Rented machine from a local Publix

Rented machine from a local Publix. Machines are not monitored by RugDoctor. They leave it up to the retailer to ensure cleanliness. Unit was filthy had to clean before using. With that said then that is a retailer complaint. Although the unit works NO BETTER than a residential home cleaner you have or can buy. Plus you need to deal with other people’s grossness.

Junk

POS. And customer service is a joke. Unit would not spray. Finally cleaned out slit in sprayer tip with a thin knife blade and got it to spray some. When using the hand attachment on "Tool" the main unit sprayed ccontinuously even when not engaging sprayer. Saturated the floor. Biggest pos carpet cleaner I have ever used. Customer service is about as helpful as a two year old.

NEVER RENT FROM RUG DOCTOR!!I didn’t have any problems checking the…

I didn’t have any problems checking the machine out at Walmart. I found the machine very easy to operate and the return without issue. HOWEVER, after paying for the one day rental at the time of rental ($75.85) 4/24/24. I was charged $148.83 on 5/16/24. When I called to inquire Shauna told me it wasn’t recorded that I’d returned the machine. When I asked why I wasn’t called or emailed about the issue I was told they don’t do that. Wouldn’t that be good customer service? Instead, now I’ll never rent another Rug Doctor because of them keeping my credit card info on file and charging twice the amount of rental without my permission—-3 weeks after my rental! Crooks!! Good thing I check the charges on my credit card or you might have gotten away with it!! Never rent from Rug Doctor!!!

The most disgusting service

The most disgusting service I've encountered in London.
Order Ref: MGCVXDQ
We encountered a problem with the Carpet Washer leaking in handle mode. And it wasn’t a couple of drops from the Carpet Washer, it was actually a leak and the water was flowing.
The handle mode cleans carpets much better than the usual mode, but we were not able to use it.
The support over the phone suggested that we put a towel under the Carpet Washer or use the usual mode.
In the end, we were offered a £5 refund. This is ridiculous.

Do not order these devices, they will deliver you an old, worn out machine that will leak and the support will do NOTHING to help you. And your money will not be returned!

Garbage

Garbage. Wasted my whole entire evening and spent over $100 on the stupid rental. I'm going to have to hire a professional to fix. Instructions are awful. Should be in bold letters to make sure to get all the soap up. I hate this thing so much. Thanks for wasting my energy and money.

Amazing cleaning but leaves soap residue behind, so beware!

I rented one to clean some extremely filthy carpets in the flat that I’m selling. I also did the chairs and sofa.
The machine did an incredible job of getting the dirt out, was absolutely amazed, but it doesn’t rinse the soap out as it cleans. I’d recommend booking an extra day so you can run it with just hot water in, I didn’t have time. As a result my carpets and the sofa are clean, but a bit patchy looking and when I went into the flat next day (I’d been running 2 dehumidifiers all night) the carpets were dry, but there was a lingering dirty soapy water smell. My machine also leaked and this got worse through the day, until it was pooling water. Because so many of these units leak, don’t put it on your car seat, sit it on plastic, in the boot, if you can. It’s also up to the customer to clean it before handing it back, so check underneath before you start, incase the previous rentee hasn’t bothered. I would rent one again, because it did a great job of getting the dirt out, but I’d run it twice, second time with water to rinse the soap out.

Dilapidated machines, ghastly customer service

This company rents out dilapidated pieces of trash. Their customer service is just as poor. The first machine had very poor suction and left the carpet very wet, even though the instructions were followed. Dampness should be expected but the carpet was wet and took days to dry with fans running. The carpet did not seem clean either. I decided to try vacuuming the carpet throughly again and then I rented another machine thinking it was due to malfunction. I got the second machine home and the brush would not turn on, and the light illuminated saying it was jammed. There was nothing stuck and it was easy to turn by hand. I contacted customer service and they stated based on the information the machine was broken and I would have to return to the store to exchange it. When I got to the store I called the kiosk number as instructed. They said I could return the machine for a full refund or exchange it for a new machine. Because this had taken over two hours of my time and an extra trip across town, I asked for a partial refund and to exchange the machine. Rug Doctor declined and refused to give back any money if I exchanged the machine. I simply returned the machine and they refunded me the rental cost, but not my wasted evening. It is understandable that machines malfunction, but I cannot do business with a company that is not interested in making it right. I will rent a Bissell instead. Rug Doctor uses contactless kiosks and their dilapidated machines are not checked or maintained between uses. This is in contrast with Bissell, where you talk to an actual person when renting the cleaner.

My husband was forced to retire

My husband was forced to retire. They did a paper trail and set him up. And then threaten to fire him. He has worked for the company for over 33 years and was given a raise not more then 2-3 years ago after not giving him a raise for many many years. A new manager came in the Okc area and thinking she’s a hot shot did what she could to get my husband out. He is 72 and they repeatedly said don’t leave don’t leave for years and then gave him a raise right around the age of 70. So he would stay. We were given on 3 weeks to prepare. He was told retire or be fired recently. There were no issues until this young lady came through as a new manager. I know this is out right discrimination and ageism. He wasn’t planning on retiring yet. I have health issues n and now have no insurance due to this. Today was his last day. What’s sad is they said leave or be fired n then we will throw you a retirement party. What an insult!!!!! He went to his retirement party. But I could not be there to support because I see right through exactly what’s happening here. Thanks to this lady the upper management’s decision I have no medical insurance n now have no way to pay for medicine now. Shame on you rug dictor/bissell!!!! If you’re looking for a job. This is not the place to go. Several are ready to quit because of this new manger in Okc area. She thinks she’s a hot shot. Well what goes around comes around. It will all come back on her. They don’t give raises very often either n when they do it’s too late. We will figure it out. But having more then 3 weeks to prepare might have helped me find employment myself with insurance. I haven’t had time to get employment with insurance within that time. And the disrespect they showed to my husband is terrible. He deserved better then that.

DO NOT RENT!!!

When I rented the first machine. The hose was ducted taped. The cable was frayed. When I went to unplug the cord the ground was stuck in the extension cord. It seemed like whoever used it prior just stuck the ground back into the plug and returned it. I took it back to the store and they gave me another one. That one didn't seem as damaged as the first. Well I was wrong. There was a missing part off the dirty water container. The cord was also frayed. I ended up getting shocked. Needless to say I will never rent from them again. They need to send out someone to check the equipment so this doesn't happen. The stores also need to take responsibility as well. This could kill someone!

How do they stay in business?

I rent Rug Doctor machines about twice a year. Of the last 6 rentals, 4 have had some sort of issue. The most recent, after one clean solution tank being run, the suction stopped working (so now one room has soaking wet carpet). After getting that sort-of corrected, the third clean solution tank never emptied. It turns out the water pump is likely broken. The process to go get this thing, load it into the car, unload it, the carry it up two flights of stairs etc. is time-consuming. So, while they are willing to refund my rental cost, what about the four hours wasted trying to get this thing straight? There needs to be regular service every “X” number of hours to verify the components work. This will be about a six hour process that should have been done in two. There is a value to my time that this is supposed to help.

Expected better

Not impressed with the machine’s performance. Wasn’t expecting perfect results but the rug doctor has left the carpet streaky and patchy, not a good cleaning tool at all. Followed all the guidance given, including moving slowly and lining up with previous cleans but overall a big disappointment and leaves my carpets looking worse than before. Wouldn’t use again.

Cleaned surprisingly well

I've used a commercial cleaner company in the past for cleaning our 5th wheel rv that we live in fulltime. But this time the cleaner raised their minimum for cleaning rvs to $200, & I only wanted to have 100 sq ft done. So, I rented a Rug Doctor at Walmart. The check out process is pretty straight forward, but the machine is heavy & bulky. I also rented the motorized upholstery tool & bought cleaner solution, & pre-treat solution.. I pre-treated the areas in front of our chairs where our feet leave stains & used the upholstery tool to clean the bad spots. This tool might be pretty useless for most people, as the solution jet nozzle plugs up easily. I removed the nozzle & blew it & the line out with an air compressor, which many people wouldn't have. It clogged several times & I could even see black pieces in the solution feed line. But overall, I was able to remove the dark stains & clean the larger areas in a couple of hours. It actually did a better job than I thought it would. It cleaned just as well as the commercial cleaners I've had do it in the past, & dried just as quickly. The machine & cleaner solutions were $75 vs the $200 for a commercial cleaner. So it was worth it & I will use it again in the future.

I resurrected my old but like new carpet cleaner machine

I resurrected from my heated home garage my older Rug Doctor Deep Cleaning Carpet Cleaner, serial # A 187167, stored for the last few years .This easy to use machine delivering a very good results with only 10 hours of home usage was dumping clean water on the floor.
Finally After speaking to Patrick Cole Field Support Representative I was attributed a case # 1236584
I was supposed to received some part (S)
which I never did> The machine went back on the shelving. In the mean time I bought another brand, but it upset me to have this like new machine not working.
Thanks for your help on this lingering saga.
