I’ve been a Rock Choir member for over 5 years now and have loved every minute of it. The friendship, laughter, community and to feel like you belong to something is worth it’s weight in gold. Yes the price has gone up but for what it’s given me in return is worth it. The leaders are so incredibly talented and work so hard to ensure every session they run is full of fun, laughter and of course singing. Everyone should give it a go, for metal health, it’s so valuable, and for building confidence, friendships as well as sounding incredible.
Come with an open mind ready to embrace the unknown and you won’t ever look back

Was really looking forward to joining like minded people to sing with but found it very clicky and not the friendly atmosphere I expected. The leader is fantastic though and the only reason I’ve given two stars rather than one. So disappointed

Would put a 5 down for the 8 years I went to rockchoir, I made some lovely friends and the leader was good at teaching.
Then covid happened and to keep the choir running I paid throughout and didn’t get anything for this other than online meets but I continued paying as I was committed to the choir.
I had a mental breakdown also during this period and was aware I was unwell but continued to happily take my money each term.
With my recovery I found memory hard so I decided to take a break and 5.00 was asked for the end of term and not so much a Thankyou for the support as a paying customer.
A year or so later I re joined choir as I was missing it and the friends I had made and I was settled in work and recommendation from dr was to re attend, my memory was still not great and work was hard for me to go to events so I decided to leave again and no sooner have I cancelled my membership I started getting emails for 16.50 and these become daily urgent requests, which caused undue stress even. Though I have not been attending.
The rock choir has become a money greedy company which do not care for their members and you are seen as a number not a person.
A shame as was such a good happy close nit group untill covid hit and now it’s all about how much money can be made

I joined Rock Choir 5 years ago and have never looked back! After a stressful day at work, to walk into a room full of friends and sing your heart out (however good or bad that might be!) is priceless. It is also so much more than a choir both in terms of social activities we have and the support of friends when life is not going so well. Carey, our relatively new choir leader, is so enthusiastic and supportive and ensures that every week is fun. The icing on the cake for us South West Rockies is a trip to New York to perform at Carnegie Hall! Counting the days …..

I joined the Bromsgrove Rock Choir in October 2023. I needed a social activity to get me out of the house following bereavement. I used to sing in a church choir years ago and many people commented on how they liked my singing at church events so I sought out a choir and found Rock Choir. It has been one of the most uplifting, motivating and rewarding hobbies I have undertaken. The members are warm, non-judgmental, happy and kind. The choir leader is extremely talented, funny, caring, kind and sooo hard working. I have seen unkind comments about the quality of singing and commercialism around Rock Choir that is totally unfounded. The leaders and members are highly talented and give freely of their time to raise substantial money for charity and happily fund our own travel etc for the events. I highly recommend Rock Choir to anyone who is open to just enjoying singing with happy supportive open people.

My partner was a member for five years. Unfortunately as the time went on the rock choir was obviousy geared towards a money making entity with little thought to the members. For example they paid their own way to attend performances without being supplied with so much as water afterwards. My partner eventually decided she had had enough and left after a months notice. She had faithfully paid monthly for five years. She then received emails demanding an extra month's money to cover to the end of 'term time'. So from a monthly subscription it went to term time. The emails became more threatening and she paid to get them off her back. I personally wish I had been responsible for payment as I would have loved to have taken them on and exposed a side to this organisation not seen publicly. I'm glad she's out of it and happy with another choir who actually care about their members.

From my free try till now I have found Rock Choir to be amazing . From being bored at home since retiring to attending 2/3 sessions a week .Everyone is friendly and makes you feel welcome . Bev is a brilliant teacher , who makes our sessions fun and enjoyable. I’ve made lots of new friends , some of us car share and attend other nearby sessions every week without having to pay any extra fees which makes it even better value . But I think it is well worth the monthly fees we pay anyway . I’m looking forward to attending my first gig in a few weeks time . .

I have only been a part of Jans Winchester rock choir for a few months but I’ve never felt so welcome in a community of people. Jan is an absolutely brilliant choir leader, Tracey is the kindest soul and the group of people are so so lovely. As someone younger I am so glad I’ve been able to enjoy this as much as I have and the first song I heard them sing together I knew how much I wanted to be there.

I had been looking at joining Rock Choir for almost a year but with a pending house move out of the County I decided to wait until I was unpacked and relatively settled in my new home (in Irthlingborough, Northants).
I've been in my local group for just 2 weeks and I am buzzing!!
The Rock Choir team were so welcoming when I arrived at my first session and did everything they could to make sure I was made to feel welcome. It felt like my first day at a new school when I stepped in but 5 minutes later I felt like I'd be going for years!!
Dave, our Choir Leader, has so much love and energy for singing. He's full of encouragement and we have a good giggle along the way. The songs cover all genres so there's always something to sing the rooftops off with or to take a moment of reflection along as you sing.
I can't wait to see what waits for us as a Choir, and events we will be sharing with our fellow Rockies.
My only regret is that I waited a year to join.
If you're thinking about trying this, don't wait like I did. Go along to a free taster session; I guarantee you won't be disappointed 😊
UPDATE: I'm still a member and still loving every rehearsal and event. April 2026.

After my taster I started my membership. The atmosphere is incredible and I’ve already made new friends. I already feel like my mental health has improved and I’m so excited to get stuck in! The choir leader for our area (Richard) is brilliant! Friendly and knowledgeable. The choir I’ve joined is very big, but he has a way of making you feel seen and valued.

Rock choir is great for making new friends and fab if you enjoy singing
Unfortunately it wasn’t for me due to the cost
You only actually have the opportunity of 28 sessions out a year terms are very short and you still have to pay £27.50 a month even if there are no sessions
If you decide to do the performing it probably is better value
Was also put off with the strict dress code
Black coat, black trousers, fully black shoes A little bit too much like school uniform for me

I joined rock choir 2019 but have left now nearly 3 years ago, rock choir is too regimented, you can't do this etc etc... And the cost is unreasonable no discounts for people on benefits, so with them saying it helps mentally to sing it doesn't as the cost is detrimental to mental health. Prices should be revised, paying even when not term time doesn't make sense not worth £27.50. I wanted to join a happy care free choir, but this felt like being back in schoo

Six years ago I took the plunge and joined Rick choir and I can honestly say I have never looked back. The feeling I get when I sing with the Rockies is priceless and the friendships I’ve made I know are forever. Our choir leader Jan Moll is an absolute star…. She’s not only a great teacher, but makes it fun and we love the bits.
Would make it recommend joining to anybody.

Joining Rock Choir is the best decision ever. I was so nervous and anxious, but I needn't have worried. Everyone is so helpful, friendly. It is one big family. Choir practice can't come quick enough! Have done 3 gigs since joining in September this year and already booked to do loads more.
Well done to Marcus our Choir Leader for all the hard work he puts in, and well done Rock Choir for being inclusive and diverse.
You've certainly changed my life for the better.

Just been to a taster session and it was everything I’d hoped it would be. I’ve just signed up as a full member. I’ve wanted to do it for years.. and this summer, I watched a Rock Choir perform at a local fete; they were SO good and knew then I was going to join. I’m really excited!

If you have a hidden disability and visible disability and you wish to be treated equally, from my experience, there is a severe lack and understanding of disabilities and how to be treated equally, if you have a disability you are deemed as a liability, when you let those at Rock Choir know your special needs and requirements
1. Wheelchair user
2. Must be flat and fully accessible
3. Must have fully accessible toilet for a wheelchair
These we’re continually ignored
When in communication with a 84% hearing loss and there severe lack and no understanding of hidden disabilities
I was accused of shouting, yelling and then told I was abusive , as a excuse.
A better understanding and better quality training
Then being treated equally, like abled bodied colleagues, would make for a better resolution
I am now with a alternative choir that has a major understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion
Where Rock Choir failed myself
It should not take a disabled individual, to tell a organisation of where there failings are, Rock Choir listened a lot , Rock Choir stipulated a lot , but the overall outcome and experience was inclusivity was non existent, disability made myself a total liability
Just felt 100% totally disrespected
A organisation driven by numbers and memberships and no time to devote to equality, diversity and inclusion
My only advice before enrolling and making a commitment, check they are not business motivated or orientated, but have time and dedication to its members, show areas of weakness and encourage improvement , to make you a lot better performer
Thanks
John

Rock Choir is such a tonic for the mind, body and soul. Such a wonderful, unique opportunity for those of us with limited access to music to sing and perform together.
I have been part of one of the Coventry choirs for about 4.5 years and every session is joyous. We have done so many fantastic gigs too, of all shapes and sizes, re.g. Godiva Main stage to care homes.
The Rock Choir philosophy means that anyone can take part and you don't have to be able to read music as we learn with lyrics and harmonies only, e.g. reading, listening, repeating, practising, performing. Nonetheless, performances are amazing thanks to our super-talented Rock Choir leaders who model what we have to do.
The songs are an eclectic mix, e.g. this term we have done 'Shake it off','Loco in Acapulco' and 'Video Killed the Radio Star' and in the Autumn one we're doing 'Sweet Child of Mine' amongst others.

Rock Choir for me and many others is literally life changing. When I joined nearly 10 years ago, I had young children a job and not much time for myself. The 1 1/2 hours I spend at Rock Choir are a little oasis just for me. It had unlocked confidence I never knew I had and had such a family feel I have made new friendships and truly feel I am part of something special. We sing some great songs and are able to part of some amazing event such visits to Abbey Road and big arena events. Would recommend to anyone who loves singing of any ability ! 😊

I joined Doncaster rock choir in January 2023. What an experience it has been so far.
Kate Threlfall is a truly inspiring and talented choir leader, who ensures every session is an enjoyable learning experience. It has been so much fun learning the songs and dance routines together.
Preforming for the public has been the highlight of my journey so far.
I would highly recommend anyone to join the rock choir family.

I joined Saddleworth Rock Choir with my mum in May after she mentioned she was having a taster session and I had decided to go along with her.
I really didn't know what to expect or which group I would be suited to (bass, Alto, Suprano) but found my place in Suprano and love it.
Since joining everyone has been so welcoming and friendly especially Xander our choir leader and there is never a moment of feeling uncomfortable, the sessions are so much fun and the songs are a mixture of Slow to upbeat songs it really is an amazing atmosphere. So much fun! I'm so glad I joined.
If you think this could be something for you... definitely try a taster session.
