Crap system

I bought a Ring camera for £60 and honestly regret it. The setup process is a nightmare. The app keeps sending “verification text messages” that never arrive, no matter how many times you try. Because of this, you can’t create an account, you can’t continue setup, and after several failed attempts the app just locks you out for 24 hours.

I don’t have time to waste fighting with a badly-made app. A security product should work, not force you to wait a full day because of a developer’s poor design. Absolutely unacceptable for something that’s supposed to be simple and user-friendly. Avoid unless you enjoy being stuck with a camera you can’t even set up.

Feature removal & subscription creep — switching to Eufy

After buying the Ring doorbell, I’m really disappointed with how many features have been removed or pushed behind subscriptions. Many of the seasonal quick replies have disappeared entirely, and the fun options that made Ring special are just gone.
more features seem to require a paid tier, even after already paying for the hardware. Customer support is difficult to contact and not transparent. Battery life is not good, struggles to pick up on wifi signal and often drops out and cannot view anything which isn’t live without the subscription which is increasing constantly.
I’m switching to Eufy, which offers better functionality without subscriptions and without removing features I’ve already paid for.
Ring has gone downhill — very poor value now.

Ordered Ring Camera's in November, never delivered

Ordered Ring Camera's in November. Still waiting for delivery from GLS couriers (apparently) in December.
The BOT was useless, customer service is an oxymoron, They just want rid of you. Asked for a refund, no, you have to wait for delivery, no delivery.
I would have been much better off going to their parent company "Prime" and would have received the paid for items in 48 hrs.

Notification takes far too long.

The ring door bell takes far too long to notify you on your mobile that someone is ag your door. Have been at home when Postman rang doorbell and the chime unit responded straight away. However, notification to my mobile took a further minute or more to respond, so if Im not at home, the time to get the alert is far too long and anyone at the door will have gone. This was proved by the fact I spoke to the Postman, signed for a parcel and he had gone to his van with me sitting back down in my lounge before the notification landed. Is this because the notification is sent to the Ring servers (possibly in California) before bouncing all the way back around the earth to the UK? Not good.

Ongoing Technical Failures and Lack of Support

I am writing to formally express my dissatisfaction with your company and the way ongoing technical and connection issues have been handled.

I have repeatedly contacted customer support regarding my Ring Outdoor Security Camera, which from the very beginning has failed to function as expected. The battery does not last even a week and continues to drain extremely quickly despite my long-standing active subscription. As a result, I am unable to properly use or benefit from the services I am paying for.

Although I raised this issue several times, no effective solution has been provided. Instead, I was offered a promotion for a Ring Chime device, which is not even available on your website. I fail to understand how a chime device could address a battery-related problem with a security camera. This response appeared irrelevant and dismissive of the actual issue.

In addition, my Ring Doorbell has unexpectedly stopped functioning correctly. The video feed no longer works at all—the image is completely black, with no access to live view or recorded footage. This failure occurred without explanation and has rendered the device unusable. Given the timing and lack of resolution, it gives the impression that customers are being pushed toward purchasing additional devices instead of receiving proper technical support for existing products.

Despite paying for a subscription, the system frequently fails to detect visitors who are clearly standing in front of the doorbell. This defeats the primary purpose of a security device and raises serious concerns about reliability and value for money.

I would like to ask plainly: what exactly am I paying for if the devices do not work correctly and the issues are not resolved?

I expect a proper investigation into these problems, a clear explanation, and a concrete solution—whether that be repair, replacement, or an appropriate refund or compensation. If this matter cannot be resolved satisfactorily, I will consider escalating my complaint further.

Awful products with matching support

Bought a Din Rail transformer for a non Ring doorbell... A TRANSFROMER, yet they wouldn't replace it under warranty because they couldn't diagnose it remotely as I used it for a supplier of a better doorbell (not ring). I noticed I had Gen2 yet there is now a Gen3. Clearly a fault with what is otherwise a really simple product. A shame the support is as dismal as the quality of the product. Steer clear of Ring.

Ring is rubbish now

Been a ring customer and subscriber for several years. Beware that Ring remotely switch off certain functions to make you buy another unit.
First my Ring doorbell stops sending low battery notifications. Then after being hard wired the battery stopped charging. Replaced the charger and still not charging despite outputting 24v. I am one of thousands who've experienced these issues. Avoid Ring and choose Eufy instead.

Ordered for delivery to UK but when I tried to return an item I can only drop off to UPS locations in the US. Took ages to speak with an agent that wasn’t able to help and then disconnected on me, didn’t call back. ChatBot on the App is cretinous and patronising.

RING do not do Complaints!

I have lots of Ring products and generally very happy however recent experience prompts this review to try to get some attention.

An outdoor camera went faulty and Ring provided a replacement in white as they didn’t have any black ones. I was told to call in a couple of weeks to get a black one. This has now gone on for several months and several calls and all I get told is there are no black ones and I need to wait. I have asked for a message when they are available but told I have to call every time!

I then checked the Ring shop. Black ones were available but the agent said they were different stock. I requested Ring send me one zero cost but told the stock can not be used.

I asked to raise a complaint and Ring do not have a complaint system. Maybe that’s why the rating on Trustpilot are so low.

Support

Very disappointing experience with Ring (ring.co.uk).

I am extremely dissatisfied with the service I received from Ring. Their customer support has been absolutely unhelpful, dismissive, and showed no real intention to resolve my issue. Every interaction felt like I was being ignored, and instead of offering any meaningful assistance, they kept passing me around without providing a real solution.

What’s even worse is that Ring completely failed to fulfil their warranty obligations. Despite clearly qualifying for warranty support, they refused to take responsibility and left me with a faulty product and no help whatsoever. This is simply unacceptable for a company of their size.

I honestly cannot recommend Ring to anyone. Their customer service is unreliable, their attitude is careless, and they clearly do not stand behind their products. Save yourself the frustration and choose a company that actually values its customers.

Cloud storage and app access

I install cameras and have been trialling the powered ring doorbell pro.
It was fine for the first year but something has changed with the software and paid for storage.
My cams miss segments and lately it's impossible to have direct technical support. So I pay for something lately I'm not getting.
Last night I had an amazon delivery it got the guy coming in but not going out???? Really not much use.
My advice now is maybe don't jump in, the doorbell is good for day to day viewing whilst out of the house and talking to visitors, but don't rely on the cloud storage footage as I think they are struggling to keep all of our data.

Ring Customer support is useless

Ring Customer support once you get past the useless BOT, goes down hill even further.
I was trying to resolve a subscription I took out to upgrade to Standard 3 weeks prior and no Video history since then.
All I got was you didnt take it out then, you took it out today!
They didnt listen, couldnt receive email info or screen shots from me and said no it cant be restored back to my real subscription date
So basically wasted my time talking to them

Horrendous customer service

Horrendous customer service
Bought a second device, want to upgrade the subscription so I have both devices covered. You can’t! You either have to pay double for 2 separate plans or cancel the old plan and start a new subscription but you get no pro rata refund for the now redundant and unused old plan. Daylight robbery and an insult to customers who are actually trying to be loyal to the brand! I am totally baffled by this as a business practice-it’s madness!

UK buyers beware, I was a Happy Ring user for many years

Happy Ring user for many years. A small problem with an old door bell chime got a very helpful response, and a replacement after several years, as the Mexican gentleman told me it was still within warranty. Excellent service, quite like the service Amazon used to give. Recently a Pro2 doorbell had a problem, with the weather shield 'glass' cover falling off due to a manufacturing problem. Contacted Ring, spoke to a lady in the Philippians, who asked for a photograph. She replied saying it was damaged, and not covered even after speaking at my request to supervisors. It just fell out, no damage by anyone. As the product was still guaranteed and within one year of purchase, I thought this was harsh, and unreasonable. Amazon purchase site, told me I still had until February 2026 to return it. So I contacted them, and a lovely man in Pakistan said Yes, just wait for the return email. Amazon then wiped the return details and sent a discount code. Why do trading standards UK with guarantees not apply when goods are purchased here? So difficult to contact Amazon and speak with someone who understands UK law?

When an Outdoor cameras cant work Outdoors ...?

My Experience With Ring: A Disabled Customer’s Struggle for Fair Treatment .....

I want to share my experience with Ring and Amazon.com, not out of anger, but because I believe other customers — especially disabled customers — deserve to know what can happen when things go wrong and a company refuses to take responsibility.

I purchased several Ring products, including outdoor Stick Up Cams, extra batteries, and a subscription plan. What I expected was a reliable security system, especially as someone who lives with severe heart failure, complex medical needs, and relies heavily on feeling safe in my home. Unfortunately, from the moment temperatures dropped to around 1°C, the outdoor cameras became unusable. Condensation built up inside the lens, then froze, leaving the camera completely blind throughout the night. No visibility, no live view, no motion alerts — nothing. This is a well-known issue that countless other customers have raised, yet Ring has never acknowledged it publicly or offered a real solution.

Despite months of troubleshooting, reading manuals, following every instruction, cleaning the lens, resetting the system and speaking with support repeatedly, the problem never improved. Instead of accepting responsibility for a product that clearly isn’t fit for purpose in normal UK weather, Ring insisted on asking for more photos, more steps, more hoops to jump through — long after all the evidence had already been given.

Then came the next battle: trying to obtain a refund.

Ring and Amazon both operate a strict “no refund” stance once the product is outside the standard return window, even when the fault is a manufacturing or design flaw, and even when the product clearly cannot perform its advertised function. As a disabled customer, this process has been exhausting and harmful to my health. I take 37 tablets a day and manage multiple serious conditions. Excessive screen time gives me headaches and increases my stress, which in turn affects my heart. Because of this, I requested my data and correspondence be provided in a large-print paper format — something the ICO’s own guidance clearly states is a legal requirement as part of reasonable adjustments under the Equality Act.

Yet Ring and Amazon failed to offer any accessible format, failed to discuss my needs, and failed to make any reasonable adjustments at all. In fact, my Subject Access Request was only acknowledged weeks after it was made, and only after I pushed repeatedly.

For a global company to disregard a disabled customer’s accessibility needs is deeply disappointing. Accessibility isn’t optional. It is the law.

After weeks of distress, worry, and feeling completely let down, I finally managed to obtain a refund — but only after escalating the matter, quoting legislation, contacting the ICO, and preparing a Simple Procedure claim for Glasgow Sheriff Court. No customer, disabled or otherwise, should be forced into that situation simply to be treated fairly.

I’m sharing this because companies need to do better — and disabled customers deserve to be heard, respected, and supported, not ignored.
