It had been a while since I had rented a rug doctor machine. It was easier than the last time.
Dirty at time of pickup
By the time I got home with my rug doctor I realized it was caked with what looked like cat litter and hair. It was my understanding that each device is meant to be cleaned before it is returned so the next person may use it. I spent the first hour cleaning up the previous renters mess before I could get started with my own cleaning. This was highly upsetting as I do not know the exact contents of what I touched in the device and it could be a potential health hazard. Moreover, I could not entirely remove the filthy contents, which I hope did not spread into my own carpet.

Horrible Customer Service
I rented a Rug Doctor Pro from an automated kiosk in a Walmart. The machine stopped consistently working so that I could not finish cleaning even one room and I finally gave up on it around 10:00 PM, ran through online troubleshooting steps which did not fix the machine and decided that I was not going rush to return a malfunctioning machine without telling anyone it was malfunctioning just before midnight.
My wife called the help phone number on the side of the machine the next morning, ran through the same troubleshooting steps with the tech on the phone, then was given a case number, a telephone number to call, and then told to bring the machine to the kiosk and call the phone number.
The woman who answered the phone was contemptuous from the start, impatient, failed to listen so that I had to repeat myself constantly, failed to consistently answer or communicate, and obviously did not want to be taking the call.
While I was given a refund for the initial rental I was told that I would be charged an extra days rental as I did not return a malfunctioning machine to an automated kiosk shortly before midnight without informing anyone.
At this point I will never buy or use a Rug Doctor product again. I have told friends and family locally and across the country of my experience, and am currently disputing the charge on my credit card from Rug Doctor.
Shortly after this failure in customer service I went to a Lowe's not to far away from the Walmart where I was able to rent a Bissell carpet cleaner from a real live person for two days at the rate of what it cost to rent the Rug Doctor for one day. The customer service was great, with flexible return hours. The solution for the machine was cheaper, and the Bissell machine cleans better and draws more power than the Rug Doctor Pro machine I rented from the kiosk.
From now on I will be going out of my way not only to rent and buy Bissell products, but tell everyone who needs to clean carpet or upholstery that Bissell has superior products as well as customer service.

It was easy to reserve online
It was easy to reserve online, but when I got to the place to pickup the rug doctor, the machine was not working. So I had to call the company and cancel my reservation and go to a different place to rent it. That was frustrating.

Terms & Conditions are too long and extensive. It takes too much time to read them and makes renting complicated.

I rented 3 rug doctors in succession only to find that the suction on all 3 would not work, pull up the scrub water. My rug doctor rent was refunded by Kroger. But the rugs remain dirty. These machines had just been serviced by your company...I saw the man in the parking lot myself. Don't know how to do this successfully in the future. Thanks for your attention to this matter. It made my house stink worse than before
It made my house stink worse than original. I bought it to remove one small area of carpet where there was a pet stain. Now my entire house smells like urine. And that was after cleaning it three times over a 24-hour period it just kept getting worse.

A fan of the process
Loved the access and software made it super easy -
Loved the pay and go and easy returns
I was traveling at my daughters house and needed a quick fix/clean before adding bunk beds to their children's room. The quality of the machine was very commercial but didnt draw up the water as well as my own Bissell--that makes all the difference on these machines--- as long as yo pour down warm/hot water the catch is drawing the water up effectively
Machine was dirty
Machine was dirty, had to clean before using. Only 2/3 of the front part had suction, so took longer to complete the room.
Took 15 minutes on the phone to return the machine, because machine was broke.

Works well
Walks you easily through the rent and return process. All the directions for use are right on the vacuum. Very easy to use. Works well.

Convenient and effective in cleaning my rugs. Price was great!
Cleaning power
Even the cheapest rug doctor cleaning liquid demonstrated an insane ability to pull filth from a carpet I didn't know was particularly dirty.
I wanted to clean up a spot of vomit and ended up picking up about a boulder worth of dust and sand-like particles.
Also, the vomit spot disappeared entirely, despite sitting there for several days.
Very helpful
The machine I rented did not work properly. I didn’t have time to go back and exchange it that day. The next day I took machine back called them on phone they exchanged the machine and gave it to me for another day. Although it was a pain and disappointment I didn’t get my carpets cleaned in time for the baby shower I did get to clean it afterwards and now have clean carpets just in time for Christmas.
I was very disappointed
I was very disappointed with it. I was trying to clean my rug and the water would not come up. My rug stayed wet soak too long, and the rug did not come clean.

The machine was excellent it did everything that was expected, and renting the machine was fast and very easy and so was the return of the rug doctor machine
Bad cleaning fluid indicator; Unit not checked ahead of time
The cleaning went reasonably well. However, about every 30-60 seconds, the light would come on indicating that the cleaning fluid was low. This happened even when the tank was completely full.
The more egregious problem was that the unit was not checked properly before it was put back up for rent. Apparently, whoever had used it before had cleaned up poop and didn't empty the machine before returning it. So, after I loaded the unit in my car, it sloshed out some. I'm still trying to get the smell of poop out of my car!

The warning lights for both tanks would stay on regardless the entire time. Initially, I filled the tank with water and solution and ensured the other tank was empty, yet when the machine was turned on--both the red warning lights stayed on. Very disconcerting throughout the entire 4 hour cleaning process
