I would give them less stars if I…

I would give them less stars if I could. This rental company is very sketchy. They said there would be a shuttle at the airport, but there wasn’t. When I called to find out where it was, the option to speak to an agent leads you to a voicemail that may not even be a voicemail. When I saw that the deposit for the car was $2000, I cancelled the reservation and did not receive a refund. It doesn’t get sketchier than this.

Absolutely appalling

Absolutely appalling.

Booked through opodo.com as they showed they had good rating.

The car was damaged and dirty.

Was charged £540 deposit and it is still has not been returned. The guy is also now ignoring my WhatsApp messages asking where my money is.

He also did not help with any bags, nor did he give clear directions for pick up.

I'm now going through my credit card company as a chargeback.

AVOID.

Right Cars and OPODO.co.uk not returning deposit

I rented a car via Opodo.co.uk platform from the local supplier Right Cars in for 4 days. Right Cars demanded a Card Payment of 650EUR as deposit which suppose to be repaid after 28 days of returning the car. The car was returned on 19th September without any issues and it is nearing 90days with no repayment has been done. Right Cars are not returning emails, SMS/WhatsApp messages or Phone calls. OPODO.co.uk is also not helpful to resolve the issue with thier supplier. I will have to go to the local court as next step which is frustrating

Bad bad bad bad!!!!!

Bad bad bad bad!!!!!! This is the worst rental in this side of the world. That's why it is very cheap. Guys don't waste your time and money. The customer services is the second bad things but the hidden $$$ is the first. Once you call customer services they act like you are a criminal. Guys is better to stay away from this.

⚠️ WARNING – Deposit Scam ⚠️

⚠️ WARNING – Right Cars Antalya (via Holiday Autos) kept my €900 deposit and never refunded it.
Car rented 17 May 2025, returned 1 June 2025 in perfect condition. They promised refund in 28 working days. Despite sending all documents and contacting them many times, they ignored all calls, emails, and texts.
Reviews show many others had the same problem – deposits not returned.

⚠️ Avoid this company – they will take your money and not give it back.

This rental car services is a scam

This rental car services is a scam! We were charged extra rental fee upon pick up. The car was not clean and full of exterior scratches. It was not a full size vehicle that we requested. The second day of the rental the car did not start and we contacted the phone number on the key and it did not appear to be a business representative. We were told that we were responsible for road side assistance. DO NOT SELECT THIS RENTAL SERVICE FOR BOOKING THROUGH THIRD PARTIES.

Car hire went horribly wrong.
I hired a car through Planet Rental Cars from Izmir airport. There was nobody to pick us up from Izmir airport to take us to their car pool. We waited. Nobody showed up. We called. But no one picked up the call. We even got a Turkish person with a Turkish mobile to call the office. But still no answer. Planet Rental Cars has refused to refund the money I paid saying my call log shows the calls were cancelled, not understanding when the calls were not answered, it shows as cancelled.
In the end, we had to make another arrangement to hire another car on the spot at the airport. That cost a lot more money and I had to pay in cash.
It caused so much stress and exhaustion, which cast a shadow over our entire holiday.

No refund, actually full refund

Booked a 5-day rental (Nov 23–28, 2025) at Orlando International Airport (MCO) through CarRental8. Paid in full weeks in advance.
Arrived at the Willy Park / Right Cars counter (the actual supplier). Everything is automated kiosks – no real staff on site. Because I’m not a US citizen, they insisted on extra insurance. Their remote manager personally verified my Mastercard over the phone and, because the card was accepted as valid, lowered the insurance to “only” $25/day (instead of the usual $40+ they try to force on foreigners). I also agreed to the $500 security deposit and signed everything.
Minutes later, the exact same Mastercard that their manager had just verified and approved could not be charged. The system failed repeatedly. They rebooted the terminal FIVE times over 30+ minutes – still nothing.
I immediately offered my US debit card – refused, because “it has to be a credit card.”
I had plenty of cash on me – they said there is no way to accept cash.
After almost an hour of this nonsense, no keys were ever handed over, no contract was completed, and I never drove the car for even one second.
Contacted CarRental8 the same day asking for a full refund. Their reply: “No refund – this is considered a refused rental.” They are hiding behind the supplier and refuse to return a single dollar, even though they were the ones who originally charged my card.
Thanks to this experience I discovered Uber for the first time – cheaper, faster, and zero stress compared to this disaster.

At the end Carrental8 made a full refund. I’m happy to report that they agreed, there was no fault of mine and issued the refund. I will continue renting with them but will be more prepared for situations like that.

Scammers don’t rent from them

I rented from this company through my Chase Bank travel site thinking it would be safe to do so. When we picked it up from Izmir Airport ( no stand inside, someone picked us up from front of the building to take us offsite place) They charged us $1010 for deposit assuring us it would be returned within 45 days after we turned in the car. Paperwork showed that. We returned the vehicle no problems 2 years passed after many unreturned calls, bunch of excuses. We hired a lawyer and just yesterday they returned our deposit, of course it was $200 less because TL wasn’t worth as much now. They are SCAMMERS DO NOT rent from them.

AVOID THEM - fees are out of control

Paid via Travelocity and when I went to pick up vehicle I had another $170 in fees to pay. At that point, what do you do? All other rental companies are sold out and I’m left no way back to the airport. This was truly bait and switch. The car was filthy and smelt of perfume so bad we had to drive with windows down.

Zero stars. Run- don’t even consider this place. This place is a joke. I made reservations out of Orlando online and paid online. Once I got to the counter- no one were there. You talk to someone via Skype. There are a ton of hidden fees. I cancelled my rental with this joke of a place before the transaction was complete. The company was going to charge $25 per toll and fee although I have my own Sunpass issued by the state of FL. RUN- Run quick to someone else. I went back to the airport and rented from Avis.

Deposit Scam, Do Not Rent Here

I rented a car from this company for a trip to Izmir from October 2–4, and it turned into one of the worst rental experiences I’ve ever had. Since I declined their insurance option and was a foreign driver, they charged me a massive 40,000 TRY deposit (around $966 USD).

They promised the deposit would be refunded within 30 days after returning the car. It has now been over a month, and I still have not received a single cent back.

At first, they replied over WhatsApp and claimed the refund was being processed. Then, they stopped responding entirely. Every call and message after that was ignored.

This company is dishonest, unprofessional, and preys on tourists.
Avoid this car rental at all costs.

CANCEL THIS COMPANY IN ANTALYA

We arrived at the airport at 9:30 PM but there was no one waiting for us. I started contacting them but no one answered after an hour. Finally, someone answered and told me we had to wait about an hour because our car wasn't ready. After almost 2 hours of waiting, I called the company again and they came to pick us up after 30 minutes. We arrived at their office and started the process, and they told me I had to pay for insurance. I refused because I already had another insurance policy. They asked me for my credit card for the deposit, but according to the operator, my card didn't work. We tried with three other credit cards, but it still didn't work. At that point, I began to realize that a scam was underway. They offered me insurance again for a total of 300 euros, which meant I wouldn't have to pay the deposit. It was 2 AM and I only had my credit cards and no cash. Tired of the situation, I agreed to pay the insurance and, magically, the credit card worked. In the end, my rental cost 300 euros more with a completely dirty car. It looked like they'd just unloaded the watermelons and eaten them, leaving the remains in the car. Furthermore, the tank was empty and we were lucky enough to find a gas station open at 2:30 in the morning. CANCEL THIS COMPANY IN ANTALYA.

🚫 Terrible Experience – Right Cars Dominican Republic

My experience with Right Cars in the Dominican Republic was extremely traumatic and disappointing. If I were to describe everything in detail, this review would be far too long—but I’ll summarize the main issues so others can avoid going through the same.

1️⃣ Misleading pricing: They advertise very low rental rates but never mention the extremely high insurance cost. I was charged USD 46 per day for insurance—which made absolutely no sense since the car itself cost less than half of that.

2️⃣ Wrong vehicle: I booked a Hyundai Cantus Compact or similar but was given a tiny, unknown Chinese brand that looked nothing like what I reserved.

3️⃣ Excessive deposit: They tried to hold USD 2,000 “just in case” without providing a clear reason.

4️⃣ Illegal passport retention: They kept my U.S. passport during the entire rental period—something that is absolutely illegal and unacceptable.

5️⃣ Wasted time and lack of transparency: We spent almost four hours at the counter trying to find a solution regarding the insurance. After comparing with other rental companies, we found the average insurance rate was around USD 16 per day, yet we still ended up paying USD 26 daily, which was still excessive.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was filled with deceptive practices, poor customer service, and unethical behavior. My sincere advice: rent from a well-known, reputable company where prices are clear and you won’t be surprised with hidden charges or unfair treatment.
