Avoid, don't believe the marketing bumph

Booked this hotel for 6 night stay commencing 26th April. Due to conflict emailed them on three separate occassions requesting details of cancellations policy and refunds etc. NO RESPONSE. Totally ignorant, obviously do not care about customers concerns. I am so disgusted with their lack of customer care that I will never book this hotel again, regardless of their promotional blurbs extolling their extra special customer care. It has been a real eye opener as to what to expect if you get scammed by their marketing propaganda and actually fulfil your reservation. Avoid these people, there are other options available.

Not suitable for western travellers. Hostile and Intimidating

I booked on booking.com for the Roxis Premium Seagate Sharm El Sheikh. This was the most uncomfortable and intimidating hotel experience I have ever had and completely unacceptable for a property presenting itself as a five star resort charging premium nightly rates.

Before travelling, the hotel sent a message stating they cater for families, couples, and children. I replied clearly in writing explaining that we are not a couple, we do not have children, we are family members, and that I had booked a twin room. I received no response. There was no clarification, no warning, and no indication that this would be an issue.

I arrived at 15:00. Security immediately asked to see our booking confirmation, which I showed from Booking.com. The security guard then stood beside me until I was served. Reception was extremely slow and there was no warmth or welcome at all.

When I reached the desk, I was told I was at the wrong site and should be at the Aqua section. My booking confirmation did not state this anywhere. There were no instructions explaining this. I was then told I could stay at the Seagate section if I paid extra, which I agreed to. During processing, the receptionist stopped and said she needed to wait for a colleague.

Another staff member took over, took my passport and phone, told me to sit down, and then proceeded to serve several other guests while we waited. There was no explanation, no reassurance, and no courtesy. The issue was not clearly explained. The tone throughout was abrupt, cold, and dismissive. There were no smiles and no sense of hospitality. It was deeply embarrassing.

We were travelling to celebrate my cousin’s birthday. Instead of being welcomed, we were made to feel as though we were doing something wrong simply by trying to check in.

When I asked to speak to a manager, I was given the duty manager, Ahmed. I requested the hotel manager but was told he was unavailable. The duty manager stated the hotel only accepts families and couples. I explained again that we are family. He stated that cousins do not count as family and that in his definition family only means wives, brothers, sisters, or children.

We were effectively refused because we could not prove we were cousins. It is unreasonable to expect guests to carry proof of extended family relationships while travelling. What makes this worse is that I had already messaged in advance to clarify our situation. The hotel did not respond, did not cancel the booking, and did not raise concerns before arrival. We were only informed once we were standing at reception.

Booking.com contacted the hotel directly and spoke to reception staff. They described the response as unreasonable and expressed embarrassment about how the situation had been handled. We waited nearly two hours in an atmosphere that felt hostile and intimidating. For a supposed five star hotel, the way guests are treated is shocking. It felt more like being processed than welcomed. At no point did we feel comfortable or safe.

Due to the refusal to accommodate us, I was forced to secure alternative accommodation and did not gain access to another hotel room until 19:13 that same day.

As we were leaving, after Booking.com had issued a refund and raised concerns, the duty manager ran after us to say he had now received approval from the regional manager for us to stay. By that stage, the damage was done. After being treated in such a cold and confrontational manner, we did not feel safe or willing to remain there. It was very hostile and humilating, I did not feel safe there as a british Citizen.

We could easily have said we were a couple and avoided the situation, but we chose to be honest. To then be challenged and made to justify our relationship at reception was humiliating. I have never felt so degraded in a hotel environment. It ruined what was meant to be a birthday celebration.

After leaving, while outside the hotel grounds, I spoke to a guest who had already checked in. She told me she also found reception very rude and unwelcoming. She said that although the grounds were attractive, the food was poor and not what she would expect from a five star hotel despite the number of restaurants. She made it clear it would be her first and last stay.

From what I experienced, the overall atmosphere felt hostile and unwelcoming. I did not feel Western guests were treated particularly well. I would strongly advise travellers from Western countries to consider alternative hotels.

I have previously stayed at The Savoy, Amwaj, and the Cleopatra in Sharm El Sheikh, all of which were professional, welcoming, and treated guests with the dignity and respect paying customers deserve. Based on my experience, I would not recommend booking a Rixos hotel.

Nightmare trying to move by 1 day

I'll start of saying that if the issue is fixed as I hope, then I will amend my review accordingly.

I mistakenly booked for 1 day later for my girlfriend's birthday trip than I was supposed to and requested a date change through booking.com

That was accepted with a cost. I accepted this, especially as it was my mistake and thought my booking was all sorted.

I then had an email saying that my booking was cancelled. My card had been charged and the payment didn't go thought for the date change fee.

I reached out to the hotel and to booking.com to say I was happy to try again to make the payment but that resolution was declined.

Booking.com had managed to get through to the Hotel who said that they must wait a week and schedule a call with the manager to discuss the issue.

I then got a message from booking.com saying that I have 24 hours to book an entirely new booking and then I MAY be refunded on my old booking.

This solution seems ridiculous, greedy and rude, I can't afford to pay 2 hotel payments unless I can be sure that it will be refunded.

I called the hotel to check on this as requested and started to explain my issue and the person was very rude to me saying that "I shouldn't have used a stolen or fraudulent credit card" - which is of course not the case (I had just reached my limit after the main payment so the additional fee was not accepted).

All I was looking to get was confirmation that this is the only way and that there is no way that I can just pay the original paid fee.

He very rudely told me that I have 24 hours to make a new booking and if not then I will lose all the funds of my original booking and not be refunded at all.

I now have to find the money to book a full new booking in the hopes that I am refunded for the first booking.

Food Poisoning, Lack of Support During a Medical Emergency, and Pressure to Sign a Waiver

We had a very serious and disappointing experience during our stay at Rixos Bab Al Bahr.

My wife became severely ill after eating at the hotel restaurant and suffered what doctors diagnosed as food poisoning. Her condition was extremely serious, and we had to take her to the hospital ourselves in the middle of the night. We paid all medical expenses personally.

What was most shocking was that no one from hotel management checked on us. No visit, no phone call, no assistance, not even basic concern from the front office manager.

Because we returned from the hospital at 4 AM, my wife was exhausted and unwell. We requested a late checkout. The hotel charged us AED 600 for it.

Then we were asked to sign a document saying we accept a “compensation” of AED 600 and agree not to take further action or share details publicly. In other words, we were asked to waive our rights and stay silent in exchange for the late checkout fee.

This felt extremely unfair and insensitive given the health risk my wife faced.

I am sharing this experience so other guests are aware and so hotels understand that guest safety and care should come before paperwork and waivers.

DJ Fela, along with all the staff at Rixos adults only, are brilliant!

Rixos adults only in Sharm continues to be our favourite hotel out of 12 others!
Firstly, the STAFF are so welcoming and can't do enough for you. Mohamed on the beach, the gentlemen in the Taj Mahal, Indian, the entertainment team, Akram, the photographer and the DJ in the afternoon party made our holiday! Helpful, friendly and fun.
The FOOD is amazing.
A la carte restaurants top quality and fantastic service.
Buffet average.
Coffee shop( needs more than one person serving!!!!!)and detox bar on beach lovely.
POOL areas and beach nice. Lifeguards will always find you a bed!
Snorkeling ok but same most hotels. Not as beautiful as it used to be 20 years ago!!!!!!!
ENTERTAINMENT is excellent. The party atmosphere, the dancers, the DJS.
ROOMs are lovely and clean, beds are comfy.
DRINKS, mmmmmmmm, the only disappointment. I don't understand why the drinks are top quality in reception bar only????
The quality of the drinks and bar area are far superior over at Seagate!!!!???????
So in an adults only hotel you have to catch a buggy 15 minutes to go and get a decent drink from another hotel!!!!!
Finally, the buggies. Oh what fun and the drivers Ali Baba and Aladdin, hilarious 🤣 beep beep!
Thanks for a wonderful 3rd stay.
See you next year. ❤️

Rixos Abu Dhabi/ massive change

Rixos Abu Dhabi, stayed in this when it first opened 7 years ago and it was amazing it was definitely 5*.
So we went back in November 17th for my 60th birthday with my wife and 6 family members, so we had 4 rooms and spend £17000 on the trip.
We got there about 10.30ish and were told no rooms where ready at all which was so unusual for this part of the world, I’ve been going Dubai for the last 20 years every year never had this issue anyway 3 o’clock comes & 1 room is ready and then didn’t the other pass check in time which even had to keep asking.
Suited staff were all terrible and not polite at all a massive difference from my first visit, if I’m honest I could write so much more and not a lot would be good, but I would like to say the bar staff, cleaners, pool bar staff and any staff that were not wearing suits were brilliant, food was ok

Food was outstanding and the gym facilities were exceptional! Cannot wait to return will choose a sunnier month

Never again — Absolutely unacceptable experience – booking denied, zero support, fake “luxury” hotel

If I could give zero stars, I would.
We booked and fully paid for our stay at Rixos Marina Abu Dhabi through OneTwoTrip / Hotelbeds (booking reference B29773656719) 10 days before our arrival. Everything looked fine — confirmation, payment, and voucher.

However, when we arrived on November 1, 2025, the hotel staff said they couldn’t find our booking in their system. We were asked to “wait” while they checked. We waited for more than three hours in the lobby, completely ignored by management. Not a single apology, no water offered, no effort to help, nothing. The staff acted cold, indifferent, and unprofessional — absolutely not what you expect from a so-called five-star resort.

Instead of trying to solve the problem, the hotel suggested that we could pay for a one-day stay — with a warning that if the issue wasn’t resolved, the money would not be refunded. This is outrageous behavior for any hotel, let alone one advertising itself as “luxury.”

Later it turned out that the hotel itself caused the problem: they had overbooked rooms and never informed the booking partner in advance. They waited until guests physically arrived to reveal it — a complete lack of communication and responsibility.

To make things worse, a large part of the hotel territory was closed for renovation, with loud construction noise during the day, and no mention of this anywhere online. Guests are paying premium prices for a place that feels more like a construction site.

After wasting hours of our time, we had to leave and book another hotel at our own expense.
Rixos Marina Abu Dhabi is not about hospitality or luxury — it’s about arrogance, poor management, and fake shine.

Avoid this hotel if you value your time, money, and peace of mind.

Rixos Dubrovnik is not a 5 star hotel

Rixos Dubrovnik
Stayed for 10 days. The room was OK with great sea view but no sun awning so too hot to use during the day. The room requires updating but beds were comfortable. Service was very good but we discovered that whilst the hotel was full, few visited the bar terrace area because it was too expensive. It has become a transit hotel ie the cruise ship arrives in Dubrovnik and people leave the ship and are put up in the Rixos for 3 days awaiting their flights home. They visit the pizza bars in Dubrovnik which are much cheaper. This leaves the hotel with no real atmosphere. Evening entertainment is limited to local covers duets.
An evening meal at the hotels Turquoise bar is GBP 50.00 each and a bottle of wine £50. So expensive as this is the cheapest restaurant evening meal.Food quality is good. For the money we spent we could have had 14 days in Barbados at an all inclusive 5 star hotel. The outside sunbathing area was far too crowded and the pool dated. Its a tourist trap with Dubrovnik old town offering a cable car ride of a few minutes to see the view costing GBP 30.00 each which is ridiculous. Taxis are out of control with fare pricing abusing the tourists wallet so avoided. Used my Uber app.Dubrovnik to Rixos local fare Euro 20 or Uber Euro 8. The Rixos does offer a selective discount if you re-attend the restaurant. Laundry service is very expensive. Location of the hotel is excellent.
Dubrovnik old town is full of tourist shops and ice cream sellers. It can be overwhelmed with tourists especially if a cruise ship is in. All in all it was ok but you have the feeling that at every level you are being milked like a cow.

So we just have arrived 27.08.2024 to…

So we just have arrived 27.08.2024 to Rixos Premium Bodrum, and from the very start they started with wrong attitude with us.
To be clear: i am client of Rixos hotels since 2012 and I have more than 15 visits of Rixos hotels. So let us start from the beginning. By the way I am speaking 5 languages and this review is gonna be posted in all languages on all the platforms available.
They took extra tip for giving me the early check in as a big favour ending by sending our family in their worst and most far away room. “As a huge favor” as they mentioned….
When I told them that I am not satisfied they completely ignored and reluctantly and bold responded me back !
I stood and just waited to see what it is gonna be their move. They give me a number ( photo and video attached as a better representation and type!
This is customer service that I am sick about to support the treatment after being in Rixos network more than 14 times which is unnacceptable!
Let’s go further…
Swimming 🏊‍♂️ pool with jacuzzi which is not working at all, just the name of jacuzi. Useless.
And again we are talking about a 5 star hotel which is suppose be be aligned which certain quality….
The guest relations person which writes you a dozen of messages in wats up are useless because they are not in charge of anything. They just keep bla bla regular texts with no solutions!
I have mentioned them in my morning discussion about my food alergies and my daughter one: intolerances. And the only answer they gave me , was: We have a la carte restaurant for this price( meanwhile in all turkey hotels they give you 1-2 a la carte restaurant for free for 6-7 day stay! to mention that we have booked 9 nights and I regret it with all my heart. Kids club and water slides are awful … with no activities at all! The smell of urine is unacceptable !
in my Compared to Vogue hotel which has plenty of them(water slides ,concerts ) eta
The ignorance of the personal makes it feel it twice horrible.
I am writing real review and I would like to mention their strong parts as well.
Service at the beach club : amazing !
But reception guys, you have no idea how hat 5 star hotel service means.
I already lost my holiday mood and every day I will make a point to show real situation here , posted in 5 languages which I speak aligned with photo and video examples.
I am not king of scandalous person but when you think I am a fool I can show you exactly what it means. Today 27 August beach here is empty and I understand why.

Rixos Dubrovnik never come here if you expect 5* service

One of the poorest experiences of staying at 5* hotels. The location, the hotel and its facilities are fine, but the service is the worst ever I have come across. Starting from arrival when we had to wait for the room to be ready for 4 hours and spending money for absolutely tasteless drinks. If you decide to stay then won’t be surprised that on your return to room at 3pm it is not clean yet. It also mean that you literally cannot have a cup of tea, because this hotel cares about the environment so much that there are no teaspoons but wooden stick. If the room was not clean and you already had tea /coffee in the morning, you are expected to use your fingers to stir. The food at breakfast is amazing, but you can be sitted at the tables without any napkins and as the stuff is always busy it is quite a challenge to get the one. You may wait for coffee or tea to be served for 20 min or sometimes asking the waitress twice. Going on holidays three times a year I could not imagine that it is possible to have such a bad service at premium hotel. Never come back and will advise to choose a different hotel if you would like a nice holiday

One of the worst so-called 5-star…

One of the worst so-called 5-star hotels we’ve stayed at Rixos Dubrovnik

We came here after our wedding, checked in around 7pm and got a “sea view” room that smelled bad, was old and worn, and had broken AC that made loud noise. We had to change rooms, and instead of any apology or proper solution we were given two single beds pushed together.

The beach situation is a joke – if you don’t wake up before 9am you will not get a sunbed. After that, you have to argue with staff to find a spot. Definitely not what you expect from a 5-star resort.

Service is mediocre at best, drinks are overpriced and watered down with almost no alcohol, and Wi-Fi barely works in most areas – unacceptable if you need it for work. Everything feels overcharged for what you actually get.

We’ve stayed at many true 5-star hotels around the world (Mykonos, LA, etc.), and this place is nowhere near that level. Honestly, one of the worst “luxury” experiences we’ve ever had. Never again.

They put the wrong price of the land of legends hotel on booking.com. I booked flights and told my kids who were excited. They then cancelled a few weeks before we were due to fly and said the price was four times higher! My children were disappointed, we had nowhere to stay and I will be taking it further. They could have easily matched the price they gave, as a big hotel, but they chose not to accept their mistake. No care for inconveniencing others. Unacceptable.

Poor response by hotel

An unexpected health issue for one of our party of 3 has prevented them travelling for at least the next 6 months. Naturally we were very disappointed at not being able to travel as planned, and asked the hotel if we could push our booking back to April 2026, as we were still keen to make the trip. And the hotel had been a recommendation to us.

Deeply disappointing that that hotel declined to allow us to postpone our trip to next year, when our friend will be able to travel again.

We will be making the trip to Dubrovnik - but we will not be coming to this hotel. The lack of understanding for what is clearly a difficult situation for all concerned was surprising, and hugely disappointing.

Great Facilities, But Customer Service Is a Disaster!

We stayed at RIXOS BAB AL BAHR in Ras Al Khaimah, and while the overall facilities were good and we had a nice time, their understanding of customer service is a complete joke.

We booked through Stayforlong (I’ve left a separate review about their mess), and when we arrived at the hotel, we were told that we had two bookings—both of which had been canceled. Confused, we started calling Stayforlong while speaking with the hotel receptionist. We arrived around 12:30, knowing check-in was at 15:00, so we assumed there was plenty of time to sort it out. However, I had to ask for a "free pass" to the restaurants because we had our kids with us—something they should have offered automatically, given the situation.

By 16:00, with still no room, I was getting extremely frustrated. The front desk manager finally came out, and I thought, Okay, now something will happen. I was so wrong. His “solution” was to offer me a daily rate drop-in booking and block the amount on my credit card—despite the fact that we had already paid and the payment had already been withdrawn from us!

Instead of helping, he treated us as if we were lying about our booking. Around 17:00, he told us they had received an email from their partner confirming our booking, yet he still refused to give us the room because he had to wait for the payment to be processed as well.

We finally checked in around 17:30. Neither the hotel nor Stayforlong has done anything to apologize for the inconvenience. When I told the front desk manager I’d be leaving a review because of how poorly they handled this, his arrogant response was, "Of course, but we have the right to reply."

For a so-called luxury hotel, this level of service is unacceptable.
