charges. Our system unfortunately read the base-rent figure instead of the all-in total, which is why you saw €1,450. That's a data error on our side, and we're fixing how we read these listings so the total monthly price shows correctly. I've also corrected this specific listing.
To be clear, there's no intent (or benefit) to us in showing a lower price, the correct €2,450 was right there on the same source page. It was a genuine parsing mistake, not a tactic, and I appreciate you pointing it out so we can get it right. A great tool that could become even better
RentHunter has been a very useful platform for finding rental properties in the Netherlands. The instant alerts are fast, the search filters are helpful, and applying to listings is quick and straightforward.
I do have a few suggestions that I believe would improve the experience:
When a listing is first published, I can see how many applicants there are. It would be very helpful if this information remained visible after applying, so I could always track my position in the queue and see how the number of applicants changes over time.
More transparency about the application process would be greatly appreciated, for example showing whether the landlord is reviewing applications, has started inviting people for viewings, or has already selected candidates.
My profile is set to Employer, but I still receive listings that are only available to students. It would be great if these listings were filtered out automatically.
It would also be very helpful if properties that have already been rented were clearly marked as Rented or automatically removed from my list of applications. At the moment, I only find out that a property has been rented if I open the listing again, which makes it difficult to keep track of active applications.
So far, I have applied for almost 40 properties but have not yet received an invitation for a viewing or a rental offer. I understand that the Dutch housing market is extremely competitive, and this is not necessarily RentHunter's fault. However, having more information about the status of each application would make the process much more transparent and user-friendly.
Overall, RentHunter is a valuable platform, and I believe these improvements would make it even better for users.

This is genuinely useful feedback, Simona, thank you for taking the time to lay it all out. Keeping the applicant count visible after you apply so you can track your position, more clarity on where each application stands, filtering out student-only listings when your profile is set to Employer, and clearly marking places that have already been rented are all real gaps. I'm passing every one of them to our product team.
On the 40 applications without a viewing yet: that's the brutal side of the Dutch market rather than anything you're doing wrong, but the visibility you're describing would at least make the wait less of a black box.

As someone subscribed to all the major housing sites, its awful that a lot of the sites we are redirected to happened to also require subscription fees to apply. Given that we are boxed in to a helpless situation due to the housing crisis, it feels very extortionate.
