Maurice, you are a reader and have been a paying subscriber since November 2024 - and you remain subscribed. Throughout that entire period, you never once contacted us to complain, challenge our balance, or suggest that our coverage was politically motivated.

Sail Away Magazine did not suddenly become “liberal” overnight. Our editorial stance has been consistent since launch: independent, passenger focused, willing to question cruise lines, governments, and policies that affect people’s ability to travel. If that approach was acceptable to you for nearly 15 months, it is difficult to accept the claim that it only became objectionable when a specific US administration was scrutinised.

Cruising is an inherently liberal experience. It exists because of open travel, international cooperation, reciprocal border agreements, multinational crews, global trade, and shared maritime frameworks. A cruise ship can move freely between countries precisely because those systems exist. Questioning policies that restrict or complicate that freedom is not ideology, it is relevance.

Disagreeing with our conclusions is fair. Cancelling a subscription is your right. But dismissing an independent cruise publication as a “diehard rag” only after encountering an opposing viewpoint does not say much about our journalism. It says more about your own tolerance and ability to absorb the opinions of others.

We stand by our reporting, our independence, and the readers who value balanced, fact-based coverage even when it challenges their personal views. Thank you for continuing to subscribe to Sail Away Magazine.
