A great company to do business with

A great company to do business with. David and his team are excellent, extremely helpful they go that extra mile to make sure they deliver a first class service. If all companies provided this kind of service the world would be a better place. They are terrific it was a pleasure doing business with them. Keep continuing doing what you are doing. Thank you so very very much, from a very, very satisfied customer. The scaffolding board were in excellent condition I am so very pleased with them.

Would be quicker making the candle myself

If I could give No stars or even minus stars I would I ordered a candle from this lot on November 30th it is now a month, 2 emails and 2 phone calls later and I still haven't received the bloody thing I live in Northern Ireland so to post a candle from London does not take 4 weeks and as for the fella who I called and who said he would get back in contact with me when he checked his computer for the order thanks a lot for not getting back to mate really appreciated that. Absolute joke of a company avoid them at all costs because you'd be quicker flying to London to buy the thing in the shop than order on their site.

A Freight Charge of £120 for a £12 Order!!!!!!

I'm looking for two off 2ft lengths of used scaffold board and found Rugged London on Ebay selling a selection of lengths down to 2ft. I selected my requirement and went to pay only to find that I couldn't because I had to request a freight charge. Unbelievably I had to commit to the order to acquire the freight charge which under Ebay rules means I have to pay even if I'm not happy with the charge. I decided to message Rugged London through Ebay for the freight charge before commiting to buy, I received a reply advising me to visit the Rugged London website.

On visiting the website I still couldn't find any freight prices so I selected 2 off 60cm unsanded boards at £12.00 total and went to pay to find I had two options pickup or a single freight charge of £120.00. From this I realised had I committed to the Ebay purchase my £12.00 would have escalated to £132.00 for two off used 2ft sections of scaffold board.

Having been buying and selling on Ebay for over 25yrs I'm at a loss to how an Ebay seller can require a potential customer to commit to a purchase in order to find out freight charges. If there is only one freight charge of £120 why didn't Rugged London tell me it's £120 rather than tell me to visit their website.

This appears to be a very dubious selling practice something that perhaps should be raised with Ebay. Given this experience I have no option but to warn people away from Rugged London.....

Response to Rugged London Reply.

Perhaps my true experience above explains why I'm not a customer. I suspect satisfied customers are those who've placed large value orders making a £120 freight charge acceptable. Your website offered me two freight charge options for my £12.00 order, either collection for free or £120 with no options between the two. A freight/postage charge should be appropriate to the size and weight of an order not one charge for all orders....

Below is exactly what it says on the delivery page of the Rugged London website. There is no information on delivery charges. As above there are only two options displayed during the checkout process, free collection or £120 and nothing else. Most websites list delivery charges on the delivery page...

Same day delivery
If you are located in the surrounding London areas we can generally deliver same day to you. Please contact us for further details to arrange a delivery time and to check availability.

Same day dispatch
Order before 2pm for a same day dispatch. Small orders are shipped using DPD who deliver within 3-5 days. Large orders for boards, decking, poles etc are delivered using our own driver. For these we will get in touch to arrange a delivery date with you.

Collection
You are more than welcome to collect from our premises in Greenwich. Please contact us prior to collection to arrange a date and time. This is so we can ensure we have your order ready and available for you as soon as you arrive.

Update:

We're sorry to hear that you are unsatisfied with the order process on eBay, however we are unable to change how they operate as a business model. As we sell scaffold boards from 2ft to 13ft, our delivery rates vary. However, eBay only gives the option of offering one flat fee for delivery. Which is why we have no option but to put the delivery as to request a quote. We then offer postage based on the size of the order and where it is being delivered to. We often refer people to our website as this is all integrated into the system and will calculate the costs for you. Therefore saving you time and giving you a quicker order process.

The delivery rates are clearly shown on the website, before going through the checkout process. They are displayed on every product page under the "delivery" tab. This shows the different rates to each postcode across the country. Due to the size of the boards, we generally make these deliveries ourselves, hence the cost as no courier will deliver large boards.

"A freight/postage charge should be appropriate to the size and weight of an order not one charge for all order" - for the items that we sell and a courier cannot deliver, unfortunately not. If someone lives 300 miles away and our driver has to make the delivery, that's still a 600 mile round trip regardless if you order 2 boards or 200. This is why we have different rates for different postcodes, calculated on how far they are from our premises.

Please see the two screenshots that show the delivery rates clearly displayed on every product page. Our delivery page gives a general overview of our delivery rates, and this gives clear detailed rates for each post code area. Having the rates on each product saves customers having to come away from the item they are looking at to have to go search for the rates:

www.ruggedlondon.co.uk/img/delivery-1.jpg

We would have been more than happy to send a small order of 2 x 2ft boards with our courier company if you had contacted us to let us know that was all you were ordering. We are always happy to accommodate our customers wherever possible.
