I've been using the device since November 2024. The device is worth every cent. I had problems with the first device, but I wrote to Em and received all the support I needed, as well as a new device. Fantastic service and the wonderful Em. THANK YOU.
But the most important thing is that it works, the PMS symptoms and pain have decreased, I feel relief and endless gratitude that finally someone paid attention to women and their problems. I'm so proud of you, Em, you did it!

Nettle has been life-changing for me. It has significantly improved my mental health, not just during the intense phases of PMDD before my period. But I actually feel much better during the rest of my cycle, too. The improvement of my pain has been slower and has little effect in my case so far, but I don’t mind that, considering how well it works for my mood. Samphire has been truly brilliant in supporting me with questions I've had and also have been very generous when it came to technical issues. The founder Emilie is very accessible, and makes time for you. I am routing for Samphire Nettle and hope that many women will benefit from it - I certainly tell everyone about it.

I've been using Nettle for 4 months so far, and I can see my body adjusting and feeling symptoms relieved.
The first time I received Nettle was during my period, so I ended up with 4 sessions till the end of the period. Then the second time I had 8 sessions before my period and a few more during the first few days of the period. This time my usually severe premenstrual breast tenderness was almost non-existent! During the period, I still needed painkillers, though 2 pills less than usual, and that was already a win!
The third time, I had around 12 sessions before my period and 3 more during the first 3 days. And instead of the usual 5-6 strong ibuprofen pills during the first 3 days, this time I needed just one! Yes, I still felt very weak but not as exhausted as usual when I'm on my period. The pain was present, but nothing to compare to what I'm used to experiencing. However, the premenstrual breast tenderness came back almost as severe as earlier.
The 4th and 5th time, I experimented by using Nettle about 20 times (as advised by Emilė) before my period. However, my body doesn't seem to respond right away to this boost. The breast tenderness hasn't changed, and the period pain is still pretty significant (2 strong ibuprofen pills were needed both times), as well as exhaustion before the start and during the first few days of the cycle.
But I am hopeful that this is just a question of time since only 2 instead of 5 or 6 ibuprofen pills is already an incredible win for me!
HUGE thanks to Em and the team for all the support!

The Nettle has genuinely changed my life. I hope that anyone considering this for PMDD or PMS invests in themselves by buying this device and giving it a go. I spent so much money on other options that didn't work. I would spend this money many times over for the relief it has given me.
I have PMDD and I tried all the suggested options from my GP/online and none of them have provided any relief of my symptoms. I bought the Nettle in Dec 24 and tried it for two cycles but had no change.
I had an email from the company which gave me the opportunity to speak to Em the CEO. I wanted to give the device another chance and we discussed my personal circumstances and how to make it work for me.
The third cycle of trying it, it made a huge impact on my symptoms and I would say reduced them by around 50%. I could start to see through the fog and I was able to work, when usually I would be impacted so much that I would take between 1 and 3 days off to manage my symptoms.
I have just finished my fourth cycle of trying it and my symptoms were reduced to about 10%. It felt like very mild PMS compared to the severe, life threatening PMDD I usually suffer with. I hope I continue to have great results.
This device has given me my life back and I can't thank Em and the team enough. I would love to know if there is a way that this could be offered as the first line treatment by GPs. This should be offered ahead of birth control or antidepressants, as there are no side effects to using the device (in my experience).
If you're reading this wondering if you should try it...you should.

Incredible - Nettle has helped me immensely and the customer service is also brilliant. I have PMDD and ADHD which I don’t medicate for and I was surprised/delighted that it significantly reduced the symptoms of both of these conditions. Over the course of a few months, my brain has felt clearer and less chaotic - a huge factor when considering these conditions are largely neurological as opposed to physical (although nettle does massively reduce my period pain too). I also love that they value and actually take on board any feedback, showing they actually care about being the best possible vessel for period sufferers.
Very grateful for Nettle. Thank you to these women for being so dedicated to helping other women.

The Nettle device changed everything, I bought this device before Christmas and experienced the festive season in a much happier more level mood! This little device has helped me in so many ways, I feel like a different person during luteal, no extreme anxiety or depression, my partner has commented that it has made a visible change in my symptoms. The app is brilliant too, lots of free useful resources etc. It feels like a little luxury to use and gives me a boost when I need it, I actually time mine for the afternoon if I can as that's when I tend to "crash" energy wise. Try it out, you have nothing to lose :)

To make this review as helpful as possible for people considering purchasing Nettle, I’ll start with some context.
- Ever since I first got my period, I struggled with PMS. Every month without fail my mood would change and my mum would ask me “are you due on?” And 9 times out of 10, I was.
- In my late teens I became very unwell with depression and have been on antidepressants ever since. Despite being on medication, my PMS has stayed with me over the last 10 years. In the 8-10 days before my period, I am not myself and my day to day life and routine is negatively impacted.
- When I have tried to come off my medication (which I now realise isn’t an option for me), my PMS would get significantly worse and I’m pretty sure I actually have PMDD (though I’ve never been diagnosed).
- As I’ve been conscious of how artificial hormones could impact my mood, I’ve never been on hormonal contraception but have had the copper coil which makes my periods painful and heavy. I go through a pack of Feminax every month without fail.
That’s some context about me and now about my experience with Nettle…
I’m now mid way through my second time using Nettle and I start using it 8 days before my period is due.
The first time I used it, I had one bad pms day which was on the 3rd day of using Nettle and bar that, my mood remained unchanged and therefore so did my sleep, my ability to maintain my exercise routine, energy levels, diet etc. To my amazement, I also had ZERO pain. I was expecting to have some pain but not enough to warrant painkillers but I had NOTHING.
I am now using Nettle for the second time (am on day 3 of usage) and again, am finding it game changing for managing my PMS. )
I wish I could put into words how grateful I am to Em for creating this incredible piece of technology. If you feel like you’ve tried everything to manage your PMS/PMDD and/or pain to no avail, I can’t recommend Nettle enough.
I have no doubt this is going to change the lives of millions of women - it has definitely changed mine already.
Thank you again Em!

I have always experienced challenging PMS symptoms however I noticed these worsen in the past year to two years and become more akin to PMDD with heightened period pain. My symptoms start after ovulation up to the first few days of my period and I was finding that this was becoming more unmanageable impacting daily life and activities, especially the low mood and anxiousness, wipe out fatigue and feelings of agitation and hopelessness during the luteal phase.
I’m really pleased I found Nettle, and I took the leap and made the purchase. I’ve been using now for three months, and I’ve been using daily from ovulation up to day 2 or 3 of my period. I have had fewer fatigue and low mood and emotional spells during the luteal phase, being able to pick myself up quicker after these and returning to a calmer mental state. I’ve noticed that this month my period arrived without the usual cramping as signal of arrival. I have had day 1 period pains only as these usually stay till day 3, which is a big improvement!
The device and app are both easy to use. I enjoy the 20 minutes of time to myself whilst in session. The tingling took a few sessions to get used to but now find the sensation comfortable. Em and the team are so supportive, especially when I needed help with my device set-up.
I am positive my symptoms will continue to lessen with every month I use the Nettle. It’s nice to have hopefulness about my cycle after all this time and am very grateful to team Nettle.

I waited several months after buying my Nettle to write this review so I could give an informed opinion. After three full menstrual cycles with it, here’s my take.
Does it work? Yes.
Does it need improvement? Yes.
Will it be improved? I believe so.
Should you buy it? If you have PMDD, yes. This is an essential investment that you need in your life.
Pros:
- Outperforms all other PMDD solutions I’ve tried (and I’ve tried them all).
- Customer service is stellar.
- Company clearly cares about delivering results and improving user experience.
Cons:
- A pain to use (but results are worth it).
- Some devices may malfunction (but customer service is excellent, and as long as they continue to be this responsive I can feel comfortable recommending the product).
- First-gen product, so it’s not perfect—hopefully, there will be a trade-in program in the future for early adopters to upgrade to improved versions. I won't lie, it does give me anxiety to feel unsure if my device will work or not when I come to use it, especially since I travel often.
My Experience:
I have PMDD (Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder), which is like PMS on steroids. I was diagnosed at 24 and have spent over a decade trying to manage symptoms that take half my life away. The worst part is the depression and brain fog—I struggle to form sentences, misplace objects in bizarre places, and even accidentally drank a cleaning product once.
I’ve been prescribed antidepressants, Elvanse, birth control, and was even suggested HRT. Nothing worked, and side effects were awful. When I saw an ad for Nettle’s neurostimulation approach, I was hopeful.
First cycle: Noticeable mood improvements by Day 3.
Second cycle: Started using it earlier—huge relief from PMDD depression and anxiety.
Third cycle: Used it twice daily in the 14-day lead-up and was shocked—I was in control of my life. PMDD’s usual slow-motion train wreck just didn’t happen. Instead of struggling to function, I could think, work, and live normally.
For pain management, I expected nothing, and nothing happened for my first cycle. Usual excruciating pain. But by my third cycle, I had just three hours of cramps on day 1. No painkillers needed. Unbelievable.
Customer Service:
Excellent. My first two devices stopped working. In both cases, replacements were sent quickly. The first time, the CEO herself replied within something like an hour—on a Saturday night. She's even followed up with personalized advice to my many questions. Probably not something that she can keep doing as the company grows, but her level of commitment is absolutely palpable and I'm impressed.
The Downsides:
Using Nettle is frustrating. The marketing doesn’t prepare you for just how much water you may need to wet the electrodes. I need to soak them with at least ½ to ⅔ of the provided bottle each session. Even then, I have to press, rock, remove, and re-wet for at least 3 rounds before the device connects. The water also drips everywhere, which may explain why some devices malfunction.
For context, I have type 1A hair (straight, low porosity, thick strands); you may have an easier time with fine hair. Washing my hair daily made no difference, so it's not oil buildup.
Essentially, ignore the website's marketing images that imply an easy pop-on-pop-off device. Your hair will not look sleek and groomed when you use this. It will be necessary for you to take time out of your day to look ridiculous. I’ve resorted to a 2 ponytail arrangement (one mini to pull through the gap, one to separate back and half) to maximise scalp contact. I also have to blow-dry my hair post-session. But, the fact that I recommend this product despite all the frustration says everything about how much the results deliver.
Final Verdict:
Despite the frustrating user experience, Nettle is a game-changer for PMDD. It’s not perfect, but it delivers results. If you struggle with PMDD, Nettle is the solution you’ve been waiting for. Absolutely worth the investment. I just hope they continue improving it!

Using the Nettle has absolutely blown my mind (haha, not literally). My luteal phase, is no longer a week filled with heightened emotions like anxiety and anger. I feel like the Nettle clicks on the happy side of my brain, in the phase of my cycle that I need it the most. It's an absolute game changer. Also the customer support service is incredible, so friendly and so responsive! Thank you Samphire Neuroscience, for changing how women navigate the highs and lows of the beautiful but complex menstrual cycle.

I've used nettle for one month and so far so good! I definitely noticed an improvement in my mood and PMS symptoms and I didn't need any painkillers during my period this time. I have thick curly hair and found that I needed to part my hair in a certain way so that contact was detected and sessions could start - Em was very helpful, providing advice so I could get it to work. Your hair does get wet so have the hairdryer ready for a quick touch up!

I am very happy with Nettle! At first I had some doubts, but after the first cycles of use I noticed positive changes. It is easy to integrate into my daily routine and the effects are really noticeable - I feel more energetic and focused. I also really appreciate the support of the community and the care of the team. Thank you for creating such innovative solutions!

I’ve waiting for 2 months before writing this review to make sure I have enough experience with the app and the device. I have quite lengthy and severe premenstrual symptoms which ramped up just before I turned 40. My GP suggested for me to consult with a menopausal specialist nurse. The nurse suggested that I keep record of my symptoms for 3 months and can see that I have something everyday but more so 10-12 days before my period. She suspected I have PMDD. However, on my 3rd month check, I’ve turned 40, the diagnosis then turned to premenopausal and was suggested HRT. Since I was really struggling with severe migraines, irritability, anxiety, cramps, muscle aches weeks before my period, I gave HRT a try. Initially I felt really great, symptoms almost all gone - except when I had the progesterone, all hell broke loose. I noticed after 1,5months, I gained weight without any change of exercise or calorie intake. I worked hard to maintain my health and my body and for some reason I swell. I decided to stop HRT and at the same time found Nettle by coincidence.
Nettle is on the pricey side, however I had nothing to lose. It’s not hormonal, so won’t change my body, that’s good enough. When it arrived, it didn’t really fit me, so I emailed for some guidance. Emily (bless her), she’s so patient with me, guided me through it and it worked wonders. I also explained my situation and that I start feeling symptoms way before the ‘5 day before period starts’. She then suggested for me to do it as soon as my symptoms start. I now have it scheduled 12 days before my period. I only use them when I can’t handle my symptoms.
If I wake up with a migraine/cramps or start to feel anxious/low mood, I get my nettle and it sorts me back to neutral (like a factory reset lol) after 20 mins. I also use this 20 mins as my ‘me quiet time’.
It’s been such a dream to have nettle, thank you Emily for creating such a miracle. I’m so much less moody, no where near as irritable or anxious as I was before, I can bring myself up to go for a run when at times I don’t feel like it, my migraines are almost second to none, I barely take pain killers, even my husband borrows my nettle when he has migraines haha.
Now, the app compliments this device. I can’t praise it more than what the device has helped me. The app is so customizable and it has everything that I need that no other app has managed to provide. You can add your own symptoms, select the level of severity and even have analytics of each symptoms.
If you struggle with PMS/PMDD or any sort of menstrual related pain/emotional struggle, give nettle a go.
I hope you find solace like I do.

If you have a Nettle device from Samphire neuroscience and did not receive significant relief during your first cycle, I highly recommend giving it another try in the second cycle. The instructions note that it can take up to three cycles to see significant reduction in symptoms, and that is the case for me. I found a decent amount of relief during the first month I tried this device, and am seeing an incredible improvement in the second month. There is still some head tingling and discomfort, but I now look forward to the feeling, knowing that it will help me feel clear-headed, calm, and in minimal pain even if it’s “that time of the month.” I started using it a few days before PMDD symptoms usually set in, and this has worked incredibly well so far. To my fellow PMDD sufferers: hope has arrived.

I was diagnosed with endometriosis last summer after years of debilitating ovulation pain. I had always had bad mittelschmerz but in 2024 it became far more severe, to the extent that I was hospitalised twice, and the pain was so severe that during ovulation I would be incapacitated for 7-10 days. No painkillers did anything other than worsen my GORD. I saw a gynaecologist who suggested either going on the pill (which caused terrible mental health problems in the past and also I am happy with my Mirena IUD), induced menopause, or a hysterectomy. None of which seemed like good options! I went away and did a lot of research, and decided to take the leap with Nettle and I am SO glad I did.
I fit my Nettle schedule around meditation, which is quite simpatico. It does tingle a little, but overall it's really easy to use and I don't really notice it.
My first cycle using it was just after ovulation, and the first and most immediate side effect was a mood shift. My irritability and brain fog were much quieter. The second cycle was the real test as it was my right ovary (I think she wants to kill me) and causes significantly more pain than the left. I definitely still felt pain, but it lasted a few hours instead of ten days, and I was still able to do things — albeit with a hot water bottle strapped onto me. I'm hopeful that by the next right ovary cycle, the pain will be even less.
The biggest shift in the second month was my lifelong depression just sort of vanishing?? The hormonal despair that has dominated my life since menarche has just gone, I feel stable and not overwhelmed. Finding Nettle really has been a game changer, and I am excited for what feels like the very near future where my body and life isn't being dominated by pain. Thank you!

I'm currently using Nettle for the second month and, so far, I'm very positive about my experience. I got it to relieve (mental) PMS symptoms and, even during the first cycle of using, the symptoms were significantly less. I feel better - less depressed, less tired, and less sad.
The device is costly, but worth the money to me!
Update after the 2nd use cycle: my period was about 2 weeks late. This was scary, and since I wasn't pregnant, I emailed the Nettle team if it could possibly be a side effect. Emily responded within the hour, and it can indeed be a side effect of the device. It's supposed to go back to normal with the next cycle. I really appreciated the quick help from Emily, and the reassurance that there was nothing to worry about. I'm about to get my next period, so let's see if this one will be on time!
This is my first month using Nettle, and I can't believe how fast it worked! As my period was approaching, I was waiting for my usual PMS/PMDD feelings of depression, sadness, and irritability to hit me - but I started stimulating my brain with Nettle and those never came! I am SHOCKED that it worked so fast. I feel happy, calm, and productive. As someone with PMDD, I don't think I ever felt this good before my period. Turns out, "it was all in my brain"!
Also, as someone very passionate about good design, whoever designed Nettle, did a good job. My daily Nettle sessions feel like a luxurious ritual. It's also super easy to use and I even like the slight tingling sensation I get when stimulating my brain.
It only takes 20 minutes, and you can do whatever you want during those 20 minutes: work, reply to emails, watch Netflix, relax, etc. It also gave me a little sense of achievement every time I finished a session - and it had this ripple positive effect on my day, where I would want to do more self-care, drink more water, etc., because I already started it on a good note with Nettle.
I seriously cannot recommend this enough, and I want all my friends to know about Nettle!
