Brilliant customer service

Brilliant customer service, needed advice on parts for a gate I had already bought. Even though I didn’t purchase the gate from these Jason was great with suggestions and helpful tips. Delivered earlier than expected. Would happily use again.

Extremely helpful and high quality products

Extremely helpful from the ordering process to installation. Answered all my queries with their online chat portal. Would highly recommend.

We purchased a gate with a custom colour, it came exactly to our speficiation and a high quality finish.

James' installation team was efficient, tidy and very friendly.

Great Service and product

Great Service. Great looking gate. Really easy to install. Slight delay on delivery but great communication so no issues. We had a hinge cap missing when unpacked. I emailed and this was sent the next day. Would highly recommend the product and the company.

Once fitted a good looking gate

It was very easy to order and verify the correct size with the company. The gate was delivered well packed. Whilst it was difficult for my wife and I to install it, as we are both in our mid-70s, small and not very strong, we eventually managed it and are very pleased with the end result. If we had been a few years younger it would have been easy.

My only critism is that 3 of the 4 rawlbolts failed in that the nut ripped the metal tube and so they could not be tightened - they just spun around. I went and bought 4 'real' substantial RawlBolts from Screwfix, which cured the problem - however, it was difficult to extract the failed rawlbolts which wasted 1/2 day. So, look at the supplied rawlbolts and if you have any doubts, don't use them and go and get some proper ones.

Apart from that the gate is very good, better than wood and plastic gates and so I would recommend them.

Missing Items and poor response from Customer Service

Gate arrived with missing screws, so was unable to fit locking mechanism to the gate. Had to leave the gate unsecured until I contacted the company. The screws originally supplied are too short, which made me think the locking mechanism was meant to flush with the gate. This is incorrect, not very clear on the website and instructions are vague and incorrect.

Tried to resolve the issue with the company, however, they are too slow at responding. My husband has took is own initiative and purchased screws himself from Amazon and B&Q.

Really disappointed with the company, when originally, I thought they had really good service. Unfortunately, I would not recommend as we are now out of pocket.

For information on delivery timescales, the company can only chase their supplier and the 5 days lead time can be very inaccurate.

We’d like to offer some clarity regarding the situation and respond to the points raised:

Your initial email regarding the missing and incorrect screws was received on Saturday, 17th May. As our office hours are Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, we were unable to reply over the weekend. Our team responded first thing on the morning of Monday 19th May.
You replied later that evening (outside working hours), and we followed up the next working morning on Tuesday, 20th May by contacting our supplier to arrange for the correct fixings to be sent.
Our supplier confirmed dispatch on Wednesday, 21st May.

We believe our response times were within a reasonable timeframe, we absolutely appreciate your need for a swift resolution and regret that this caused disruption to your plans.

Regarding delivery: Your order was placed on Wednesday, 7th May at 7:48pm. As this was outside our working hours (Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm), the order was picked up for processing the next working day on Thursday, 8th May. The item was delivered on Friday, 16th May, which is six working days after the order was placed. During the time of your order being placed, we advertised approximately five working days from the date of order to expect delivery. Our advertised delivery times can vary depending on the volume of orders being received. We understand your concerns regarding delivery expectations, but we hope this provides some helpful context.

We would be happy to reimburse the cost of the replacement screws you purchased from Amazon & B&Q (2 x M4 25mm and 1 x M4 45mm). Please email us at support@residentialgates.co.uk with your proof of receipt.

Great quality composite gate and customer service

Composite gate is great quality, works well and looks great. After finding missing parts, the customer service has been outstanding. They acknowledged my issue and fast tracked the parts out to me with no hesitation. Very polite and apologetic. Would highly recommend!

2 weeks later and still no gate…

2 weeks later and still no gate delivered that was supposed to take 5 days. Poor communication throughout. It’s no wonder they don’t have a phone number on their website. That should have been a reg flag from the beginning. 6th May today and no gate and having to chase the courier myself who inform me it will be days. Please refund my order and cancel it.

Your order, placed on April 21, was processed promptly. Delivery for standard gate orders typically takes approximately 5 working days. On April 25th, you received a confirmation email containing your tracking number. You can track your order’s status, view all communication, and see delivery updates at https://www.sgkdistribution.co.uk/track-your-order using your tracking code and delivery postal code. After receiving our email confirmation, SGK courier company typically contacts customers to arrange a suitable delivery date and time, handling all logistics and communication from there.

On April 29th at 9:50 AM, we received your email and responded at 10:03 AM to address your concerns and coordinate with our suppliers. After receiving your review on May 3rd, we have investigated further and discovered that SGK courier company experienced a vehicle breakdown on the scheduled delivery day, which can all be found on their website. Prior to your review, we had confirmed the cancellation of your order via email at 10:29AM this morning. This was done to address the unfortunate delivery delay caused by the third-party courier, SGK. A full refund has been processed as a result.

Regarding your enquiry about our lack of a phone number, please note that we are an online-only company. We maintain complete transparency in our operations, and this is a fundamental aspect of our business model. This is clearly evident on our website, where you can find information about our contact details and our company on our “Contact Us” and “About Us” pages. All customers are more than welcome to contact our suppliers directly using their telephone number before or after placing an order.

We take pride in our services and have reviewed our communications to determine that the communication issue was not with us. You also received responses during our out-of-office hours (bank holiday weekend) from us due to the unforeseen delay caused by SGK. Fantastic should have used them years ago !!

Really pleased with our new side gate from Residential Gates. From start to finish, Jason was great to deal with—clear, friendly, and always quick to respond. He guided us through the options, gave a fair and honest price, and checked in after the installation to make sure we were happy.

The gate itself is excellent quality—solid, secure, and looks great. The fitting team I hired did a neat and professional job, and everything was finished on time and to a high standard.

Fantastic service, ordering and gates!

Visited the website and opened a chat with Jason. Gave him the measurements for my 2 gates and he advised that one would be off the shelf but the other needed to be manufactured for a fraction more cost. I paid the same day using their convenient invoicing system. As. I had a bespoke gate I was told that it could be 21 days…which it wasn’t as it was only 14…fantastic. They turned up on time and I fitted today. I couldn’t be happier with the result. Fantastic gates, All of the parts I needed including wall fixings were included. I would highly recommend this company and won’t hesitate to use them again. Thank you.

Purchase with GREAT caution!!

Wow! Where to begin!!?

I’d been researching for a driveway gate for two years and had had some back and forth with RG during that time. Whilst the cost was definitely well above the going rate, the gates displayed on the company website looked solid, slick and secure. Also, all of my Qs were answered swiftly and informatively by RG.

I finally placed my order in December 2024 and to my huge disappointment the gates were too small for the ‘bespoke’ measurements I’d provided. I went back over all of my comms and measurements and struggled to understand how this could have happened. Still do.

When I reached out to RG there was no acknowledgment or accountability for the mistake, but I was entirely to blame … still trying to wrap my head around that one!

In addition and because this ‘too small “bespoke” gate’ could not be repurposed I was told that there was no refund, return or exchange possible.
So my only option was to buy another gate and hope that the size would be right second time round!!!

I should add at this point that I was also disappointed with the flimsiness of the gate and the lack of robustness that had been clearly miss sold by the photos on the company’s website.

I should have just moved on and moved away from RS at this point!

So I ordered another gate, the additional cost of the lock and fitting included, and then had to find someone to install the gate … would you buy windows and then have someone else fit them - NO! Again, I did not heed common sense.

New posts had to be installed so that the gates could hang properly though they still sag in the centre. After several call outs we eventually got it right but with all the swinging in the wind we also had to purchase and have installed a dead bolt.

A few weeks on and now the gate lock has given up the ghost so we can’t even lock the gate. An expert locksmith came round and asked “which cowboys installed the lock”? I was embarrassed to have to reply that it was the manufacturer!
An utter bodge job! Fortunately I could use the lock from the original gate and refit.

So 3 months on, 2 gates down and well over £3k down the drain, I am still trying to ‘make do’ with what is not fit for purpose, not secure, doesn’t work and now doesn’t even look good.

My lesson learned: NEVER purchase from a manufacture who will not install their own product.

Purchase with GREAT caution!!

Stunning premium product.

Everything about this worked perfectly for us. From the clear informative website to the final product and finish. The customer service was outstanding, coming back to me quickly as I needed a slightly more bespoke approach. They were able to suggest an easy solution and ensured that the product guarantee remained valid via a covering email. The fitting and fixing was straightforward enough for a competent DIYer like me to do and it simply looks stunning. It really has a premium look and feel from the solid smooth hinges to the secure closure and locking action. We would thoroughly recommend this company to anyone.

Look great but not fit for purpose

Purchased a set of driveway gates and not going to lie they look really good. However, they are flimsy, light and a huge waste of money.

For £2k I really expected better quality. The middle of the gates has loads of movement, solved some of his with a deadbolt, should come with one of these but they charge extra (£65 to be exact haha).

You have to cut the posts to height with an angle grinder, not really something you should have to do for the price of the 'bespoke' product. After cutting, it needs some touch up paint, yet again none supplied but you can buy for extra money!

The lower spigots should be able to be post mounted as you need to make sure your driveway is completely level otherwise. Floor mounted spigots is a terrible idea.

So in conclusion, I have shelled out £2000 for gates that look decent but will probably only last 5 years I'd say and not much help home security wise with the amount of movement and flimsiness of them.

Gate Stability: We noted from our records that your order included only the factory-fitted handle set. For optimal stability and security, we recommend adding Locinox lockable drop bolts with the compatible Locinox ground gate stop. These items are not included as standard to accommodate customers who choose to have their gates automated.

Installation and Posts: Considering your gate height is 1800mm and you ordered 2400mm height posts, not using the floor-mounted (spigot) hinges would lead to stability issues due to the weight of the gates being supported only by the post’s base plate. Our driveway gates can alternatively be installed between aluminium posts without the floor-mounted spigot hinges. This method requires concreting the aluminium posts into the ground for proper support and stability. For this installation, 3000mm length posts are recommended, allowing a minimum of 500mm to be sunken into the ground, which provides sufficient post height to securely mount your gates. Great product Poor comms.

I have recently bought two gates, both great products and well engineered. I needed to check the delivery date of the first gate and was unable to contact the company! They don’t publish a phone number and their chat bot was playing up! They got back to me eventually, but I felt the inability to speak to the company was awful, I nearly cancelled as a result.
The delivery team were exceptional.

WILL NOT RECOMMEND AVIOD

ordered a gate from these paid over £400 only to find out after unpacking it they only drill them for disable people in wheelchairs my gate is 2000mm high and they put the handle 940mm from the bottom to the handle and 1005mm from the top to the handle which looks absolutely stupid and wrong told the company and basically told me tough there attitude is they are right and wont do anything to correct it they got there money and washed there hands of it no tell number so you cant speak to them email takes for ever and when they did finally respond all I got was it so disabled people can open it sorry but I'm not a commercial property its for my own house but they was not interested they didn't even want to help me with a solution even though I gave them 3 different ideas but they said they wont there customer services are so bad its laughable if I was told or knew that they only make all there gates with handle so stupidly low I would never of used them I feel cheated conned and offended I now have a gate that is an embarrassment to even think about using so be aware there are plenty of proper well run company's that do a far superior job than this awful place I hope your proud of yourselves
