Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 115 reviews, most reviewers were unhappy with their experience overall. Consumers frequently encountered unexpected expenses, including mandatory insurance fees despite having their own coverage, large security deposits, and various hidden charges upon arrival at the rental office. Additionally, people struggled with inconvenient off-site locations far away from the main airport terminals and experienced significant communication issues when trying to reach customer support. Some reviewers were happy with specific staff members who provided welcoming, friendly, and accommodating service during their visits. Others also appreciated the nice vehicles provided and enjoyed completely smooth pickup experiences without major issues at certain locations.

RENTERS BEWARE

RENTERS BEWARE

I rented a vehicle from Right Cars from September 28–30, and the experience was unacceptable from beginning to end.

Misleading pickup instructions: We were told to go to stations 34–36 at ground transportation level A or B. Those stations exist in Terminal A, but in Terminal B the pickup point is actually 86. We walked from 90 to 50 searching for the listed stations, had to call Right Cars, and were then told to walk all the way back to 86 in the Orlando heat and humidity. This confusion was entirely due to inaccurate instructions.

Lack of transparent pricing: I paid a $14 booking fee through Expedia, yet the actual rental charges were not disclosed until I arrived at the Right Cars location. Once there, I had to connect with a virtual assistant, and the verification process for my driver’s license, credit card, and insurance was slow and inefficient.

Unfulfilled discount promise: On September 29, Mauricio contacted me about my rental. Later that day, Karoll offered a 15% discount if I left a favorable review on Expedia. When I checked my credit card statement, the discount had not been applied. I sent follow‑up messages on October 3 and 4 with no response. When I called, Ver instructed me to send an email — which also went unanswered.

Overall, this rental was disorganized, misleading, and unprofessional. Clear communication, transparent pricing, and honoring the promised 15% discount would have made a meaningful difference. Based on this experience, I will not be using this company again.

Forced to pay more than twice the agreed upon amount

I hired a car through car jet where the provider was right cars. The booking I made already included no-excess insurance. When I got to right cars to pick up the car, they insisted I had to pay more than the value of the rental itself for their own premium no-excess insurance. I told them I did not want/need this insurance because I already paid for insurance through car jet. They refused to let me have the car without it, saying the only way I could have what I already booked was if I used a credit card. I only have a debit card so this was a large issue for me and was not at all outlined in the booking form. I said they could just take the deposit from my debit card, they refused. I asked if they could use the credit card from my friend who I was hiring the car with, they said no it must be in the main drivers name. I said could we make my friend the main driver and me the secondary driver then, they said no they would not do it. They really would not help me at all to look for any alternative to this surprise issue I have never faced before with any car hire company. The worker dealing with me was also extremely rude and dismissive and told me I was stupid for not knowing about the credit card requirement, yet he would not consider any solutions. I was scammed out of several hundred euros and am still extremely upset by the lack of help and compassion shown to me. Never will I ever recommend or rent with right cars again.

Worst company ever to rent a car

Worst company ever to rent a car. Try something else. Hidden fees for insurance upon arrival. Terms and policy not clear and when they explain them they use different terms. At the end, your rental will cost you double or almost triple what you have booked

I've been renting cars in Cyprus for…

I've been renting cars in Cyprus for about 4 years, and this was by far the worst experience.

I booked a car for 4 days and paid in full upfront. At pickup, I mentioned I might return it a day early. I didn't ask for a refund for the unused day, yet the manager said I'd be charged an extra €25 for returning early. I've never seen this anywhere else.

The car was in poor condition: the steering wheel was badly worn and torn, and the gearbox jerked the whole time.

Not recommended.

Don’t waste time renting from this…

Don’t waste time renting from this company! They have two different names Right cars and York car rental. Customer service is rude and they charge additional fees. If you show proof of insurance, they still charge $50, then they want a $350 deposit to hold in case the car is damaged. The rental company is not located at the airport, but a park and ride. There is not a person present, you must use a monitor to communicate with customer service.

Avoid Right Cars Crete

Be careful when booking with Right Cars at Heraklion Airport. Our experience was very disappointing.

We had already paid around €400 for the rental and €100 for insurance. When we arrived, they told us that the name of the main driver didn’t match the booking. All other documents were fine and we had sufficient funds available.

Instead of simply fixing this administrative issue, they told us we could only get the car if we paid another €400 for insurance.

The staff were extremely unfriendly and unhelpful and made no effort to find a reasonable solution. It really felt like they were trying to make extra money from us because we were already at the airport.

We decided to leave and rented a car from another company instead, without any problems.

Very disappointing experience and a terrible way to start your holiday. We definitely won’t be using Right Cars again.

RENTAL SCAM COMPANY!

RENTAL SCAM COMPANY!
I had a prepaid reservation with Right Cars
Global Rentals at Fort Lauderdale Airport. When I arrived, they told me the price would be much higher than what I paid online (about $114 prepaid, but they said it would be about $262 at the counter). They also told me I could not drive the car out of state, which wasn’t acceptable for my trip. Because of the unexpected price increase and the out-of-state restriction, I did not pick up the vehicle. Very disappointing experience and a waste of time.

Terrible company

Terrible company. Arrived with passport, driver’s license, rental voucher and Credit card with more than the excess required on the agreement voucher. They refused to provide the car. Said the Ryanair rental agreement was wrong and we would have to pay a much higher deposit than the agreement stated. They said we would have to pay about 450 euro more to receive our car which we already paid for in advance! Very unhelpful and rude. We left and rented an alternative car easily from another company. They refused to refund and it took 3 months to reclaim our money through Visa!!

We booked a VW Golf for 13 days

We booked a VW Golf for 13 days. When we arrived, they suddenly demanded an extra €580 that was never mentioned at booking. And instead of the Golf, they handed us a beat-up Citroën C3.

On top of that, the young tattooed guy at the front desk was extremely rude, dismissive, and made zero effort to fix the situation.

Hidden fees, a car that didn't match our booking, and terrible customer service: this looks a lot like a scam. I do not recommend Right Cars. Save yourself the trouble and rent elsewhere.

DO NOT USE

DO NOT USE. Would give zero stars if I could. My parents rented a car through this company, via Easyjet, and they refused to give us the car once we arrived at Chania Airport in Crete, simply because the card name was in a slightly different format, as is typical for many people. This is despite payment having been made and having all the relevant booking details and documents. We will claim this back and also the money for the taxis that we had to book in the meantime but if you want to avoid hassle then just avoid this company from the get-go. The 2 men "working" there were particularly unhelpful and belligerent, and perfectly fine with what is essentially theft. Use a different company if you actually want to get what was paid for, and not have to deal with morons on the way.

We booked through Priceline and were deeply disappointed!! SCAM!!

We booked through Priceline and were hit with an unexpected ~$400 insurance charge at pickup. After pushing back, they reduced it to ~$320.

When we asked for time to think, we were told we could be charged an additional $200 cancellation fee if we didn’t decide immediately.

The whole experience felt very high-pressure and the actual cost was far from what we expected when booking. I would not rent from Right Cars again.

Absolutely the worst experience I have…DO NOT BOOK HERE

Absolutely the worst experience I have ever had in my entire life renting a car. The location is far away from the airport; it's a long shuttle ride there with no a/c. You dont even see a real person when you get your car. It is someone on a video. There are tons and tons of hidden fees which nearly tripled my rental fees. They trap you as it is so far from any other rental place you have no choices. They make it mandatory to pay for a transponder whether you use it or not and try to tell you its a deal to pay $20 usd extra per day for unlimited tolls. They will not accept any rental insurance outside of the USA, even if booked under your travel credit card. Something is not right; this is a total scam. And the car is nasty, in rough shape. I will be fighting this when i get home

I had a terrible experience

I had a terrible experience, in particular with an employee of the Crete office. His name is Ilias, and he was rude from the very start, from the moment I picked up the car. But what he did when I returned the car was outright a scam — I was on the verge of calling the police.

You should really thank your most experienced employee. I asked to speak with him because Ilias was a total jerk from the beginning. When I walked into the office at 7 a.m., I was the first to say “hello, good morning” with a smile, even though I’d been driving since 4:30 that morning to get to the airport. Ilias didn’t respond, and from the look on his face I immediately understood his attitude.

For example, the other employees asked customers to accompany them for the car inspection, but Ilias told me to stay in the office while he went out alone. When he came back, the first thing he said was, “Antenna’s missing, huh?” Then he checked the paperwork and realized he’d never noted anything about the antenna — so if it was missing, it must have been my fault. Luckily, I had photos proving it was already missing when I picked up the car.

At that point I started to feel very uncomfortable, like I was being scammed — especially when he told me I’d have to pay a 90-euro penalty because the fuel level wasn’t the same as when I’d picked up the car. In fact, it was higher than when I got it, but this time I couldn’t prove it because the photo was on my wife’s phone.

He could see I was getting anxious because I was about to miss my flight — with two young children in tow — and that’s when he said, “You have two options: either go to the gas station and put in five or ten euros of fuel, or pay a 90-euro penalty.” He knew I was about to miss my flight and did this on purpose.

At that moment, the right thing to do would have been to call the police, but I didn’t have time. Thankfully, the most experienced employee — whose name I don’t know, but who I’m very grateful to for his good sense — stepped in. His attitude was the complete opposite of Ilias’s, who was clearly trying to scam me. Did Ilias think I didn’t see through his little game? He wanted to collect the 90-euro “penalty,” then go clean the car, put in five euros of fuel, and pocket the remaining 85.

This kind of behavior damages the reputation of the rental office. I’m going to leave reviews everywhere about what happened. Ilias nearly scammed me and made me risk missing my flight with two small children. Honestly, I hope he loses his job. I’ll be posting this on Google and TripAdvisor. Thanks for nothing, Ilias — you wasted so much of my time.

Very disappointing experience

Very disappointing experience with Right Cars Chania

Think twice before booking Right Cars Global Rentals – Chania Station, especially if the booking is made through an intermediary recommended by Ryanair.

We prepaid €274 for a car with full insurance included. At the rental desk, however, we were told that the insurance did not apply because we had booked through an intermediary and that we needed to purchase another full insurance policy. This resulted in substantial additional costs. If the insurance conditions are different when booking through a partner, this should be made absolutely clear BEFORE the customer pays. Our flight was delayed by 1.5 hours, but we still arrived within the company's working hours. Despite the car being prepaid, the staff made a major issue of the delay. The attitude was rude and unhelpful, and we spent around one hour at the office dealing with paperwork and additional payments. We were travelling with a young child, which made the situation even more stressful. We had deliberately booked a daytime flight because we were travelling with our child, but because of the delay and the problems at the rental office, we reached our hotel around 11 p.m. exhausted, hungry and extremely frustrated. During our holiday, we visited Balos, which is apparently on their prohibited-location list. We subsequently received an SMS regarding a penalty.
At the return, we again experienced disrespectful treatment. We were told that the penalty had supposedly not yet been charged and that we had to pay it, but the staff could not provide evidence proving that the charge was actually due or had not already been processed. The situation took so long that we were worried about missing our flight.

In the end, our rental cost approximately €550 instead of the original €274.

We have rented cars many times and have never experienced anything like this. The combination of unclear insurance conditions, unexpected additional costs, poor customer service and the way the return was handled was extremely disappointing. I am posting this review so that other travellers, particularly families, can be aware of our experience before booking. I also believe Ryanair should carefully review the partners it recommends to its customers.

Rip off warning

I got 14 days car hire with this company through Rent-Cars for €650. I Turned up to find they were situated a 5 minute walk from the terminal, which wasn’t a massive problem. They insisted that my insurance, that was purchased through the same website as the car hire, wasn’t good enough. So I had to purchase their own insurance at a cost of over €450. Plus a €100 euro deposit in cash. Upon return they took my €100 deposit as had a small amount of sand in the car, which is a joke, as the island is very dusty. All in all for 14 days car hire it cost over €1200 euros. Complete scam beware!!

This is the worst car rental experience…

This is the worst car rental experience I have ever had. They are completely unprofessional and dishonest. To begin with, it took ages just to collect the car at the pickup counter.
The vehicle we received was already old, heavily worn, and covered in scratches from before. Despite the fact that we had full insurance, they managed to "scam" us out of €350 upon return.
When we brought the car back, the staff went out with the sole intention of hunting down any tiny fault just to extract more money from us. They pointed out a minor scratch that we hadn’t managed to capture on video or photo the day we rented it. Instead of acknowledging the pre-existing poor state of the car, they used this to rob us of €350.
Save your money, your time, and your sanity. Avoid this car rental company at all costs!

Worse rental experience

There are NO physical live human beings on site to assist. No matter if you have a credit card or great credit, they want either a $1000 or $700 security hold. It is off site from the airport so it is difficult to get back to the airport. The car was DISGUSTING and probably NEVER been cleaned . They did not have a current or valid inspection sticker on license plate. DO NOT USE

They talked about us

We didn’t get the car we booked en wasn’t similar. There were very rude with the pick-up, they were talking about us and sighing during the process. Also you have to pay more than a 100 euros to get insurance what is not told in advance. We don’t know her name of the lady who helped us, she looked a bit like this but without the glasses. It was not a nice experience and we felt really uncomfortable.
