Selling our sailing dinghy on Apollo Duck and had a text inquiry. The 'buyer' requested a ridesaudit be done, and I arranged a viewing. I realised this is a scam and informed the credit card company – avoid. The report was delivered, and I haven't opened it in case it's infected and would trust the credibility of it.
definitely an AI assisted scam targeting boat for sale ads. Sadly i fell for it and am now £65 out of pocket; dont be like me no matter how interested the potential buyer is, it should be them paying for surveys etc.
Apolloduck dinghy sale. Buyer insists on using this service. No possibility of anyone or any site like this finding info from dinghy sail number. Buyer feels like a ai repeating wierd text and phrases. No. Idea how being cajoled into using the site is a scam but definitely feels like it.
Was selling my boat on Apollo Duck sales channel in the UK and a potential buyer, who I now believe to be AI led me to believe they were very interested even arranging a viewing, then at the last minute insisted that I pay for a boat Hull check on the ridesaudit site. When I asked if they should be the ones doing that (as buyer) they said that they would refund me if they bought the boat. After I called them out on that strange request, I just got some very "AI" sounding responses... not the kind of thing a person would usually say.
