Avoid this site, better to buy from copart.

Shockingly bad is SalvageMarket and there is no customer service or proper helpline. When there is a problem which is often you can not contact by phone and takes days for them to get back to you by email and when they do they are not very clued up and dont really care or just don't want to help sort the issue out so why do they charge so much for a terrible service.
My boyfriend and I are with 4 salvage sites and this is the worst by a mile, I would advise people to avoid SalvageMarket not only for the terrible customer service they have but it's just not worth the money and there alot of fake bidding going on to get more commission and the excuses they peddle out here to justify what they do is unbelievable, stop messing and misleading honest folk and sort out SalvageMarket without the lame excuses, not happy and will be taking the matter further as seems no one is happy with how this company is ripping off its customers

I newly joined the site and one evening when I was on the site, scrolling through vehicles, as I opened a page to view a vehicle I inadvertently placed a proxy bid on the car, and that to £100 over starting bid.
I wasn't asked to confirm the bid and that was that. I couldn't retract or amend the bid, sites like BCA, Manheim, Copart all ask you to confirm a proxy bids...

I emailed Salvage Market straight away explaining what had happened to which the reply was "contact seller"
I rang the sellers explaining what had happened, who rudely said "no bids can be retracted once bid placed" (could have but these chose not to)....
I contacted Salvage Market via email again to which I recieved an email "sorry nothing we can do"
REALLY??? YOUR THE AUCTIONERS "FIX YOUR SITE" to help prevent mistakes like this.

I watched the auction end and I couldn't believe the speed I receievd the invoice at.

I won't be making payment due to the responses I have recieved. No customer service appalling.

I can't believe I'm going to say this I'd rather deal with Copart and thats saying something even though one is unable to retract a bid I'm sure they would have been more helpful rather then "we can't do anything"

Sites like this need be governed ..... need an OMBUDSMAN for auction houses/sites

Up to the seller if they ALLOW a bid retraction, it was a genuine mistake - Well upto the buyer if he wants to pay then ...... Salvage Market are more then welcome to cancel my account.

Definitely won't be buying from these guys ever!! and have advised my friend who have, to watch when they press buttons on their devices.......

I was on the site, looking at commercial vehicles, I inadvertently bid on a van, I clicked on the £200 over starting price button, I was not asked to confirm bid, that was that, no chance to confirm.

I watched the auction end & it was bid up to just below my high bid, it was so obvious I was being run up.
Next bid would have outbid me.
COMPLETE SCAM
They want £315 + vat to reinstate my account
I won't be buying on here again.
VAT & fees on £3150 were almost £1200!!!
AVOID THESE SCAMMERS.

As you can see from the reply, this site is an absolute disgrace, & if there was an ombudsman they would close it down.

Fake and scammers. Just increase bid and placed bid by themselves. We should complain about these cheaters.

I won the bidding of a car on Friday on Salvage Market from the seller ASM Auto Recycling and called them on Monday to arrange to see the car, sort out the payment and collect it. They said that while I don't pay I couldn't see the car and collect it. I didn't want to risk paying £1700 without seeing what I will get for that money. After the phone call they suspended my account immediately. I am very disappointed how this seller works and will not recommend them.

Shill bidders!!! Need i say more. Then that same item sells multiple times and reappears just as many.

Same thing my tablet froze an I was trying to bid for a car an I couldn't bid an all of a sudden it automatically started bidding rang Charlie trent an they wouldn't have it an invoiced me an suspended my account can't belive what there doing if they resolve it i will give them a top review as yet suspended for non payment I'm willing to pay above other bidders bid I'm going to ring emm on Monday let's see if this site Charlie trent saying there so helpful let's see if they're genuine?

If you've signed up to SalvageMarket.co.uk & paid your yearly or like me a 2 yearly subscription, it gives you the opportunity to bid on salvage direct from reputable salvage companies. Many of these cars come direct from Insurance companies where tidy little bargains can be had.
The importance of accurate images of ALL visible damage around a vehicle is vital on the sellers behalf. A buyer must be able to assess and value such damage in an effort to make an informed decision. This is even more important now since Covid 19 has prevented people from being able to visit a salvage yard to view in person.
This is where the problem lies with Salvage Market! Unscrupulous salvage operators like for example Combellack Car Breakers in St Austell who are selling members of Salvage Market use this to their advantage. They hide visible damage, edit images on Salvage Market Auction website and basically mislead buyers by deliberately misdescribing the vehicles for sale.
Their complaints department if you can call it that, which is a women in an office whom sole job is to fob off disgruntled buyers with excuse, blatantly in breach of Distance Selling Regulations explaining to buyers that they have forfeited those rights when they purchased salvage.
This of course is not true. Salvage Market itself was a great idea thought up and put together by the NSA back in 2012-2013 and Covid has brought the worst out in these Salvage Yards who now have resorted to misleading and falsifying images just to sell for the highest price.
My advice is to have a live viewing of the vehicle and if this is not possible due to the old chestnut excuse, its covid rules, then steer well clear. Turn the excuse back on to them. If you can't view and assess then you won't bid. Dealers like Combellack, the bad apple, ruin it for everyone else. Not all Salvage Yards are unscrupulous there are some really good ones showing many many photos all in good light with a good description. Avoid the bad apples like the plague.

contacted salvagemarket about a vehicle i bought. It was sorned off the road, (can take upto 10 weeks to get a log book) Asked then to contact the previous owner about declaring they no longer owned the vehicle.
ended up with the account being suspended. still waiting for a response

I paid the £ 60 fee. They charged me 3 times from my account. Zero contact and refunds, the website replies from the machine. Don't give away from your details

They buy cars off other auction sites hbc and stuff and put it on their auction....scammers bought 3 cars 1 was previously cat c no record on description about it emailed them no answer ......bought kia off them mirror damaged after I bought it phoned them and it is what it is and hung up on me done with them bidding cars up .....now go to car market cheaper than damaged quick fix and sold

I bid on vehicle commercial it turned out to have different colour on the details, to what was advertised, when I queried this the froze my account , Needs to be reported to Trading Standards

Very bad service I don't know who bid on a vehicle but my account was suspended due to that reason and the company have even had the cheek to go and block my dads account when I recommeneded him to it. Very bad idea. I have even emailed them when this problem occurred and until now it hasn't been resolved. on top they want to charge my dad 250 to 350 pound to unsuspend his account.

They claim insurance companies to blame for cars being relisted but this is just lies AVIOD!!!!

Ive been wondering if anyone else has been outbid only so see the car back on same site less than 24 hrs later ,when questioned about it the answer was it hasn't been paid for ,but you get more than 24 hrs to settle so how is that possible.Next was "sorry its been put back on by mistake vehicle" and they did remove it, a few weeks later it came back on the same site hmm seems a bit strange. Ive since seen and also had a few lower end staff members tell me that is happening on many vehicles that the companies are bidding on there own sales to improve the sales price! Is this fair im sure if this was ebay the accounts would get shut and im sure they are strict on this policy for a good moral reason.I have since phoned national salvage who jumped down my throat at the mention of this matter (literally asked who moniters the bidding) so i asked am i the only one to question this matter as it seems i have touched a nerve they replied no body else has ever asked or complained, there should be a more extensive block of these companies and especialy if they are doing worse things like removing parts off cars etc like i have read in the other reviews!

As soon as you dare complain they will freeze your account in an attempt to withhold evidence.

The first car we brought from them was clocked by over 31,000 miles. This company has completely refused to help us establish the reason or origin of this discrepancy. They take a tough luck should have read the small print attitude and don't give a monkeys about there customers.

The second car we brought turned up with loads of bits unbolted from it costing over £500 to replace even though the bits were in the pictures when we bid. They said they need bits for other cars they were doing up in there yard and just laughed at us also saying you should have collected it yourself mate!!

motorhog and salvagemarket tries to rely on and hide behind its shaky terms and conditions to get out of everything which they are serious mistaken will protect them. We have reported them to Doncaster Trading Standards and taken legal action in the county court to recover our losses.

They will take your money and blatantly rip you off. We have been buying salvage vehicles for over 15 years and never ever have we ever come across anything quite like this lot, SHOCKING!!!
