Sent another card

My card had expired so I called them (after reading reviews on here) and they are sending a new card out in the post to be valid for another 12 months, no questions asked.

Expiring Gift Card Replaced

Had a gift card due to expire this month, hadn't been able to use due to the lockdown. Gave them a call on 0330 123 3471 and they sorted it within minutes - posting me a new card which will be valid for 12 months. They said they can do this if the card expired during lockdown, or is due to expire within a month.

I panicked because I realised my card…

I panicked because I realised my card had expired in September and haven’t had chance to use it this year with the pandemic! I phoned the number on the website and it was sorted straight away, a new card is being sent to me within the next five weeks with my original balance and another 12 months to use. I’ve seen some reviews on here of people having emails ignored so I would advise you to call them instead :)

No way to get extension for the card…

No way to get extension for the card expiry date. We tried with the company email but no answer from them. Not even an extension resigning to the 50% of the value. How can a company keep this attitude during the Coronavirus crisis? I can't recommend it at all.

make the call

As we know gift cards for restaurants to use in covid times isn't how we planned as I am clinically vulnerable so like many haven't had the opportunity yet to actually spend in any restaurant for that reason so now it has expired and 25.00 is alot to lose nowadays.I called customer services just now to explain and spoke to a very kind understanding gent called Miguel. He has sent me confirmation by email that in 4-5 wks I will receive a new card valid for 12 months and 25.00 so I am very happy. So please make that call good luck keep safe

This gift card was given to me by my…Disabled Son

This gift card was given to me by my disabled son. Due to illness and then lockdown it has passed the "12 month validity" - I have emailed three times without any response. I asked where the £25 the voucher cost has gone? No response. I wish I could leave "0" as a rating. A modern day thief. Do not purchase from this company.

I was given one of these as a gift

I was given one of these as a gift, living in Australia. I can't find anywhere in Aus to give a review, so here I am. Don't give one of these to your friends, not if you really think they are your friends. Put the cash in a card and wish them to have a good night out instead. Australia is a big place so unless you live in a capital city, you'll be lucky to find a restaurant in which to use the card. With a three year expiry, we'll be lucky to ever be near anywhere where there'll be a choice to use it, if anywhere at all. Again, don't load one of these on your family members or friends.

If I could give zero i would

If I could give zero i would, when someone buys you a gift with their hard earned money, how on earth can that expire. It's just another way of trying to con money out of people. I used it in Nandos only to be told it wasn't working, now with covid and other personal issues it's run out. What an absolute rip off. DO NOT buy someone you care about this gift card. They should be investigated.

Pleasantly Surprised

they must have taken all these negative reviews onboard as I phoned about card that expired during lockdown, got through quite quickly and without prompting they offered to send replacement card with full balance that will be valid for a year. still think 1 year lifespan of card is a joke but can't fault how they have dealt with me on this occasion.

Abysmal company

Abysmal company. Thankfully though I think people are realising this.
Together we can drive this company out of existence.
Any company who doesn't extend vouchers when clearly Covid would impact the validity speaks volumes about what they think of the public.

Never ever buy anything from this group. I'd also suggest writing to each participating restaurant to complain and also I would suggest making news outlets aware of the sheer greed this firm is displaying.

I get one if these useless cards from…

I get one if these useless cards from my equally useless company every year. They know nobody likes them but still issue them, I can only assume they get a massive discount for bulk buying them. Knowing them, probably some tax dodge. The choice of restaurants is very limited. Some of them have shut down, and the ones that are still operating are overpriced, poor quality and wide spread. Last year I purposely had to drive a 40 mile round trip to the nearest pizza hut (Halifax) to use it. The food was awful and although it had only cost me a few quid in fuel, I still felt ripped off. This year's card just arrived in the post, so now I am yet again forced to use it, just so this shady company doesn't gain from another expired card. This seems to be the basis of their business model. They will gain a bit from the participating restaurants, say £20 worth of voucher credit for £15, but their main income will be from people letting them expire (and it is a real effort to find somewhere worth using them). I just received mine and have 4 months to use it, it has to be dine in, all the places I can use it are awful and I don't want to be adding any money at all to meet the bill. Wish I could just bin it.

I echo others who got no response

An update on my review below: Having had no reply to two messages sent via the website I rang and quickly got through to some one who was very helpful and agreed to send me a new card valid for a full 12 months equal in value to my unused card. Can't complain about that, but it's still a pity that I got no response to my messages and there is no mention on their website of what to do if you have a card that is due to expire, so won't be improving my rating.
My original review:
I echo the others on here who have had no luck contacting Restaurant Choice. I've sent two messages via their website, one on 25 July and again on 4 August. Following submission the website indicates they will respond within 1-2 working days but I've heard nothing. I did get through to someone on the phone a few weeks before sending my first message, but they were clueless as to whether any extension on cards would be offered due to the lockdown. Their website has a "Latest information on our response to Coronavirus" page but this is almost entirely for the benefit of their staff and not for customers who are paying their wages. Frankly, their customer service is very, very poor. I will avoid using them in the future. Cards like this should only be attractive if they give a discount on the cost of a meal. Otherwise cash is a better option as it never goes out of date and can be used anywhere!

Complete silence to any and all…

Complete silence to any and all enquiries. They're more than happy to take your money, but if you have any issues, they just don't respond to you. Given there's a global pandemic, you would assume they would give out partial refunds, or honour your voucher for longer, but no. They just bury their head in the sand. The type of company that this pandemic will thankfully put out of business. Shocking.

Not terrible but could be better

I always check reviews before buying (or using) anything so when I saw the reviews for these gift cards I was very disheartened and worried constantly throughout our meal that the cards we’d been given wouldn’t actually work (as in previous reviews) but we were lucky and ours actually did work fine (pizza express). I just wanted to post this incase anyone else is reading all the reviews and panicking, sometimes the cards do work, although that doesn’t distract from the fact that some people here seem to have been treated appallingly and are quite rightly furious, as I would be. I’m docking a couple of stars because when I asked for an extension due to Covid they said no, with my card expiring 5th August, it was quite a struggle to find anywhere we could dine in and use them that was open near us! Good luck to everyone struggling with this company, their customer service clearly needs some work.

Used website 'contact us' page form three times towards end of June/early July as card was due to expire. Voucher now expired. £15 out of pocket.

Give cash not vouchers- ripped off

I had the same problem as many others. My card has recently expired, I have not been able to use during lockdown. Restaurant Choice to not answer heir phone or return email messages. Feel ripped off. Give cash not vouchers for a worthwhile gift choice.

My card expired during lockdown

My card expired during lockdown so I could not use it at all as not available on takeaway and the restaurants were closed. Asked about an extension but just told no card expired. My card expired in May.Not happy.
